BEST BUY IMPLODES: Misses Revenue, Firing 400, Closing 50 Stores. Gaming clearance?
Best Buy isn't imploding, it's not even a sinking ship...yet. Right now it's more like they're getting rid of the decorative 200 foot-long wings on each side of the ship because they know that they're heading into some rough iceberg territory. That's a good analogy, right? Right.
Next time you can just say rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic

Best Buy's problem is that they are not competitive with Amazon and other online retailers. They are losing a lot of business that way. I've tried to get them to price match a bunch of different products in the past (TV's, Blu Ray players, Video Game hardware, etc) and they would never do it.

I'm sorry but your biggest competition is online and you aren't willing to match their prices? I know they have more overhead than Amazon does but lets face it, they have to figure something out or they're toast. Low end electronics they can't compete with Walmart and Target, high end they can't compete with Amazon. I don't know how they plan on staying in business. They need to get a CEO in there that has some ideas on how to change the company.

The way you combat online prices is with quality customer service and knowledgeable salespeople. That's not something BB is known for.

You're right. I remember back when I used to buy blu-rays I would hardly ever buy from Best Buy unless I was able to match Target's price, which was a pull straight from Amazon when they used to do that.

Best Buy might have had some good game prices over the holidays, but they are still overpriced on everything. And while the extended warranties on products aren't as bad as Circuit City's were (I remember some of those were a third of the cost of the tv, lol), they're still outrageous. A fucking TV should work or be covered for 5 years without having to pay extra for that service.

But I'm not sure there's much they can do to "figure it out." They have to pay brick & mortar overhead. It's also hard to match Amazon when Amazon might change their price on something daily. Not to mention other sites like NewEgg.

That's the future. Just wait until the next-gen consoles ditch the used games and/or everything goes digital a few more years down the road. We won't have Gamestop anymore, either.
