I knew it. for the past few monthes ive been seeing best buy starting to become overly greedy but yesterday, during black friday, it finally completely made the change.

i went their twice. the first time for POP sands of time for 9.99, i noticed they had several new games for 52 bucks on the tag. on top of that i saw halo 2 and San Andreas for 54.99. obviously a good idea because most people who shop on BF are willing to spend anything and its a good way to cash in.

then later in the day, after coming back from my bank..i bought full spectrum warrior and gta double pack. and these games were both 59.99(referring to halo 2 and san andreas)!

shesh!

cha ching.

thank you for the good laugh best buy

just wanna know perhaps if anyone else went to best buy and saw this possibly?

its good if you price match fry's tho, itll save you an extra buck or so in the difference when they have to deduct there 59.99 fro fry's 37.99 on most opening week games. :)
Oh, wonderful. They offer the GGC then mark up the prices so we still pay 49.99 with tax. How sweet.
Im still surprised they havent made the PH PC etc games 19.98 yet.

yea on friday BB put Call of Duty as $52.00 those idiots and the people that work there have no clue whats on sale or whats goin on so they just suck overall

i dont know what there beef is. but yesterday i used a GGC on the 19.99 Full Spectrum warrior deal, and the female cashier bitched and whined and me endlessly, saying things like "havent you saved enough with this GREAT black friday deal?"

she said GREAT as if it were 8.99 or something. Anyone and everyone knows Full Spectrum Warrior will be 19.99 Reg Price next week anyway, so whats the big deal?

Anyone else notice that Atari Anthology for the PS2 is priced $20.82 while the XBox version is $19.99? Also, a worker there commented that MGS3 was on sale for $49.99. When I said that is probably MSRP, he looked it up on the computer and sure enough, it said the regular price was something like $52.50 :?

Was she joking around or serious? What the hell is there problem if she was? I am getting tired of BB, but it won't stop me from getting good deals from me and being a devil customer. As long as the deals are good enough.

I went to best buy on Friday like an idiot to see what they had left for game deals.........

there was nothing

w/ the exception of a few games, a few slight markdowns on things, etc, everyone that jumped in their cars and rushed to Best Buy on friday were clearly idiots.I convinced my mother to get out of line and forget about the stupid 50 dollar opened box tv ( the line was weaving throughout the aisles and was I kid you not, over 140 feet long)

they also had a line in 3 other departments of the store, which was very annoying when trying to get by people only to find a dead end

I also went to the mall, and with the exception of a few sales at Sears for clothes and Electronics Boutique for games, there were no big sales anywhere, but sadly people flock like sheep to the stores as soon as they see a sale commercial on tv*shakes head*

IMO BB is horrible. The employees there know jack about what part of the store they are in. I have probably sold over $1000 in merchandise for them. (2 $400 cameras and 4 $50 video games). They have no customer support, and I can't leave people out to dry like that.

I AM A DEMON CUSTOMER!

Ok now thats out of my system. I scavenged through BB on Friday to pick up some of the Door Busters. I got there a little after 10:30 , and was able to get everything I wanted except the $30 MP3 player. The line wait was less than 30 minutes, and I got a few extra hours of sleep.

I picked up:

17 inch LCD monitor $188 after MIR
the Sims deluxe PC game $5
160 GB Hard Drive $30 after MIR
The retrocon controller for $10

Not much of a haul but mainly what I wanted.

that is an unbelievable story. What is the big deal to them if you are saving yourself more money. See that is the mentality why BB is going to go under and soon by the Walmarts and the like. Walmart, I hate to say it, but they understand that people want things and they want it cheap. That's who they cater to and that's how they make so much money. BB has got to be idiots if people want to pay more for something they can get for less. When they go out of business, if they blame Walmart I will laugh in their faces (well not really since I don't know them but you get the picture I assume) because the only people that they will be able to blame are themselves.

See... what I hate about BB is that I'm a regular... what that SHOULD mean is that you know my face, know my likes (games and music), know I like to browse, and know I usually never leave emptyhanded... so why do they fuck with me everytime I go? Yes, welcome to Best Buy, I know... no, I'm just looking... no, I don't need your help... yes, I CAN read clearly and in English... no, I don't want a Best Buy credit card or Rewards Zone card... no, I don't want any subscription...

One day, I'm going to find a blue shirt like theirs and some khakis and walk right into the store and see if they treat me like a customer or employee...

they just do that anbd I understand that they do that. Really it doesn't bother me because I don't let it to. Other stores do it also. I also was a regular, i'm still until the end of the year and then my new year's resolution is to never buy from the again anything even some stuff that I will just have to pay full price unless I can get it for real cheap It's only when the start to call me a "demon" customer because I'm savvy and like to shop around for the best deals that it truly bothers me. it also bothers me when they dp this type of shit with policies that they themselves created that we play by their rules and when they mark up stuff. I bet if it weren't on BF that most people would not have bought any of those games that are marked up. People know generally what they prices are even if it is more than I would be willing to pay for.

I go to 2 BB's and I am happy to say I have never had a problem in any way with them accepting the GGC. I've also bought some big appliances there Granted you do have to deal with some kid that thinks he knows everything and says "I don't work on commision thats why I can say this more expensive brand is better because of blah, blah, blah, blah". I usually just go in and buy what I want and out the door I go. By the way Halo 2 is $49.99 there.

i remember i saw a tag for a game costs 50.49 i think. i saw a couple overpriced games, but i dont know what games they are. all i know they are in the ps2 section.

My BF experience at Best Buy: I bought 2 items - Full Spectrum Warrior for $19.99 and Crash Nitro Kart (XBox) for $9.99. I used the $5 off FSW coupon in the newest BB/Gamepro mag. The cashier scanned the coupon and of course the system didn't accept it. Another cashier came over and manually took the $5 off Crash Nitro Kart. When I asked him why he didn't take it off FSW he said that the system wasn't doing it so he just took it off the other game. It was no big deal since the overall price I paid was the same, it was just a little odd.

I may go back this week with another coupon for $5 off FSW and ask the customer service area if I can use this coupon after the fact

i hope the markups were only for black friday. if enough people bought the games on black friday at 54.99 + pr whatever, then expect bestbuy to see if they can get away with it more often.

exactly!!!!! there all like that

Today when I went there, they had MGS3 for 50.70 and DBZ Budokai 3 for like 52.48... it was insane.

Those were the only 2 i saw overpriced in the GC and the PS2 games i looked at; I can see that people would buy those 2 games for that price, though.

i only shop at bestbuy.com (good deals only too) for that. i don't have to deal with asshole employees that no nothing at all and will hassle me. i understand that they have to try and all which doesn't bother me until they push it. i work in retail, but i don't get commission, so i have no reason to push things and i know that i would feel more comfortable like that.

Just do what I do.. go in the store with a headphone set on. Better yet is play the earlier years of Pink Floyd while walking around the store. You won't believe how many times I've had the blue shirt lackeys run off as I turn up "Careful With That Axe Eugene" slowly as they try to approach me.

Now on a more serious note, I do need to bitch about a recent BBY experience. I went in a week ago looking for "The Rise And Fall Of ECW" DVD. Now I expected it to be sold out, and yes it was. But I figured I would give it a shot and ask if there was any that had not been put out yet - never hurts to ask. I went up to a blue shirt lackey and kindly asked. Instead of just getting a simple yes/no, the lackey gives me a lecture on how "only idiots who have no intelligence watches that shit" and how I "need to grow up."

You know what I did in response. I just looked right at him and just said "I must be so unintelligent that I don't work for a company who's CEO just claimed that 20% of their traffic is devils. Next time before you dare call someone unintelligent, you should go look in the mirror."

The lackey went totally speechless as I walked away.

It is true that sometimes the prices are lower at BB .com, sometimes when I need a computer part in a pinch I look it up and do in store pick up. Many times the prices have been $20-50 more in store. That always makes me mad.

I have been very lucky with my best buy (Cutler Ridge, FL) as far as customer service goes. They even price match their website at times as well for me. Granted I normally go their mainly for Anime now. But they are great with that. On tuesdays if I go in and the DVD i want isnt out yet and just got off the truck, they will go to the storage or receiving areas and find the DVD for me with no trouble. I did have a bit of trouble a few weeks back with a new cashier though. I was buying FFXI w/HDD (i had a 20 % off coupon) and she said they wouldn't do it cause the HDD was hardware. I should her the SKU number and area descr. for the item which was accesories. They called a manager, I spoke with them and got the discount. But that was the worst of anything I have had to deal with.

Well, I saw the Xbox version of Atari Anthology for $20.82, at my Best Buy? That's 83 cents more than the MSRP!!!...
oh no, another example of a company trying to make money. How dare they follow the principle of supply and demand!

Mercy!
The last time I was in a store that sold video games The supply of these 2 games out weighed the demand.....

The BB at the Cherry Tree Plaza in Indianapolis, on BF was absolutely swamped, me and my gf went there to do some bargain shopping and saw that the line for the CHECKOUT counter was over 150 ft long and expecting at least a 1.5 hour wait. We also went to sears where we saw people in the electronics department going ape shit over $100 27in tvs, people were grabbing 4 or 5 at a time and just pushing them into a pile and standing around it, absolutely insane. God I love the Holiday Season.

The best buy I went to had Atari Anthology listed at $20.82, but it rang up at $19.99. This was before BF so maybe they raised the price just for the weekend.

Best Buy is a slimey company just like others(eb is worse now)

Best Buy does the following(followed up by what they did on black friday)

secretly raises prices on products

places a myriad of items on sale in flyers that are the same price everyday (most dumb consumers never pick up on this, even w/ other stores....supermarkets are the biggest example)

pushes the rewards points.....a program where you basically save only 5 dollars off a $150 dollar purchase, but pay 9.99 for the membership..........so basically say if I signed up for the rewards card, only purchased something for 150 dollars and never went back to best buy....they actually just took 155 dollars from me and I didn't save anything...........nice company eh:)......even if you continue to purchase at best buy, between their fake sales and paying for the rewards deal every month, it's one of the biggest electronic store scams I've ever witnessed

On black friday, most of what was listed as being on sale in the flyer was the everyday price for listed items, not only this, but most that was on sale dealt w/ mail in rebates( which rarely ever work......even if they do, it takes weeks upon weeks to get your money back thus making it more of a hassle than a dream deal)

rebates=stores version of acting like a bank......get almost full price for a product now because people think they are getting a super deal, then have no worries about giving some of the profit back to the customers when your business stocks spike from the boost in sales a few months previous

best buy bf had virtually no good deals save for the ps2 games, the mp3 player and only a handful of others, but sadly it was the most packed store I entered on last friday.

Consumers will do anything for a sale, but not many consumers actually use their brains like people here, so they are getting ripped off and scammed rather than snagging a real "deal"

also
I happened to ask a best buy employee last friday if they were pricematching(i had a feeling there was a scam to be found), and he replied w/ "no, there won't be any pricematching today" in a manner as if I were supposed to figure out that they would unlawfully halt a daily pricematch promo for one day just to make more profit

there was no mention either in the flyer for that week or anywhere in the store that there would be no pricematching on Black friday.I'd really love to see Best Buy get sued over this, truly!

I remember last year being in BB the day before Black friday, it was a bunch of clerks marking up most every dvd in stock one or two bucks...

As for me, I NEVER buy regular stock on BF... only the REALLY REALLY good deals
