$10? Not a chance in hell. The only GBA that would drop that low would be the original, and even then $10 is still probably too low of a price. The GBA still sells well...and it would just be stupid for a store to drop the system's price by that much, even if it is just temporary.
the lines at the stores are freakin nuts
yeah i felt i was six flags (actually worse) ... the best buy line was looped around the ENTIRE store twice. And you had lines just to get into each section of the store., since it was so crowded.

Wow, did you still have the ad for last year's sale?

I tried going a couple years back to get a video card that was marked down for the sale. Got there at 6am and the line already wrapped around to the back of the building. Had to wait about 2 hours after they finally opened just to get in because of the fire hazard laws. When I finally got in, everything was already gone other than a couple dvd's and the line for checkout snaked around the entire store.
IMHO, its not worth the hassle. Around here, people camp out starting at midnight. If you aren't there by 3am, there isn't anything good left. Time is money. Is it really worth all that time to save 10 dollars on a couple dvd's or $30 on some no-name generic DVD player?

If you go a few days before, and pick up the items you want, can you just go later that day and have them change the price?

Thanks...but I try to avoid these days like the plague. Things are usually sold out unless you get there ASAP. Then, the lines, and people, and shoving, and hassle....

I usually do a lot of my XMAS shopping online now.

Unless I can get a 50" plasma for $500, I'm not going ;)

No, there was a link to their 2003 site under the "about" section.
Thanks. Nothing to exciting just yet. Which do you think would be the better dvd player, the apex or my new model ps2?
One of the dvd players that I own is an Apex. We bought if for my wife's parents and they didn't want it, so we kept it. We used to have a lot of problems playing Disney dvds (it usually locked up while loading them). A few calls to Buena Vista video (Disney distibutor) got us an update disc for the player. We haven't had any problems since then. This is a very basic model, most likely the same one they'd sell for $20 on BF. We bought ours for $25 last year.
If you go a few days before, and pick up the items you want, can you just go later that day and have them change the price?
Most of the times, yes...or going in to the specific hours that sale is going on for. The main thing you need to watch out for is "Instant rebate", those normally dont count twards the difference.

One more thing of note...dont go the day before to pick up items, make it at least 2 days before, otherwise they most likely have pulled the items into thier back stockroom for BF.

Thanks for the info, but I'll be one of those hanging out at home--the few bucks saved isn't worth the time/energy/hassle of finding the bargains [if they're even still in stock]. Especially since I'd be toting around a two-year old as well. I'll keep an eye out for some *really* good deal, then maybe reconsider, but thanks for the site.

I think if there are games or dvds I want Im gonna go a few days in advance and hide them under something that people would never look under.

Well maybe the TV is of interest to me if I receive my Best Buy Reward Zone Certificates if they weren't such a pain in the ass to get through the freaking e-mail....
I think if there are games or dvds I want Im gonna go a few days in advance and hide them under something that people would never look under.
That almost never works anymore.

Thanks for the info OP.

Yeah, thanks OP.
I tried to go last year, saw the amount of people and the length of the checkout line and decided to go home and just played some Animal Crossing.
So if I can see what's going to be there, then I can decide if it's worth it to go this year.

What was good about the sale? Remember this was back 1 year ago... What I got in was

Maxtor 120GB 7200RPM Internal HD w/8MB Buffer - $50 A/R
Lite-On 4x Multi-Format DVD Burner - $80 A/R
Samsung 17" LCD Monitor - $280 A/R
ATI Radeon 9600 128MB - $70 A/R

They acually had a few more tho... I think I also got..

Crazy Taxi GC - 10
Star Wars something XBOX - 10
Crappy as hell boombox - 35

Apex Progressive-scan DVD player $19.99

I think i would rather just spend the 29.99 for the DVD players then stand in line for 4 hours just to hope i get one. NOw if they had something else i wanted I be standing in line at 3 am :)

About PRice change i dont think BB will do it since its early bird specials ALSO prepair yourself to stand in line for hours at the customer service. I have no freaking clue why people would return stuff the day after thanksgiving

Those $20 DVD players are POS. My sister got one last year. It lasted about 3 weeks. I dont know why people just dont spend the money sometimes and get something decent.

Also I saw a guy last year buying the max of the same DVD players, like 5 or 6. You know he was eBaying them. Is it really worth it?

yea the people who live next to me got one of those cheap Dvd players last year and it was broke by march. I will probally just stick to using my ps2

So long as you keep everything intact and sealed, items bought in advance but refused price protection on the day of the sale can always just be returned normally. So you have nothing to lose other than some time.

RUMOR KB TOYS GAMEBOY ADVANCE normal ones 19.99

this wouldnt be a big shock since amazon and TRU were clearning out the Gameboy with ereader for 34.99 few months back..... Also

ANOTHER BIG RUMOR I heard DONT expect any PS2 packages the new ps2 will be in too big of a demand to give a deal. ANd i find this funny NINTENDO cut the DS supply in half since the demand wasnt as big as nintendo wanted. So cut the supply and start a panic .... Something about a LCD SCREEN Shortage
If you go a few days before, and pick up the items you want, can you just go later that day and have them change the price?
Nope. The ads always stipulate "not valid on previous purchases".

Thats a stinker if its true. I was hoping to get a pstwo for around $120 or so.

Actually if this is a progressive scan player it is going to be much better than what most people have in their homes today. Of course you need a progressive scan TV to see the difference.

Yeah you can return it but you won't get the Black Friday price.

Yeah, I can't see braving 3-hour waits in line to save 10 bucks on 5 DVDs like people did last year. I bought an mp3 cd deck for my car last year for $70, which was the only time I've ever seen mp3 decks under $150.

It's still pretty fun to see how ridiculous people are on this day. The streets are flooded, people become crazy about spaces and parking. It's a riot.

You will if you rebuy it. You know, exchange for the difference. The reason people buy, return, rebuy, is so that they're assured that the item is in stock.

so lets say i'm going to buy the apex 27" tv for 200 bucks like a week before black friday. on black friday, i bring the unopened and sealed apex tv and return it and rebuy it for the black friday price of 89.99. is that buy, return, and rebuy theory?

It's very little effort compared to standing in line for some awful length of time. The whole point is that you can wait until late afternoon or so beore going in to either get the price protection or refund. Keep in mind, most of the items aren't going to be major sources of exercise such as a 27" TV.

That APEX 27" TV could come in handy for that price since my regular unit is going to be in storage for several months. I'm very reluctant to move it out of storage until I have a fairly permanent location. Since I'll be renting a room near the contract job I'll be performing for the next few months, 27" is about the right size to fit along with my PS2 for games and DVD playback. Using HDLoader I won't even need to have a lot of physcal space for games.

Yeah last years Best Buy sale wasnt that great IMO. That really sucks for me cuz i was stuck working there at 6 am with hordes of people coming at me =0
