I figured that by the time I got home from work this would have already been posted with the list, but it looks like I should have brought the list home with me. Best Buy is putting a ton of slower-moving games on clearance starting Monday Sept. 12th. Prices ranged from .99-9.99, with most being 4.99, and included games for all systems.

FAQ:

When does the sale being?
The sale begins on MONDAY SEPT 12th when bestbuy opens

Is the sale also online?
no one knows for sure, often bb keeps prices the same, but like i said, this isnt a guarantee. some people are ordering online now and hoping to pricematch later, again, this isnt a guarantee.

Why are people saying they are getting games now, when the sale dosent start until monday?
some people are buying games ahead of time for full price and going back later to get a price adjustment on the games.

BB.com says the games are out of stock in stores around me, is that reliable?
no, its not reliable, it might be right, or it might not, this is from first hand experiance i had today (going to BB then checking avaliability of games i knew where on the shelves when i got home..)

Should i call and ask about the sale?
no, very rarely is calling and asking about a big unadvertised sale a good idea. it can tip off employees that the sale is even going on, also some empolyees might know about it and might have been told to deny it, and some might have no clue at all.

Will the $5 off coupon work on these games? (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58353)
that will be YMMV, the coupon says in black and white, excludes clearance items, so if you get shot down dont cry about it.

Okay, looks like my copy of Pac-Man World (the first one, for PS1) is the first of my online purchases to be officially SHIPPED.

Good news, but it makes me nervous about the other two items in my order (BloodRayne 2 and Silent Hill 4 for Xbox). Both are still In Processing, but the fact that they're not being shipped along with the first item can't be good. I should start mentally preparing for the dreaded backorder email...

Also saw Otogi 2 (5 copies) Astro Boy (4 copies), Shaman King MOS for GBA and a SLoad of others. This was a new BB with notoriously low traffic in a new area on the edge of my city. It was a ghost town this morning. Might go back for an eyetoy and some other stuff later tonight.

How do you even go about getting a price match at CC? I thought they didn't honor clearance-type stuff.
 
I went to bestbuy again, and it looks like they put out about 10 Div3rs, a bard's tale, and a narc. They were marked 9.99, and I figured that ti wasn't worth it. That Command Mission was gone :sad:, I should have had them scan it.

What a bloody waste. Drove out of my way to Dearborn and same bloody deal as the Southgate store. For all I could tell the stores never even carried a single one of these games. Went through every aisle and there was nothing. Plus I'm now disgruntled because it caused me to have to drive through worse traffic. -_-

I'm sure everyone's probably keeping them for themselves, eBay or someone else has claimed them but if someone could grab me something PM me. I'll pay cost for the game, shipping, and tax plus %50 of what the game cost if that's fair.

Really wanting in this order: Paper Mario, Harvest Moon, MGS Twin Snakes, Kim Possible 2(GBA), Otogi 2, Silent Hill 4(XBox) LoTR Third Age(Cube).

I also really want T.H.U.G. for GBA which I'll pay more then %50 for since that's only fair at $1.

If anyone is looking for Otogi 2, I grabbed a couple copies. I'm really trying to get Paper Mario 2, anyone get an extra of that? I'd like to trade for that. I'm also kind of looking for Mr. Driller.
 
I checked and found a few games at my Best Buy (The Polar Express, and Nam' 67) but both rang up for the wrong price. All the rest of the games were cleaned out, no tags even on the shelf. The Best Buy guy claimed they hadn't had any of them for months, including Paper Mario 2.
 
i got to hope they price adjust these i got sunday night. 40 bucks for a 10 buck game is way too much... if not i just return them. only take a 4 buck lost on shipping
 
Damn, I checked my Best Buy and they didn't have a single one of those games. I can't say I'm too surprised, though. I was hoping to get Otogi 2 and/or MechAssault 2. If anyone wants to trade me those for something, please CML.
 
Ah nvm, it looks like almost all the 4.99 games are 9.99 and they werent titles i really wanted in the first place. Id pick up bards tale but they have like 10 copies for PS2 and none for Xbox...and the ps2 version cost 20 bucks >.
 
I went to Best Buy and like everyone else I'm ticked...I found maybe 1 or 2 of the games on that list I was even SLIGHTLY looking for...too much attention was for this clearance sale...

But I do have a question, would places like Circuit City and other places match comptetiors prices for clearance items? I doubt it, but I was wondering anyways
 
I went to 3 Best Buys near me. There was almost nothing left. One store was not even aware of the price drop, at that one I actually got a few games I wanted. All the games I found where the last copies on the shelf.

Just got back from the Danvers, MA BB at the Liberty Tree Mall.

They didn't have much of anything, but I walked out with Yager and GTA:Advance.
 
I went to 2 stores and found nothing. There were some Mechassaults 2, but no 99 cent or $4.99 games. I did but Wolfenstien and Tron online maybe I will get those.

My brother checked out Fargo ND--said there was nothing, In Grand Forks ND I picked up 6 games and left about 4 titles that I had no interest in.

The games I got:

Godzilla: Save the earth Xbox
Lord of the Rings: RPG Gamecube forgot the title now but not the ones that totally follow movie

Tak 2 Playstation
Ty 2 Xbox
Incredibles Xbox
DragonBall Z GBA
Mr. Driller DS
Xmen Legends (not on the list but local return or something)

They had several paper marios, and many lower quality titles.

San Carlos, CA Best Buy was cleaned out when I got there (around 4PM) today. The guy sounded like they were cleaned out a while ago too. Figures, that Best Buy has never bore anything good for me anyway...

If anyone got extras to sell, I dunno, PM me a price I guess for Growlanser...Though I'm beginning to think there was a good reason for my not getting any new games.

I went to two BB in the Dallas, TX area and got the following:

Overall I am very happy with the sale. I love the thrill of the chase when going into the store.

I went to mine in Myrtle Beach, SC. The shelf had nothing on the list when I was searching, then the guy came up an asked me if I was looking for anything, I asked about the game clearance in which he walked over to another employee to ask. He said it was going on and they already pulled most of the items off the shelf as there wasnt much. He then walked me near the back room and wheeled out a cart with all the games too look though. He stated they were going to place them on a table tomorrow. He even gave me the company price sheet to go along with mine and helped me double-check prices. I was amazed.

Just like most are saying there wasnt much of anything, I got:

Dude, a lot of people did. A lot of people who didn't also have the option of trading with people here now. Everyone can win.
 
well basically they refused to price adjust my sale.

the cashier was suprised when i handed her a recipt and told her i needed an adjustment on every item. as she was doing it, she asked the store manager (chuck, store #0588, 412-650-6240) who happen to walk by if it was right, he told her it was wrong, so i then asked him what was wrong, that i just wanted to get a price adjustment, and that i had asked the cashier yesterday when i bought them about the price adjustment policy, and she explained that if its lower within 30 days, they would adjust it.

he then asks why i bought them yesterday and they are all cheaper, and i told him i heard there was a sale, and wanted to make sure i got what i wanted, now he's acting pretty hostile here, kinda having an attitude with everything he's saying, so he asks me where i heard about the sale, and i just said "i just heard about it" and he then asked again much ruder this time, and i replied "look, i dont have to tell you shit about anything, just do your job and adjust the prices like your policy says." he then says 2 different things at once, he says he wont be price adjusting because a.) its at his discretion, and b.) then can only adjust prices if the item is still in stock (both of which a manager at another store told me was bull). i explain to him again how it was explained to me the day before, and he still wont do it.

i put in a call to bestbuy corporate, they told me the store manager pretty much has the final say on everything, which i dont believe as far as acting against store policies, but i will be filing a complaint about it.

so i call another store, and get their manager on the phone, i explain to him the situation with charles, and he says he has no clue why he would say things like that, and that his store will adjust the price, no problem.

so i drive over there, and get the adjustment, no questions asked (afaik the girl that did the adjustment wasnt told of my situation) things sure do vary store to store.

im calling later on to leave a message for chuck, about how i got my price match and will be filing a number of complaints against his store for not honoring policy ^^ (im not sure if ill actully be motivated enough to do so, but i figure ill make him sweat over it ^^)
 
i went to two in the KC area and they didnt have anything on clearence. 9th quiveria and 117th an metcalf does anyone in the area know of a best buy thats doing it?
