Authorization Process

On Friday I went to use the kiosk and it was frozen. Doing a preorder took forever since I had to walk back and forth across the store a few times before they finally signed into some computer and printed off some paper that allowed them to sell me the preorder.

All you need is the SKU from the website listing of any given game. I just did it on Saturday at a store that did not have cards for the games I wanted and the kiosk was broken. They just type it in to the register and it will work just fine.
 
holy cow, i just realized doing in store pickup costs me almost $2 more in taxes per game. The Best Buy i go to is 5 minutes away, but its in Kansas City, cant believe the difference is that big.

For others trying to get Mad Max for PS4 from Best Buy, a Mod on the Best Buy community forums posted they are aware of the problem and are looking into fixing it.

Cool thanks. I'll probably preorder mad max that way tomorrow since they didn't have the cards out. Gonna be busy since I gotta trade in some games and pick up gears while I'm there
 
Hmm...so I just picked up a PS4, but my MGSV pre-order is still for the PS3 version, so that leaves me in an odd place. I know you can only get 1x$10 cert (in points) per game, regardless of edition/platform as discussed earlier, but I'm wondering if/how this will be affected by changing/adjusting/cancelling the original pre-order I placed (which was in-store).

Planning on going in tomorrow to see what they can do, but figured I'd ask here since regularly CAG knows more about how BBY operates than they do.

I preorder almost every major release at BB and normally receive games on release. The last game I didn't receive on release was Madden 15. I'm not 100% sure when your card will be charged, I usually put games on the BB MC(you get more points) and pay it off when I get the bill.

Just checked and already received the base points for Madden 16 and Until Dawn. I expect to have the Madden Bonus Cert by Thursday at the latest. That's the way it's been recently at least.

To the new faces in this thread. The earlier you preorder a game, the faster the bonus Cert will be on your account. If you wait till the week before release, it could take up to 15 days before you get the bonus points. Typically I put in my preorders 4-6 weeks in advanced. Last year it took at least a week before the bonus would post, normally longer. BB has become much better over the past 6-9 months IMO.
 
I havent used my GCU in a while just not sure what to purchase. I have an XBOX ONE, PS4, and Wii U..I want to get Forza 6, not sure about Mad Max(What do you all think of that game) and Disney Infinity 3.0 just not sure for what console. Waiting on Mario Maker since who knows, maybe they will have some kind of crazy bundle released before release date

By preordering early to get points earlier you mean just depositing $5 or fully paying it off early?
 
Just PM the BBY mods and they will email you the code after verifying your preorder deposit. I find it easier to use online preorders since they are more automated.

Right, I guess I was just confused on my end. I was worried that either:

A.) It was too late to pre-order a new copy for the $10 in reward certs

(or)

B.) BBY's system wouldn't give the $10 in reward carts for a "second" pre-order, having already flagged the ps3 version on my account.

Seems that neither were the case, had no trouble. The last game I pre-ordered from BBY was Destiny, which they screwed up & I had to spend more time than I'd like sorting it out ...so I guess I was just being paranoid.

 
Anyone else preordered Madden 16 Deluxe Edition and was told that they didn't have enough copies to accommodate all the preorders. I'm sure most of us buy our games from BBY because of the 20% + $10 cert but things like this never happen at GS.

You sign up for mybestbuy (free). You pre-order a game before its release date ($5 minimum in store or full charge online). You pickup said game within 7 days of release date, using the same mybestbuy account you used to pre-order. 15-20 days later you receive 500 points posted to your mybestbuy account, equivalent to a $10 tax-free best buy certificate you can use on anything sold at best buy.

TLDR; pre order before its out with mybestbuy, buy it when its out within 7 days, wait 15-20 days, profit.

credit cards are a revolving authorization charge, paypal and gift cards are immediate, not 100% sure on debit cards but most likely the revolving charges same as credit cards.

Did they do it right?

I had $10 off Madden 16, I had the deluxe version. So it was $59.99, they put the tax on that and then minus the deposit ($20). So it came to $45.27, I figured they would take the $69.99-$10-$20 for $39.99 and then tax it, it would've been a $1.76 or so cheaper ($43.51). No biggie, just figured they did that backwards.

Yes, but they allowed me to downgrade to Vanilla and gave me a $30 GC for hassle, so I picked up GOW UE for 1.99. After the trade last week and this they actually paid me $15 to play Madden this year.
