best buy price matching confusion. sears $30 xbox live

CAGiversary!
well today i decided to jump on that sears deal with the $30 for the xbox live 13 month card. knowing sears would more then likely not have any, i went and grabbed one of their physical ads, browsed to make sure they didnt have any, asked one of the workers and they even saying ran out the day it started.

well after grabbing the ad, i headed to best buy. grabbed the 13month card, bought it full price, went to customer service. this is what was weird as i have done a couple of price matchings before. the CS did their 110% which came out to $27.99, which i knew was going to be the price and was excited about. but then he blurted out $23.87

the guy said they do the 110% and then from there they subtract their own price($50) from the to the current $27.99 which comes to $22 + tax which is the $23.87

did the customer service guy mess up big time or what is exactly going on. do i go ahead and just be happy that i got the month card. or do i go back and question their policies

Sounds like he fucked up. Let's say you were price matching something that normally costs $100 at $80. By that employee's logic you should get that $100 item for $22 ($100 - $78).

whoa I could swear that I bought a 13 month live card at Best Buy for $30 a while back... was there a promotion or something for it?
so i should go back tomorrow and tell them of that CS?
Just let it be. You got a deal based on an employee fuck up.

Yeah, they also had it on sale for $30 a few weeks ago. Actually, a lot of stores have been selling it for $30 lately.

i am just a little worried because the guy that messed up, took my home phone number, which then he asked for me to confirm if the info on a touch screen device, like they use for credit cards, was all correct, i hit confirm. i was paying in cash so i just found it weird that i had to mess with a machine in the first place.

so i just dont want it coming back and might have the possibility of ruining my account.

Working in retail myself, you did nothing wrong. They aren't going to come back on you later. Just be thankful for the misunderstanding and move on

I forgot about PMing this deal. Damn, I'll have to get some money to do it. My Live runs up in a few months, but I'd like some security for it.
