Walked in to my local head shop today that sells video games and was looking at there snes games. The guy working asked me if i was looking for anything I told him not really but a few games I do want is earthbound. He then tells me he has one in the back and he will be right back. So i wait and he comes back with Earthbound for nes and tells me I can have it for 5 dollars. I dint say a word just payed for it and came home.

I cant seam to find it on ebay whats this game worth was the 5 the best deal ever or what

Earthbound for nes
Man, if you actually got the NES prototype for $5, that'd be absolutely amazing.

Still, getting the SNES game for that price is a great deal. One of these days, I need to find a copy.

Nice find :D , I hope to find earthbound in a thrift store or yard sale one of these days.

cart only is worth like $100-$150 I think.

But.......you shouldn't really say the specific game title , like say "oh some snes games" , I made the mistake a year ago asking for a copy of Conkers bad fur day in a random thrift store, while in the back the guy searched online and said it could sell for way more them his price of $2 lol :(

Well, there was no Earthbound on the NES. The game was remade by fans for the NES to imitate the style of Mother (which was the original game in the series released only in Japan, Earthbound is Mother 2) and made available as a ROM. So that's what you have, stuck in a NES cart.

Basically, you can stick it in your SNES and play Earthbound with Mother-esque graphics/gameplay. It's not the same but it's kinda cool to have nonetheless.

Being that the repro is $25 shipped, you still did pretty good I think. If you had to you could probably resell it close to that amount, since not everybody wants to deal with 3rd party websites and the wait time to make a modcart.

Not exactly. Mother 1 was translated by Nintendo but unreleased.

probably was, considering by that time the NES was dead and buried in the US and Mother 1 really feels like a game that should have been released in like 1985.

It's very slow and grindy, and probably would have ruined people on the significantly better SNES sequel.
