Best Buy Gamers Gift Card Problems

whoa, they wouldnt let you use the gcc coupon and and the gift card? Thats just plain wrong. The money on the card is same as cash to them.....its your money after all..........I might be misunderstand his post though

If they won't let you use the *coupon* and still get the 10/back, I can see that.
If they won't let you use a *gift card*, that is wrong. Both morally and, i think, not even within BB's policies [ie, whoever told you that is in the wrong.]
I went to Best Buy today to pick up Mario Kart DD so I could take advantage of the $10 gift certificate. I went to the register and gave her the girft card and then asked her for my gift certicate. She said that they will only allow one, the girft card or use the coupon. I decided not to buy the game and Im really beginning to hate Best Buy. Is this really store policy or are they just once again giving me a hard time?
They did the same to me today but with a 10% off coupon I bought Metroid for the GBA and FF:CC for the GC, FF came with a $10.00 giftcard so when I got rung up the coupon only took 10% off of Metroid and did not discount FF at all. I questioned this to the CSR and she did a overide and gave me my 10% off of FF to, but told me normally they wouldnt do that and acted like she was doing me a favor.

things are a pain but they work.
Ive used them at the san bernardino best buy, I had to ask an associate and they had to dig some out of a crap pile under a kiosk (none on display)walked up front asked for the total on the game and then said id like to purchase this gcd for $5 less, then bought the game, the associate thought it was humorous.
Ive also used them at the main place bb in orange county.
that bb had those thing all over the place.

not once has the associate ever been able to scan the coupon, they always have to adjust the price

As a Best Buy cashier, I can say that the coupons don't scan, period. I've only had one person actually use one in my three months of employment and you must manually take $5 off the game and then file the coupon.

Has any employee approached the managers on this? Corporate should fix this. These coupons have been available for nearly 2 months now.

If i am understanding this conversation correctly, are people having problems with using their GIFT CARDS on merchandise other than games, or the COUPON?

b/c the gift card is same as cash and can be used on anything in the store. the coupon should be able to be used with whatever the restrictions are on it... oh and these $10 off deals in the paper, are like coupons and often they will say 'not to be combined with any other offer.' which means you cant get the $10 deal and another $5 deal at the same time. That makes sense and most stores do it (except EA of course).

The problem is with the $5 off coupon. I have never had a problem with the card. I received an email back from Best Buy today and they said sorry that you had a negative experience. We are forwarding your comments on to the appropriate parties. To me this means nothing is going to happen, as our master plan is to screw the customer out of their money.

i dont think best buy is out to screw anyone. Just to get on my soapbox for moment. Please dont complaing about a store not doing what you want and making it like they are screwing you over, because, in fact, isn't it you screwing them over. Yeah, i know, its not screwing them over b/c they offer the coupons, but give me a break. Don't get me wrong, I use the GGC as much as i can, but we are using the coupons in a way not intended by Best Buy. The point of the coupon is to entice people to buy other people gift cards so they can use the coupon and spend more money at BB. We are taking advantage of that, so if a manager realizes that b/c you are dumb enough to buy 20 and put .01 on it, dont bitch. He caught you, deal with it. OK i am done. thanks for listening. keep the deals coming.

I think the point of the matter is that the $5 coupons have not been entered into the computer system by corporate. The cashiers have not been educated on how to deal with these coupons. Management needs to step up and have the coupons entered by corporate, or train the cashiers to just deduct $5 off the order when the coupon is presented. Cashiers have either made up their own theories about these coupons or have been told the wrong info from peers or managers.

I'm not going to discuss the gift card issue as that is a different problem entirely.

You should be able to use the gift cards on anything in the store and the coupons only on the games. You have to hope to get a cashier that is educated about the $5 off coupons to actually be able to use one. We have scanning problems with a great number of our coupons at Best Buy. It's a pain in the ass for us cashiers and something that really should be addressed. In my three months of working at Best Buy, I've had only one customer use a coupon from a GGC.
