before I start a flame war, I know this has been discussed here but I don't recall a thread with this title. If its been done just a link pointing me in the right direction will suffice :D

I want some clarification for tuesday so I can get the best deal with Batman: Arkham Asylum.

Toys R Us has the $20 gift card with purchase (and the $30 g.c. between 10 - 2 for the rewards members).

I know people have had success in the past with buying a game at best buy and getting the price match to include the instant giftcard into the purchase price. The wording on BB website under their "policies" is kind of vague, but implys that they will.

How do you handle a price match if an instant gift card is included with a purchase?
The value of an instant gift card with purchase will be considered when calculating a price match. If the combined value of a competitor's product and instant gift card is lower than the combined value of Best Buy's product price and instant gift card, Best Buy will match either the price or the instant gift card value, depending on the offer.

Just wanted to get some confirmation on being able to do this. I doubt they'll cough up the $30 gc if I go between those hours, and I may go ahead and call a store tomorrow, but I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to get the game since I'm low on cash, and don't want to trade in my games too cheaply. Thanks for all help.

don.

They'll match a competitor's price within an area if the item is in stock. Anything else including gift card offers is at the discretion of the manager. Ask nicely and maybe they can help you out. It's not like video games are flying off the shelves in this economy,

Edit : Quick answer : YMMV

1. BRING HARDCOPY OF THE AD OR PRINTOUT.
2. PRINT THE PRICE GUARANTEE FAQ FROM BEST BUY ONLINE.
3. HIGHLIGHTS THE Q&A IN YELLOW AS MENTIONED FROM OP.
4. ASK NICELY SO THEY CAN HELP OUT.
5a. CUSTOMER SERVICE WILL DEDUCT THE COMPETITOR'S GIFTCARD OFF REGULAR/SALE PRICE.
5b. IF SHOT DOWN, SHOW THEM THE FAQ PRINTOUT WITH YELLOW HIGHLIGHTED.
6a. WAIT FOR MANAGER APPROVAL.
6b. IF SHOT DOWN, GO TO DIFFERENT BEST BUY OR WAIT FOR THE NEXT SHIFT.
7. THAT'S IT!

Price matching the gift card itself is YMMV, but if you do get them to do it you'll have even less of a chance getting the free DVD they are offering also. One offer or the other, never hurts to try though.

Most people have those movies from the single disc releases years ago... how can you call your self a batman fan and NOT have World's Finest?

As they state on the BB website, they'll either deduct the value of the GC from the price of the item or give you a gift card for the gift card's value.

Either way, you'd end up with it for a net $40 or $30 (depending on when you go into BB to match the TRU promotion), either with or without the gift card to bring the total purchase value up to $60.

BB has matched TRU promtions with gift cards in the past, with Super Mario Galaxy being the big one of note from the past, though they tend to lean with deducting the price of the gift card from the item.

They won't do anything if TRU doesn't have it in-stock when they call, so I would suggest going over to BB as quickly as possible tomorrow morning or early afternoon.

Best Buy shot me down on this for Batman: AA. The other day They claim that because the TRU gift card offer was higher than the BB gift card offer, they would not do it. BB Corp said the same thing.. If they didn't have a gift card deal, then they would have honored the TRU deal.

Seriously BB needs to get their act together at the store level about competitors gift card offers...as one week a CSR/Manager will do it and the next that same CSR/Manager won't.

My experience in the past has been either drop the price of the game by the competitor's gift card amount or drop the price of the game by the competitor's amount then charge the amount of the gift card to even it out.

BTW where is the thread we had about this a few months ago that had the rules about this on their web site.
Anyone know if there is a scan of the TRU ad that I can print out?
You don't need an ad scan...just got to the TRU web site, select the ad page then select print and it will do it for ya.
