CAGiversary!
I figured that by the time I got home from work this would have already been posted with the list, but it looks like I should have brought the list home with me. Best Buy is putting a ton of slower-moving games on clearance starting Monday Sept. 12th. Prices ranged from .99-9.99, with most being 4.99, and included games for all systems.

FAQ:

When does the sale being?
The sale begins on MONDAY SEPT 12th when bestbuy opens

Is the sale also online?
no one knows for sure, often bb keeps prices the same, but like i said, this isnt a guarantee. some people are ordering online now and hoping to pricematch later, again, this isnt a guarantee.

Why are people saying they are getting games now, when the sale dosent start until monday?
some people are buying games ahead of time for full price and going back later to get a price adjustment on the games.

BB.com says the games are out of stock in stores around me, is that reliable?
no, its not reliable, it might be right, or it might not, this is from first hand experiance i had today (going to BB then checking avaliability of games i knew where on the shelves when i got home..)

Should i call and ask about the sale?
no, very rarely is calling and asking about a big unadvertised sale a good idea. it can tip off employees that the sale is even going on, also some empolyees might know about it and might have been told to deny it, and some might have no clue at all.

Will the $5 off coupon work on these games? (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58353)
that will be YMMV, the coupon says in black and white, excludes clearance items, so if you get shot down dont cry about it.

Ok... this is weird... Ys and Growlanser were out of stock at EVERY store I tried last night, but this morning the website is telling me both are now in stock at every single store?

Maybe stores are receiving shipments of these in anticipation of the sale? My local store NEVER got in Growlanser.

Is this happening for anyone else?

I might have to swing by there to pick both of them up if this is true, or just order them for in store pickup and get them tommorrow.

RECHECK THE WEBSITE! Everything I have now checked is saying it's in stock, at not just my store but every store around me, where as last night everything was sold out, and I confirmed it in store as well.
It seems risky, but I don't see why a person couldn't RETURN a game with the receipt, then just buy it again at the current price. It's not a "price match" per se but it accomplishes the same thing.
I talked with two BB employees, and they said they will do a price adjustment because the clearance is happening within BB. So buy the games now and come back when you're running some other errands.
is this at bestbuy.com or at the actual stores?
Probably both, but you can expect most items to be listed as "out of stock" or even "Sold Out" on the website as soon as the sale starts. With the last sale, half the items weren't even listed on the site... you had to just hope your local store has a few left.
the eyetoy/sega superstars -$5=FREE
how good is the eyetoy?
is it worth getting for $9.99 if they don't have the bundle?
the eyetoy is horrible it hardly recognizes the movements
Ok ill respond to you. It all depends sometimes they give you cash but you can ask for it to be put back on your card but it might take a day or so to show up. If you wanna be safe have them run it as a credit. They almost never give cash for credit.
Thanks for answering my question!

Does anyone know if any of these games are going to be worth anything as trade-in credit on their own? Meaning, not to be included with any special trade-in deals? I remember back earlier this yead with the big CC $5 sale they had and most of the games were worth about $1 trade-in credit. The majority of games on this list look like they will be the same. Also, does BB open at 9 or 10 am?

Just checked the circular and this sale is NOT advertised!!! seems odd. when CC did this they advertised like crazy. Will the games be pulled and put into bins? New price marker? Will the prices automatically work?

Take this with a grain of salt, as I'm just speculating, but... At my Best Buy, we recieve shipments on tuesdays and fridays. However this week we recieved an extra shipment on Saturday, and actually called a few extra employees in to help with the load in case it was big. I didnt get a chance to see the shipment, so theres a possibility it could be a bunch of games on these lists that they are trying to clear out of warehouses. However, its just as likely that its 20 big screen tvs.

That site thing is happening with me too. I check for Taiko, and the website said its in at my store. But, I just went a few days ago and it wasn't there. And the website said it wasn't in at my store a few days ago either. Its pretty weird....I checked most of the games on the list and it says they are all in stock at all the stores near me(the store location in bold means its in right?).
I did a comparison of Fight Night Round 2 and Knockout Kings 2002(just for the experiments sake), and they both showed up bold, for all locations. However, only with Fight Night Round 2 could I add to cart(guessing thats because KK2002 was sold out).
Two explanations for this:
1. All of the stores near me have all the games in stock(highly unlikely).
2. Best Buy doesn't care anymore and is just displaying that all games are in stock everywhere.
This is surely a mystery. I don't think its possible that it has all these games in stock. I guess now its just a guessing game.
BTW, thanks Ecofreak for posting about the return policy stuff. You saved me some time.
All I know is, if Best Buy does have all these games, I'm seriously gonna be hurting for cash.

Ok, so what I want to do is order online for instore pickup today. Then, some time next week, price match for the sale. When I do that, does anyone know if I can use the $5.00 off PS2 games when I price match?

Awesome, I'll be there 9:45 tomorrow morning. The store I'm going to has the games I want, so I'm good there. Thanks a lot for the list, you rock!

Odd... last night nothing was showing up for in-store pickup. Two of my low-priority items did show up at one location, but it was kinda far and I didn't feel like going.

So this morning I checked again and EVERY SINGLE ITEM in my cart was now showing up as available, in ALL of my in-store pickup locations. That got me wondering, will items just be automatically listed as unavailable while a store is closed? Because if would seem odd for every Long Island location to suddenly get those items in stock, between 2 A.M. last night and now.

Well I'll see how it goes... I just dropped $200 on a bunch of stuff. Hopefully the price adjusting will go smoothly, otherwise I'll just return.

Too bad the only one near me has the worst gaming selection I have ever seen. KMart has better choices.

So yet again I miss out.

fuck you BB, fuck you.

The same thing happened to me... which is weird, because like I noted earlier, my local Best Buy NEVER EVER received Growlanser, and Ys has not been there in a long long time. And it is weird for every single Best Buy to have stock in these smaller games.

I'm starting to think that maybe all these stores received the games awhile ago in anticipation for the sale, and they just now made it into inventory, because your theory about them being not available while the store is closed is a bit off, since the store is still closed right now :p

I got a feeling Best Buy has shipped out tons of stock for this... I am about ready to order Growlanser and Ys for in-store pickup just to make sure.

Weird... I read what the other poster has written, and it seems every game on the site is showing up as available in every store... I guess the website has glitched. I'm still ordering for in-store pickup, in the off chance that they will ship that store the items.

That is odd. Ys and Growlanser Generations are now both in stock. Maybe it's a glitch in system, or EVERY store got a massive shipment of games at the same time.

I'm pretty sure that when the store is closed (or maybe just at certain times), it will show all the games as being in stock. I've been looking at getting Growlanser for awhile and at different times in would show that the game was available in store (it was either all stores or none though). Thinking back I think it showed the games being in stock when I checked early in the morning before the stores opened.

I placed an order for instore pickup for Zelda, Growlanser and Ys since I won't be able to make it till late on Monday. We'll see how it turns out. I'm expecting to receive an email saying the items are out of stock.

hmmm, I suspect a glitch on the BB website, cuz every game on the list I have entered so far has come up for instore pickup at every BB near me. Oh well, I'll try and go later and see.

Edit: Ah, that could explain much then ^

ahhh, just got an e-mail telling me that none of the items I ordered are available in-store. You can get everything shipped free when this happens, but I wonder if it's worth trying. How long are these clearance prices supposed to last? If I got these items shipped, would I be able to bring them to the store in, say, two weeks from now and get the price adjustments?

Yeah, Y's and Growlanser are in my store, too. Also Final Fantasy Anthology which I haven't seen in years...??

DAMNIT! I was excited, too..

Eh, total BS... I guess it will be worth it though if the website updates the price to the clearance prices as well, because then we get free shipping.

No Ys or Growlanser for me, because I don't feel like driving all the way to Georgia for them (the only store in 200 miles that actually had Ys in stock)

And I'm not sure if they would do price adjustments in store... that's kind of uncharted territory. I might wait until tommorrow, see if the website updates, or wait until someone gives concrete confirmation that you can order something online and price adjust it in store.

Probably some BS about how they are "two different entities" and they wouldn't do it.

couldnt you just call up Best buy monday or tuesday and tell them to Price adjust
couldnt you just call up Best buy monday or tuesday and tell them to Price adjust
Good point; I may as well skip a step if I can. It's worth a shot.
couldnt you just call up Best buy monday or tuesday and tell them to Price adjust
If the website dosen't have the sale prices, they won't price adjust, simple as that. There's a chance the site may still show 39.99 and up for all these games tommorrow.

Bustauppa: You *can* return items to a B&M Best Buy that you buy online... I might just order Growlanser and Ys, return them to the store, and then immediately try and rebuy them for the sale price.

i just ordered 2 games for store pickup.. I probally wont pick up till tuesday to see if the prices fall... if they dont fall locally i just wont pick up. Your credit card isnt charged until you pick up the stuff

Very excellent sale. I wish I didnt have to go to work tomorrow so I could blast into Best Buy at 10am sharp. I can easily see dropping $100 on this one.

Off topic, I'm just curious .. does Best Buy usually carry .01 guides? And if they do .. are they marked as such or do you have to do a price check on certain guides and hope to get lucky?

EDIT: SWEET!! I just remembered I have a bunch of Gamers Gift Cards to use. Best sale ever!

Yeah my plan is to see if the website prices change on Monday morning. If they do, then I'll call BB right away, price adjust, and have them ship the items. I suppose I do run the risk of the website running out of stock though... If the prices DO change on the site, the items could sell out before they fix my order.

If the website prices DON'T change, plan B is to get them shipped anyway, then return them to the store and get the price adjustment there. But I worry about the website selling out... I wonder if I should just ask to have them shipped now to remain on the safe side?

I think I'm going to drive by my 2 BB's today to see what they got first before I go in for the kill. I always miss these damn BB sales, but I have a cold anyways and already called in sick for tomorrow for work if there is anything worth getting :)

I haven't spent almost any money on games lately, and what a way it would be to bolster my set.

Hopefully, I will get in before the local asswipe buys every game on the shelf usually :p

I always see his fat, greasy body at one of these big sales everytime ...

I'm going to order now as soon as they cancel my in store pickup and give me my free shipping code. Was it only for ground shipping? Because if that's the case, I'll just pay the 6 bucks for Second Day shipping for both items.

This way, if they change the price tommorrow, awesome my order has already gone through, and if they don't, I can just convince Best Buy B&M to price adjust, or I will just return and rebuy.
watch them cancel this clearance because everyone is buying the games online.
Don't say that. May a curse be upon you! HA!

Shit; I hope Chessmaster (Xbox) is still on the shelves. I've been meaning to get that shit.

I've had this happen before. There's no shipping code, you just call them up and you switch your delivery method from pickup/cancelled to shipped. When they do that they just don't charge for the shipping. Again, that makes me wonder how long this clearance will last... now you've got me wondering if some accelerated shipping would be worth it.

Periodically they get "junked out" to .01. Please don't price check all of them, unless your store is incompetent. It's published to us when we are supposed to make these changes in price. They don't last very long after that, and usually employees will pick up a couple.

bet you as we speak CAG'ers are buying up those games on the list then as soon as the store opens tomorrow they will return them and get a price match plus 10% of the diffrence.

I might actually do next day shipping... it will come to $15 per game, which is still a hell of a deal for Growlanser and Ys.

I got just got the email myself telling me they aren't available... free ground shipping can blow me, though. I'm going to call them, cancel the order, then place a new order for Growlanser and Ys shipped next day. This way, if the website changes tommorrow, my order is already sent and I can just get them to price adjust it over the phone.

If they don't update it, I will take it to Best Buy B&M to see if they will price adjust it. If they don't, I will then see if I can return / rebuy it, and if everything fails I will just straight up return them for all my money back.
bet you as we speak CAG'ers are buying up those games on the list then as soon as the store opens tomorrow they will return them and get a price match plus 10% of the diffrence.
Which really sucks for those of us that can't get in there til tomorrow after work. So it goes.
WOW another huge clearance list!

I'm just gonna try to get what i wanna play through, unless some big profit trade items come to light.
