I don't get why wait a month for $7, stupid, play it now return it and make money, duh!
$60 MSRP minus $30, historically from black friday prices, does not equal $7.

And speaking of historically, every AC game had numerous bugs at launch. No longer will I buy a game even remotely near launch, especially at full price. Even look at Witcher 3, fantastic game, universally loved, and 11 patches have been released in the few months it's been out.

Is it me or does checking your rewards stuff not work half the time?  Was trying to check which game just posted and which is 500 pending and it won't show me anything beyond the overview.

BB GCU 47.99-$10 preorder=$37.00-$30 (maybe BF price)=$7 simple math don't have to wait a month or more to play, trade back in when price is still high at BB or GS usually get at least $40. +$3.

I assumed you would say that. The $12 from GCU is not 'free money' as it's a paid membership. The $10 store credit is not the same as cash. And as I said, historically AC games have numerous bugs. I'd rather wait for a patched game.

quite nitpicky. $30 over 2 years, that's $1.25 a month, and really store credit is same as cash if you buy a lot of games, guess you don't trade games to buy games.

Is AC the only game you are going to buy with GCU? Then yes, what you said makes perfect sense.

i'm 25% through assassins creed 6 and only 1 or 2 minor bugs so far, like character textures disappearing for a single cut scene is all I can think of.  I'm really enjoying the game so far, if you are a big Assassins Creed 2 fan you will love it.  If you hate the ubisoft formula (giant world maps, collectibles up the wazoo, heavy storytelling linear missions, etc) then you will not like syndicate.

London is pretty awesome so far, I didn't think I would like it but its a cool place to wander around and explore.  Tons and tons of database entries too, I try to read a bunch but I've got like 50 unread entries in mine already.

some great things: whistling is back to ambush enemies, lockpicking is just 3 tiers of unlocks no stupid mini game, counter is back to simple, not too many follow missions so far, and the two playable characters are cool.  its actually very cool switching back and forth, evie is a bad ass bitch.

I also really like the Territory takeover, reminds me of a mix between Mafia 2 and KIngs of New York. Also, really like the leveling up and different levels of the enemies, makes the game much more challenging. Agreed a lot like AC2 really enjoying it.

I bet those limited edition copies of syndicate are standard copies just like how unity copies were? I'll just wait for it to get cheaper. I'll get on that need for speed instead but it sucks that we don't get $10 cert for it

I really like this one. I've completed all the territory stuff except the level 9 area, I'm only 6 right now. I've collected all the collectibles that show up on the map (bottles, posters, & flowers). Also add me to the group that didn't think London would be this fun. I find myself riding the horse and carriage around town more than climbing buildings. Fighting on top of trains and shooting your zipline to get to other buildings much faster.

Not done yet, but by the time I 100% it, this could very well be my favorite AC game to date.

Felt this way since AC:BF. The games are no longer connected, there is no overall lore. You play a character, you kill people, the end.

I'm an AC diehard. I've purchased every game at midnight launch every year. I throw AC themed parties with AC themed food. Lived it, breathed it. Along with each game I bought every collectible, one of a kind works of art, even AC Adidas shoes. I was 'that guy'.

Early on, what hooked me wasn't only how the game was essentially a pseudo history lesson, the modern story hooked me. I could not wait to see what happened each year, especially when it tied to real time and the Mayan calendar.

Now all of us know AC3 finished off the modern story with Desmond. Even though the game itself wasn't loved by everyone, I greatly enjoyed the lore behind it. And then Black Flag came out. I absolutely loved the gameplay. What I did not enjoy, and I even said this to Darby himself... to me the story was lacking and at the time I couldn't quite place it. It wasn't that the story within Black Flag was underwhelming, it just felt like something was missing.

Last month I finally hyped myself up enough to play Rogue even though I had purchased it earlier in the year. All right game, decent story. This month I played Unity, and as with all my AC games I 100% them and get the 'platinum'.

Now to the point of all of this: eight years later I have no connection to the series any longer. There is nothing that hooks me from one game to the next. Truthfully I feel a sense of dread, as if I think to myself "sigh, another AC game I have to play" such as just another day in the office at work. I used to have so much fun, yet now it just isn't the same anymore. Why? Well all of the recent games stories are essentially 10 hours long or less, the entire games are full of filler side missions and collectibles, thrown in to extend gameplay for no other reason than to unlock a costume.

Knowing this as well as nowadays each game is a standalone story, I just don't look forward to the grind any longer.
Cool story. That said I am already 'that guy'. THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE!!!

Sounds fun. I regret missing the pre-order and now I feel like I must wait for a price drop. ACIII is my fav up to now (i don't understand the hate for it lol maybe it's just my love for the revolution period)

I'm enjoying it as well. I think all the Ubisoft hate is just the gaming community holding grudges at this point, it was justified last year. They make some great games.

Still plenty of reasons to hate Ubi, it just sucks when they make good games.

Anybody know if I will get the $10 preorder bonus with the half off sky lander toy glitch from long time ago.

Gotten it on all 8 or 9 games so far.

Nah, I think some's justified irritation over jUPlay. I hate having extra online ccounts, so things like UPlay are just a pain, since I don't even use the PC version. That doesn't change that I'm really excited to give The Division a go, been waiting for almost 2 years, it seems. Remember that Watch_Dogs disappointed a lot of people (I enjoyed it, though it was short and shallow), and I was thoroughly unimpressed with a Siege beta I was really wanting to buy into. Ubisoft has made many missteps, some quite recent.

For Assassin's Creed, it'll just end up being gaming preference. I think the big fans have justifiable complaints over how the modern storyline went. I heard what AC 3 does, and it made me not even bother playing the franchise after AC 2 because of how little sense it made. Unity had me thoroughly intrigued when I saw the fluidity of the movement and combat, and the co-op looked to be a blast. Then it was a buggy nightmare, so I passed. Was watching for Syndicate, then saw they took out the co-op and I wrote it off. I thought actually being in a Brotherhood with other people who DID things would be awesome, but they gutted that and did the same to my interest in Syndicate with that move.

I play all of the Assassin's Creed games and I still don't get the main story, lol.

I'm just sick of reading an article on a gaming website and all of the comments are shitting on Ubisoft. It's annoying

And this is why you check all GCs before trashing them.  Was getting rid of the 100+ BBY GCs that have been sitting on my desk for as long as two years.  All were empty except the third to last one I checked... which had $43 on it.

I'm really enjoying the game so far, if you are a big Assassins Creed 2 fan you will love it. If you hate the ubisoft formula (giant world maps, collectibles up the wazoo, heavy storytelling linear missions, etc) then you will not like syndicate.
I'm fairly early into Syndicate as well, but this is probably the game in a nutshell. It's perhaps the best Assassin's Creed game since Brotherhood. Black Flag was great as well, but it was also a game that felt it was trying very hard not to be an Assassin's Creed game (while still retaining a lot of ugly aspects of the series like tailing missions). BF worked at the time because the AC formula was getting rather stale at that point (something Unity further cemented the following year). So in a lot of ways, Syndicate feels like the proper follow up to AC II and Brotherhood that games like AC III and Unity fell short of achieving. The issue is with so many AC games released up to this point, you'd be forgiven if you want nothing to do with the series anymore. On the other hand if you still happen to be in the mood for a new AC game, I think folks will be pleasantly surprised with what they get with this new one.

I think my only real gripe with it at this point is hearing all the praise for Evie vs Jacob, I do wonder if the game would've been better off just making Evie the only protagonist. Especially from what I understand, the main story overall seems to be more Jacob focused. Can't help but feel this game is Ubi's way of "testing the waters" to see how the audience reacts to a female protagonist in a mainline AC game before fully committing to the idea in a future game.

From Halo 5 reviews it looks like the single player campaign is nothing to write home about :( At least the MP is shaping up to be great barring any MCC like problems.

Shouldn't be a surprise. A lot of reports said the story is a mess but the multiplayer is pretty good.

Someone said something that made great sense. Mircosoft should have just let 343 start a new ip instead of being tied to having to continue the halo story.

But then you have to actually put money into marketing it and developing that new brand!

True, MP is what halo is mostly about though so Im happy they nailed that aspect. And it would've been nice to see them get a chance at a new IP, but someone had to take over the Halo helm.

Or let the story go out the way the company that started it wanted it to go out.

No one "had" to take over Halo.

I actually think they did the two playable characters really well. You don't have to go to a particular place on the map to swap, the swap doesn't require reloading assets and a 30 second loading screen, and you don't have to force yourself to play one or the other as 'keep-up' because of the shared XP/equipment.

In fact, it's great in the early game to focus the skills of one character on combat and one on stealth, then use the one with the better benefits for the task at hand. And yet, they play close enough to each other that even when forced to play a particular sibling during a mission, you aren't missing anything crucial. I guess I get the issue with liking Evie over Jacob, but it's not like he's offensive or anything. He definitely brings a Kenway vibe to the table, with the twist that he actually wants to be an Assassin.

I'm having a lot of fun with it.

thats why you keep a google docs spreadsheet of all your GCs, so you can track exactly which ones have what balance and readjust whenever you buy something (online of course, only savages go into stores anymore).

I even figured out how to embed GC balance checker into google docs, just put the GC check URL into docs and then you can use variables to pre input the card number and pin (or just copy and paste for the security paranoid)

https://www-ssl.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=pcat17043&type=page

for the guy who asked whether he should play unity or skip it, skip it. Its pretty terrible compared to Syndicate, even after all the patches. Maybe after you finish Syndicate you can go back and play it, but you don't miss out anything by skipping it.

The limited edition "launch" Syndicate includes DLC codes for two extra side mission things, the murder mystery stuff (10 missions) and the Darwin conspiracy missions. Both are well done, have lots of voice acting and involved. The murder mystery though is totally free on PS4 so you don't need the DLC code at all (right now). You do need to use the Darwin dlc code. One of the two is exclusive to PS4 for a month too, I think.

So I have not done a BBY pre-order in forever.  Is there any indication of the $10 RZ cert in the order menu?  I am signed in and I am getting the GCU discount so that should be enough to know the RZ cert is good to go?

That should be enough yeah, there is no indication of the $10 in the cart or anything; it will be a few weeks before the Cert is credited to your account.

No indication when preordering -- just give your BB rewards/GCU number when preordering online or in-store so you qualify for the bonus

Takes up to 20 days to get the bonus after the game is shipped or picked up (usually 15 days)

Not every game has a preorder bonus so check the first page of this thread or BB website to see which games qualify:

I thought the same thing, until later in the game when the sequences are split up into Evie missions and Jacob missions... Jacobs lack of stealth that I had in him came back to bite me. I have liked Evie's character and for some reason she feels faster. I would play through the whole game as Evie if I could but alas that is where Ubi messed up.
