I figured that by the time I got home from work this would have already been posted with the list, but it looks like I should have brought the list home with me. Best Buy is putting a ton of slower-moving games on clearance starting Monday Sept. 12th. Prices ranged from .99-9.99, with most being 4.99, and included games for all systems.

FAQ:

When does the sale being?
The sale begins on MONDAY SEPT 12th when bestbuy opens

Is the sale also online?
no one knows for sure, often bb keeps prices the same, but like i said, this isnt a guarantee. some people are ordering online now and hoping to pricematch later, again, this isnt a guarantee.

Why are people saying they are getting games now, when the sale dosent start until monday?
some people are buying games ahead of time for full price and going back later to get a price adjustment on the games.

BB.com says the games are out of stock in stores around me, is that reliable?
no, its not reliable, it might be right, or it might not, this is from first hand experiance i had today (going to BB then checking avaliability of games i knew where on the shelves when i got home..)

Should i call and ask about the sale?
no, very rarely is calling and asking about a big unadvertised sale a good idea. it can tip off employees that the sale is even going on, also some empolyees might know about it and might have been told to deny it, and some might have no clue at all.

Will the $5 off coupon work on these games? (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58353)
that will be YMMV, the coupon says in black and white, excludes clearance items, so if you get shot down dont cry about it.

that's 2 reports now of this sale not happening in stores....looking worse.

i'll be checking in about an hour at my local bestbuy.

My husband just went to BB (Gaithersburg, MD) ten minutes ago and the employee told him that they haven't received GC prices list yet..
 
Well its raining and there's a Best Buy clearance sale. I have class, but I say fuck THAT I'm not walking a half mile from my car in the rain and missing the BB sale.
 
Just got back from the local B&M store, and I must say I've been humbled. Not only are there many more bargain shoppers than last year; there were many fewer games to choose from. I still found a few things cheap, but I definitely wasn't the happy camper I was last year. :cry:

Well I managed to snag Mr Driller online. When I first got up, it was out of stock, but then I checked again and it was back in? So I ordered FAST. I think I'll be leaving classes early this morning to check out the other BB here in CO Springs, and maybe head back to the one I hit yesterday...

Wish I had time to read more of this thread! I'm wondering if the games are mixed in with the regular price ones, or if they are off on their own...

Well, this sale sucked. My BB did have a few titles, but nothing outstanding. Some other guy that was there got a few games that were on sale. He got Catwoman for $.99 and GTA GBA for $9.99. He also was going to price check a couple games that were on the list but not tagged at the sale price. They had a slip in the rack for Paper Mario GC that said $9.99, but they were already gone. I have a feeling BB employees pulled all the games they had bought them for themselves. So, yeah, pretty lame.
 
So this sale is officially a big YMMV. Good luck to those who want to roll the dice.

Man, color me pissed. Last night, I began an order and rang up Grownlanser and Dawn of Souls in 10 minutes. By the time I went to check out, both games were then sold out. WTF?!?

Went to my local BB and they had one or two very mediocre titles on sale. If it wasn't for the $20 Taiko Drum Master...
 
I went to Jackson MI Best Buy, I found MAT 1 and 2 for xbox, marked $9.99. I asked the guy to price check them, he said "I think that is the right price, it just went down today" he checks the price, they were $9.99...

Glad I didn't waste the gas to go see if the closest bb had Growlanser. From the sound of it, even if they had, it probably wouldn't have been on sale. Oh well, I got 10 titles offline. Nothing great. Even missed out on Astro Boy... I DID get a FF: Dawn of Souls for my wife though. So not a total waste. I just hope I don't get any dreaded back order emails...
 
Nothing from North Point Mall in Alpharetta, GA or Mall of Georgia in Buford, GA. Found a few of the games, but not at the prices that we expected.

Just came back from my Kirkwood Highway...Delaware Best Buy. The BB guy at the game department was great. He showed me what they had in stock (only 9 games)....and those 9 only 1 or 2 copies were left).

Also they came up as 9.99 and they told me that this SALE WAS NOT IN THE SYSTEM yet...they price adjusted it for me. Good experience here despite the lack of games at the store. Here is what they had/have.

Paper Mario (Cube)-someone grabbed the last copy
Y's (PS2)-I grabbed the last copy this was 9.99 as stated.
The Incredibles (Xbox) - I copy left, I got 1
Ghost Recon: Island Thunder (xbox): both copies left were taken (1 by me)
Intellivision Lives (cube) - 1 copy left, 1 got 1
Spyro (xbox) - 1 copy left, 1 got 1
High Rollers Casino (xbox) - I grabbed the last one I believe
Outlaw Golf 2 (Xbox) - I copy left, 1 got 1
 
Stopped by the Best Buy in Rockaway, NJ when they opened. Nothing on the shelves, found a copy of Second Sight hidden behind something, but it rang up at 9.99 instead of 4.99. I was going to stop at a few other BB after work today but I think I'll pass now. Overall a wash on this sale.

The four games I ordered are still "In Process" as of now... I'll just tell myself that's a good sign, since apparently people have gotten backorder emails already. But then again I don't count on Best Buy's online system to be very consistent. I'll cross my fingers and hope for the best. As far as I'm concerned, nothing is sound until I read "Shipped."

Interesting. Maybe we should give it until Tuesday for the prices to change fully?
 
If this has been asked already, sorry. Are the games marked or does the price just come up when they are scanned? Has anyone had a wrong price come up like CC sometimes does or are these prices definites at all Best Buys?
 
Just got back from the BB on Park St. in Boston. They didn't have anything, but I saw some dude who seemed to be looking for clearence games. Before he left, he asked the clerk something about Silent Hill 4 (XB), and had him look it up online for the price or something.

Is anyone here that dude?
 
I guess the moral of the story is I'm taking my print out from the website of the two games that should be in stock at the BB I'm hitting. And if those are necessary, and I find other games as well, I guess the CSRs are just gonna be looking up stuff on the website to price match.
 
such bullshit...i was the first person into the best buy game area this morning and they didnt have jack shit...nothing....nada

i went down the entire list of games before anyone else even came over and nothing was there except rocky legends for xbox for 9.99
 
definetely ymmv....I just went and they didn't have one of the games. Oh well, I'll hit the other one on my way home. I'm rolling with both coupons by the way just to be safe............
 
Growlanser and YS were suppose to be at my buffalo area store. No dice though. The guy I asked said Growlanser wasn't carried there in over a year. Did find a copy of Paper Mario: Thousand Year door though for $9.99. If there is anyone in my area, there were two left I believe on the N. Falls Blvd. one. Good luck.

My Paper Mario was still labeled 49.99, but rang up as 9.99
 
There were labeled bins at my bestbuy, but mysterious abscences of Y's, Growlanser, Paper MArio, and SH4, all of which I wanted. I did manage to get a Dawn of Souls, so it wasn't a complete bust. There were at least 15 Shell Shock Nams for Xbox though.
 
Definitely YMMV. I went to my BB, picked out nearly a dozen games, and NONE of them rang up at the price marked in the list. So I put them all back. Not sure if anyone else is having this problem.

I just got back and I went at 9:45......already a line outside.....I went oh crap.... People armed with list and everything! So then just as they opened the door I pushed my way through and watched as they went for carrying baskets...... I was like SUCKERS!!! Scored Y's and Silent Hill 4 for xbox but thats it nothing else was hoping for Eye toy and growlanser....

Think FatWallet screwed alot of people over.... tons of moms with list asking about them....

It should be more copies of Shell Shock '67 because that game sucks big time. It only took me like 6 hours to beat it and all you basically have to do to survive is run around and avoid the enemies.
