CAGiversary!

I thought the Xbox Exhibition Demo discs were supposed to be .01 at Best Buy? I was there tonight and they were $5. I was hoping to pick up a bunch for cases....

Also, I spotted a horrid sight--an EA Gamer Gift Card! They are taking over everything!!

Also, my store only had GGC with $5 off $29.99 games. I couldnt find any $5 off $19.99 ones.

I'm almost positive the $19.99 GGC all expired last year. They still have them at many BB's but they expired.

You are wrong. I've used the 2005 one. I've also picked one up for another CAG.

The $19.99 GGC works until the end of this year (2005) becuase that is what they say on the back of the ones I have...
Odd....okay, I believe you, I'm wrong I just thought it was the $29.99 ones this year.
EDIT: You got the edit in before I could post. Well played.
Yeah only one's I saw today at my BB were the EA ones...*shivers*
is that good on Ubisoft games as well?

Yep, I have the 2005 version in my wallet right now.

It's certainly possible that your particular Best Buy location has pulled all of the '05 cards in favor of the crappier versions, but they do indeed exist.

Mine has the PS2, Xbox, and EA speicific ones as well (Haven't seen a Gamecube specific one, but I imagine they have those, too.)

Mine has the $19.95 that expire 12/31/05.....I picked up 10 of them the other day. I had the girl put $1 on each. She looked at me funny, I just said they were gag gifts. I may go back and get more. Sounds like they are getting harder and harder to find. Worst case, I just use all the cards at the end of the year. :)
I guess nobody knows about the demo disc pricing?
I had not heard of the demo discs going for 1 cent, just occasionally there were price drops on some of the demo discs and then you could get them for cheeper than the $4.99 price tag. I think its a YMMV type of thing that you may run across.

Ha, why didn't i think of saying they were gag gifts? That's brilliant!!

My BB has plenty of the new 2005 GGG, the only thing that place is good for.

You just answered your own question about why they're getting harder and harder to find...

While placing $1 on each of the five I purchased, I mentioned that I just love those gift cards to my friend in line with me. That was enough for the sales clerk. As for availability, I scrounged up the last unbeaten one at another store and began to worry about never seeing them again. Thankfully, the store closer to my house had plenty (hence, the purchase of five thereafter). Between BB sales and Circuit City accepting 'em, I figure all five will find a use this year.

Anyone know how much a Psone system costs at BB? My BB had a bunch last time I was there but I didnt check the price. Also I couldnt find it online on the BB website.

Thanks captaincold.

cheapass gundam: there not getting hard to find for me.  Like I said, I only got 10 last time and there was about 50 on the shelf. I may go back and get like 10 more....If the other people don't get in on it, they had there chance. Plus I doubt there will be a shortage of them due to the 2005 expiration date. If this was like the TRU free game thing from last year, everyone would have cleaned out by now.

I didn't know we could use the coupons at CC though. This makes them that much more valuable. :D

Do all CC accept the GGC or is that strictly YMMV? Is there anything in writing I can take along with me in case they give me a hard time?

It's YMMV. Just call before you go.

As a note for those looking for the cards, check the front of the store: at the one around here there aren't any of the 2005 $5 off $19.99 GCC in the games section, but there are plenty of them on a big rack w/ various types of gift cards at the front of the store.

I'll second that ('cuz that's where I found mine).

When I pick them up (and thankfully, for the moment, my BB's seem to still be carrying them), I put $5 on them, since I was told that it was the "minimum" the card is supposed to have on it.

Also, for those curious, there are pics of all 4 types of the GGC's in my picture gallery.

Yeah, I usually added $5 or $15 in the past when giving to others or simply buying for myself. This time, however, intrigued by reports of penny and dollar additions, I went with my bare minimum of one dollar per card. (Yeah, I probably could've gone lower, but adding a dollar seemed like the responsible thing to do.) The cashier had no objections, so that's what I went with. If the $5 minimum ever becomes something more than unofficial policy, I'll raise my contributions back to their original levels.

It's a big ol' $50.00. I can't believe it either, but tis true.

So it depends on the CC as to whether or not they will honor competitors coupons? I know one CC that's across the street from BB and so that sounds like a likely candidate.

Thanks for the tip, I'll have to check with some of my local CCs.
