Best Buy Employees made penny suggestion...
Am I going to Best Buys that are owned by an entirely different corporate entity? I can barely convince the employees at the BBs I go to to let me put "JUST" $5 on the card to get the GGC. They'll run off to the manager, act snotty to me, in general make things really inconvenient. According to this thread, though, everybody elses BB tells them to only put $.01 on it.
Mine isn't that bad, but they do make you put $5 minimum on the card. I always just get the GGC with a game I'm going to buy right then and use it on so it doesn't really make much difference to me.

organicow - as far as not buying more than 2 things that have to be rung up seperately... I've bought three things in one transaction (using a coupon for each) and the cashier just had me buy 3 GGCs with $5 each in one transaction, and then scanned all three coupons, plus the cards I just bought in a 2nd transaction. Shouldn't be more than two transactions regardless of how many things you are buying unless you get a retarded cashier. If you already have a stack of the coupons ready to go, it would just be one transaction.
I dont understand GGC's. I know it stands for gamer gift card but do you pay for it and then its just a gift card? Cuz arent gift cards supposed to be presents?
Every gift card comes with a $5 off coupon, that's the whole draw. When people refer to the "Gamer Gift Card" or "GGC" it's understood that they're technically referring to the coupon that comes WITH the card (i.e. "Sonic Mega Collection, $15 after GGC").

So on your next purchase, you put all the money on the card towards the game, and you use the included coupon to take $5 off the total price.
whoa thats a nice scam deal. I'll have to try it
Um... I don't think an in-store promotion qualifies as a "scam"... :p

THe employees at my Best Buy know this routine so well that if you walk up with a game and the GGC, they'll automatically start the two transaction process - once for the GGC and a second time for the game (+ GGC and coupon).

I honestly don't see a reason to stock up on the coupons. Just pick them up when you're there.

And seriously, rvdrock, you gotta wise up, son. If you don't you that ten cents, you're actually losing more money than the rest of us.

I have come to the conclusion that I am going to get my friends back and give them the GGC's... Teach them to play with me...MWAHAHAHAHA!!!

Almost every BestBuy I've been into lately has been hiding the GGC in strange places. They used to be everywhere: In the PC games section, The VG section, the center aisle, the checkout lane, etc. Now they're tucked away on the bottom shelf in the back of the CD section where you have to crouch to get to them, if they have anymore at all. Some BB's don't.

I smell conspiracy!

so u dont need a gift card to get these coupons? u just walk around the store and theres coupons lying around? I'm confused.

tyecko, read through the gamers gift card explained sticky thread! i've seen you consistently ask questions about this through a few posts already. if you can, go to your best buy and take a look at it. combine the 2 and i think you'll figure out what it is. it's very simple. best of luck.
