Best Buy GC
Hi guys.
It looks like the extra $5 off is over. (if this is in the wrong forum, please move it.)

Can you explain further? I still have GGCs that expire at the end of 2005.

Are you talking about the glitch that allowed the $5 to work on other titles than ones $19.99 or more, as well as across the whole sale?

Mods: Needs to move to Deal Discussions.

I'm guessing that he's talking about the $5 off evry game you buy when you use the GGC (not just one at $19.99 or above). For a while, when using the GGC it would take off $5 for every game you bought, even if it was priced at $14.99, $9.99, or even $4.99.

EDIT: Damn! Shrike beat me to it! :D

Sure I will explain it.

1. Get theBest Buy Gift Card with the $5 off of $19.99 or higher.
2. Get a video game item for $19.99 or higher.
3. Get a video game item for $19.98 or less.

It has been taking the $5 off of everything. No matter the cost, as long as it is a video game or accessory.

But today it did not. The guy scanned the coupon in, and it only took off the $5 from the $19.99 or higher.

Thanks,
Matthew

Mystery solved. Hurray! :)

This would make some sense, as BB also seems to have upped the price on all the $5 games that people were getting for free.

Too bad. I only got to use it once (and I returned three of the four games I used it on!).

i never got a chance to take advantage of this...though i never tried, at my BBs, the cashier has to scan the coupon and then enter in on the computer where to take how much money from....if that makes sense....so it would've never worked for me anyway

Sorry for the wrong post. :)

Yea, well, it was nice while it lasted. :)

And my best buy still has about 20 more GC's if anyone is in MD.
Matthew

I never even got to use the trick :? :( . Oh well I guess. You win some and you lose some. they were bound to have caught the glitch sometime. I guess now was jsut that time.

All the games I want at BB are over 19.99 anyway, so I guess it doesn't matter. By the way, a lot of the East Texas stores still have the older GGC if you guys are hunting them.

My local one actually still has the ones that expired in 2004 ...
Can we get another confirmation that this has stopped working?
Yeah I'm still considering this YMMV until I either try it myself or hear from some more people. I appreciate the OP though to give me a heads up on the potential end of this glitch. I did it a couple times but it's nothing I can't live without. I picked up Ribbit King and PSO Xbox for 5 bucks each instead of 10, nothing I'll miss.
