Just got back from best buy and noticed green stickers randomly placed on games. WII, PS3, Xbox 360, DS, PS2, and PSP games all some titles with green stickers on them. I ask an associate if the stickers meant anything and they said "If it has a sticker its $9.99." The strange thing is that there were multiple copies of some titles and only a few had green stickers on them and some didnt. This makes it super YMMV because the green sticker requires a manual override to make it $9.99.

Some titles i saw for $9.99 were

PS3
----
Battlefield Bad Company (GH)
Untold Legends Dark Kingdom (GH)

Xbox 360
---------
Oblivion Elder scrolls
Shaun White Snowboarding
Disney Sing it H.S. Musical w/ Mic Bundle
Some Paintball Game
GRAW 2

PSP
----
Final Fantasy Tactics
Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles

A ton of Wii games, too many to remember.

I also saw tales of symphonia for $14.99.

there were a bunch more I cant remember right now. This was at the Best Buy on Kimball & Belmont in Chicago.

PSP
----
Final Fantasy Tactics
Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles

It looks like I'm getting even more PSP games for my giant backlog.

I think the price for Tales of Symphonia is universal since I saw it for the same price in the value games bin here in CA.

definitely YMMV... i was at the best buy in north fort worth, texas yesterday... similar titles, all green stickered games were $19.99

i'd imagine they'll come down at some point, but... just something to watch out for...

Yeah, some stores around me do red dots, but they're 6 for $30 (ie $5/ea.). I've scored untold sick deals on those lovely little dots. But just as many stores around might not have the clearance sales at all, so very YMMV.

Around me they are also red dots or a Manager's Specials bin. And you are correct, it is very YMMV (some stores have red dots/manager's specials at 10-20% off, while some have them anywhere between 50-75% off).

Never seen (or looked) for green dots so I might have to check some BBs out tomorrow.
there's a regional thread for a reason
There are best buys all over the country. How am I supposed to know which regions may or may not have this? I thought this website was all about sharing deals?
There used to be a BB YMMV thread. This belongs there.
Considering that this includes many random titles for all consoles, and it is a clearance sale of sorts, i felt I was doing the community a favor by throwing it out there. I thought this website was called "Cheap Ass Gamer", not "Tight Ass Forum Nazis"

I miss the cart of stickered games at my closest Best Buy. It vanished this past week :(

*waits for several hundred dollars worth of Reward Zone purchases to post in RZ account

Yes, it's called Cheap Ass Gamer and not Slick Deals or Fat Wallet because our forum is actually organized and people generally follow the rules. There's no need to get defensive. You made a mistake, so hopefully a mod will take care of it.

In the TC's defense, all stores are getting rid of their end of life and closeout product due to the new quarter starting, so ALL stores are going to have something, so this does apply to almost everyone. My store is having a buy one, get one half off at the moment for a lot of console and pc games. It's only a matter of time before that whole ten dollar game thing shows up in the ad much like last year.

That's simply not true. I have visited three Best Buy stores here in Los Angeles this week and none of them had any sort of video game deals. Some stores just never do closeouts. This post is a regional YMMV and should be moved to either the old Best Buy YMMV post or the regional forum for Chicago.

Some people are such dicks on this site. The guy found a deal and posted it -- if it's not valid at your local Best Buy ... don't buy anything. If by reading the original post you know it's a regional deal -- you're smart enough to move on to the next thread and not visit your local Best Buy.

just got back from bb , there were red and blue stickers on ps3 and xbox360 games

I saw Tom Clancy's End War with a red sticker originally $90, I asked the girl in games what that sticker meant...she said that those games were clearance...so I took it to the register told the guy what the girl said...he rung it up and it was $5!!! then he said well let's go ask...then the manager there said the sticker meant nothing...the guy ended up saying the games wasn't that great so I didn't get it...dummy's...if the sticker didn't mean anything why did it say 5 bucks!!!

did I pass up a great deal? never played any Tom Clancy games...

We have people from all over the country posting they have found stickered games at their best buys. I dont see why you still think this is regional to Chicago. Have a stiff drink and relax, don't be so upset you missed out on one measly little deal.

OP, you're being a bigger dick than anyone who corrected you. This is a YMMV deal. Most of the people you are getting pissy at were merely pointing that out. There is a reason why we have different forums and various posts for YMMV/clearance deals. If we all just randomly post whatever we want, it would be a lot harder for us to find out about as many deals as possible.
It's a good thing people need to point out a deal is YMMV when the thread title says YMMV. Just saying.
LOL :applause: gotta remember, they do this for a living....

oh and I forgot to thank the OP. I found the deal here in Pittsburgh. Luckly I have a friend that works there and he held some games for me. Kudos to you.

I'm getting really sick of people constantly rushing to the defense of people who post things in the wrong area and OPs who won't admit that they made a mistake and take action to acknowledge it, especially when those of us who are pointing it out have been polite about it.

The thing I like best about this site is that it's super focused and on-topic. I don't have to spend 45 minutes sifting through worthless posts. If someone posts something on the main board, even with a YMMV, I click on it because I figure there is decent chance it could apply to my stores. This deal is for one specific store in one specific area and the OP hasn't even bothered to visit another local store in Chicago (of which there are dozens by the way) to confirm if its a deal beyond his specific local store. There are over 1,000 Best Buy locations in the United States. Each store has a manager who can put items on clearance at any given time. I don't want to sift through 1,000 posts every day because people can't be bothered to either place their posts in the regional area or the master Best Buy YMMV post.

I don't have a problem with someone posting something in the wrong area if they don't know any better, but at least have the class and courtesy to admit that you made a mistake and not behave like a wise ass when people politely mention the error in the hope that in the future you will take the extra five seconds to place the post in the correct area.

At my Best Buy (Chandler, AZ) they have square yellow stickers with "50% Off" written on it in pen. Last month they had Dracula X Chronicles PSP and Pop Cap collection 360 (normally $19.99) with the stickers on them.

Thanks OP. I'm going to go there tonight and see if they have any other games with stickers on them.

The problem with the internet is that you don't get the tone of someone's voice behind the text (unless you know them irl, or REALLY well online). And since the internet has moved to a more douchey, for the lulz, etc place in the past few years, a lot of gentle correction gets mistaken for sarcastic, snarky, down talking, etc backtalk by the people that get corrected

I personally don't mind b/c i have never have bothered to look at the regional forum so any deals there I miss. Regardless, it's up to the mod to decide...not you or I or anyone else on whether it belongs where it is. As long as its here, it apparently belongs here. If moved, then it apparently doesn't. I think YMMV in the title is the only real necessity. In my opinion, even if you're right, if you're being a dick you're part of the problem not the solution

Furthermore, your post and my response both don't belong here b/c they do not pertain to the deal.

I didn't see any stickers in my Best Buy :)

I love this site, I love posting deals i find and helping other CAG's out. My apologies to anyone I offended. I just took the time to go through 16 pages of this forum and could not find the Best Buy YMMV thread. I did however come across multiple threads for YMMV best buy deals where people were not criticized for posting them. I am aware a search function exists, but I would be willing to bet that over 50% of the people here don't use it. I dont believe in saying "tough shit" to those people. I also dont believe in offending people no matter how few of them there are, so next time I will post appropriately as not to upset anyone.

Whether or not you mind has nothing to do with anything. This site has mods, but they don't spend all time reviewing every single thread. Another of the great things about this site is that we all police ourselves so we don't have to have constant thread moving and deletion.

The fact that you don't see any stickers at your Best Buy is exactly the point. It's a regional or even an individual store YMMV, so it doesn't belong here. The problem with threads like this is that people will waste gas and time thinking this is something more than a single store deal which even with the two other people who posted here claiming their store had stickers, it appears it is not a consistent sale (i.e., there isn't a specific group of games on sale nor a consistent sale price) and just something that all of us have seen at Best Buy before from time to time. The fact is, many Best Buys have clearances from time to time, they use yellow or green or red stickers and the manager makes the decision about what is included and what the sale prices are. We don't need a new thread every time one of these individual store sales comes along.

I understand your point. I apologized. I just wish you would stop saying this is regional or a single store. We have had people from other states confirm this. It may be several different regions, but it is not just one. The YMMV in the title is enough. I apologized, can we leave this thread to the CAG's who want to know about a possible deal at their best buy? At this point I really don't ever want to post another deal on this site again, it's not worth it

I just want to say THANK YOU to Kevin, the guy that started this thread. He is getting all this crap for just trying to help people out. Give him a break already. Geez...

Fair enough. You are correct, but I do wonder how many people are like me and only come to this particular forum. To be honest, I visit this site daily and have since joining and have never visited the regional forum. I also find the search tool in dire need of a re-imagining because it has never helped me the few times i have tried to use it. Nothing is perfect and I'm ok with that, but "if" my best buy had the aforementioned clearance i would have been grateful that he posted it. "If" he would have followed the rules and posted in the regional I would have missed out.

I wish there were two video game deal forums. 1 New and 1 Used

What would be really cool is if "your particular region only" automatically filtered into the new or used game deal forum, then you wouldn't see something posted from another region. You also would not have to sift through a bunch of used deal posts or vice versa if that's not what you are looking for. Thanks to cag, I very rarely find the need to buy used b/c new can be obtained over time at great prices and i think the true CAG only needs used games if they are no longer sold new. Any games you can find new (with reasonable ease) should never be purchased used for the greater good of all cags. Used "newer" games are and have always been a ripoff and keep the new games at higher prices which of course it anti-cag.

Please forgive me for the length, but what I am suggesting is that you are correct as it is, but it should be done differently.

Honestly, what's wrong with this? They are telling the OP how the board is suppose to be. As someone else mentioned, if we all just post random stuff, the board will be chaos, and we'll never find anything. This is clearly something not many people are going to find, because Best Buy clearances are not national. They are done on the store level. I know I never find anything decent at the many BB stores near me.

I'm usually in defense of Forum Nazism, but the BB YMMV thread is horribly disorganized and nigh on useless in comparison to things like the Target thread. Of course BB is so YMMV in general that I usually don't even bother reading these threads and just do good old fashioned footwork. Where was I going with this post?

I could never find Battlefield Bad Company on the PS3 even when I wanted to pay full price at my local Best Buy, so I know its not there. :/

Those games sound like the budget value ones having a price sticker wrapped over their top and found in the holiday bins.

I wonder if Ace Combat X PSP gets the green sticker too. Been waiting to find a deal on it.

I've been waiting on a price drop on Some Paintball Game. Thanks OP!

(Since you can't tell my tone over the internet, I'm trying to be funny, not a dick.)

I was at mine earlier and noticed stickers on some games. I asked what they were about and was told if they buy a system then the games with stickers are half off. It was a very lame deal though because the games were just randomly on the shelves with no prices and my best buy doesn't have anything for me to scan it to find a price without taking it up to the register or an employee. Only one I remember was the Star Ocean for 360 which I was going to get for a friend if it was cheap.

Could you possibly maybe say which store you saw this at? Is it in Chicago? People have been complaining about it being a regional deal, but it's not even that without the store info.
