Amazon does not give 20% off all new games, only 20% off pre-orders and only full price pre-orders. Once a game is released or goes on sale...no more 20%. Best Buy gives you 20% off any game that is sealed/new regardless of price.

For example, Disney Infinity 3.0 Marvel Battlegrounds. MSRP $30. BBY=$20=$16. Amazon=$20. They won't give 20% off a sale price even if it's a pre-order, unless they want to. So it's no where near as good.

For example, PvZ:GW2 was on sale yesterday at Amazon for $40/$50 (normal/Deluxe). The sale happened on the edge of the two weeks that the Prime discount would apply, but since the game had a sale price the Prime discount did not apply. This gave a lot of people heartburn because of how well GCU has treated us (and so does the two weeks thing). So to sum up:
  • 20% discount on all new games, even if on sale
  • 20% discount on all new games, even after 2 weeks
  • 10% discount on all used games (not sure Amazon sells used games to begin with, but beside the point)
  • Double RZ points for video game purchases. Sure, this won't be seen as too much of a benefit if they stop the $10 pre-order promo, but Amazon doesn't offer any points for any purchases.

I just went ahead and copy pasted my same post from a different thread to share my experience.

So I go into Best Buy last night to pick up my copy of The Division: Gold Edition, and they apparently didn't get enough copies to fulfill orders or some shit.  They had to look around the store for like 15 minutes and couldn't find it.  Ironically, the manager of the store was the one that was helping me and she gave me my GC discount on a regular copy plus another $18 bucks as an apology for not having my merchandise that I ordered.  On top of that, Best Buy gave me my $15 bucks in Rewards Certs for the whole fiasco (I wasn't able to switch my pre-order over to the regular copy).

So in the end, I got a regular copy for like $14 bucks and change.

Not bad lol

Might just give it to a buddy as a gift, or slang it to someone at my work for $40 bucks when my PS4 CE comes on Friday.

 
While following all of the Best Buy deals since last year, it seems pretty clear that Best Buy has scaled back on the promotion and deep discount pricing compared to years past.  As for the $10 rewards promo, I think they are content with riding this out to see how the sales shake out.  Over the last few years, they’ve essentially rebuilt their gaming customer base and it only makes sense if they want to see if it’s more profitable to discountinue the $10 program.  They can always go back to it if they feel like it’s better for them in the long run.  Easier to bring back a profitable program then continue one that’s not worth the slimmer profit margin.
 
I order The Division for my self (12-4-15) and my son (2-21-16) got 500 points for the 2-21-16 today. But not the one i order on the 12-4-15. But 532 points pending. :D/

 
I tried the division last night, the second objective was bugged in the first area so I gave up. Hopefully it works tonight!
 
Trying to log in to "confirm" my identity at the beginning glitched on me but worked with my friends, so I just restarted the game and no glitches after that. Pretty surprised to have a working game on release date.

the 250 is in addition to the 500 pre-order bonus. Give the 500 15 days.

You'll get a total of $15 in rewards for pre-ordering.

WTF Best Buy? I know, $33 net for a game on release day!

Odd, considering I preordered the game on Sunday, not when they were running $15 promo

I saw the situation as getting $5 instead of $10, so the WTF bestbuy still stands

everyone is getting the 15, it seems that they weren't able to change it back to 10 or are just hooking us up. so indstead of wtf best buy it should be thank you bb :D

 
I pre-ordered 2 Divisions on one account both with the Xbox Live 3+1 month cards for $10 on Sunday 3/6 and picked them up Tuesday, under rewards I see one order pending 250 + 500 points and the other order with a pending 250 points. So I got a free $5 extra for pre-ordering another copy. If they started doing 250 extra points for pre-ordering that would be pretty awesome.

There are bugs on redeemable items too. I did not get a Hazmat suit - as posted in the game cover and also listed on the code insert inside the game case. There were also problems in getting the Agent Origins free outfits - I did not get the codes for those in the email. I received the weapons though which was more important to me than the outfits. Although for some people, the weapons were missing.

You would wonder if reviews were not allowed before release for other reasons, than supposedly "getting the full experience."

Just looked in my account and I'm not seeing my points.  Quick question, do you actually have to purchase the game to get the points?  I didn't buy the game so I'm wondering if that was it.  Should I just wait the 15 days?

I'm not making things personal, just pointing out what will cause you to be banned if you don't try harder.
 
I for one would love for the $10 promo to continue, but either way I will always renew my GCU even if I'm only going to use it on Black Friday.  The only game I MIGHT pre-order this year is Battlefield 5.  I'll just catch everything else a few months late with an extra 20% off thanks to GCU

 
Cant believe BBY still doesnt have PlantsZombies 2 on their trade in list. Wish they had The Division listed, there's a couple of used ones at GS near me now.

 
Well this sucks. Had the 250 bonus points pending and now they are gone. If you weren't supposed to get them you might want to cash them if you are able to in case they remove them.

 
Weird ... yesterday I had 45 points, with 239 pending. But my Division orders both had the 250 bonus points.

Now I have 45 points, 399 pending, and my second copy of the Division does not have the 250 points. I think they just took it out too because I could've swore I had 649 points pending when I checked a couple of hours ago.

 
So my 250 points went away and were replaced with 500. Not a big deal, but they posted them on the 2nd preorder I did, which was the Gold Edition that I'm returning, instead of the 1st pre order which was the base game that I'm keeping.

Will the 500 points reappear on the other purchase?

I'm going to get banned because I'm unhappy with BB GCU lately? "Try harder"? My posts are well fleshed out most of the time.

Meh, im not here to fight. If I've been negative lately over BB, that's because they've given me reason to. Sorry if that hurts anyone's feelings. Not discussing it anymore. Ignore me if you don't like it - that's what you have the option for.

Same here. Started with the 250, then had the 250+500 showing up, now it's only the 500. All were pending so we'll see.

I just want to get MLB 16 paid for before I forget since the next game after that I'm looking forward to isn't until well past E3.

 
I didn't know I could only get $10 on one copy. Had I know that, I would have just waited and bought a Gold copy in store and gave my brother the $15 copy I ordered back in November.
