For those that were speculating, I can confirm that the program will be starting up again on 7/15/2012 and running until 8/11/2012. Just like last time it will be good for ANY blu ray 9.99 and up.

There was a note in the terms of this promotion that this time around if you visit the best buy mobile dept in the first week and do a free upgrade check for your cell phone account, it will entitle you to one trade and save coupon for the $5 off a blu.
Credit: midgat0 from Blu-ray.com

Now, here are some commonly asked questions.

1. How does this work?

Basically, you bring in a DVD to Customer Service and they will give you a $5 off Blu-Ray coupon. Pretty simple.

2. Can you use it on any Blu-Ray?

Only on Blu-Rays $9.99 and up. Previously, music Blu-Rays have been excluded, but everything else is game.

3. Is there a limit of coupons you can receive?

5 per day seems to be the limit.

4. When does the coupons expire?

Last day of the promotion (8/11).

5. Do multiple disc DVDs = multiple coupons?

No. If you trade in a TV show season boxset = 1 coupon, not 3 or 4.

6. Can I trade in ANY DVD?

Naturally, they won't accept DVD-R/RW's nor will they accept pornos. So, no trading in Wii Like 2 fuck Part 3.

7. Can this be applied to past orders?

No. At most you can do a return/rebuy, but you would have to pay the current price so it may not be worth it.

8. Do I get the coupon back if I return the Blu-Ray I used a coupon on?

YMMV. Rule of thumb, be sure you are content with what you're getting before you use a coupon on it.

9. Do the DVDs I trade have to have the actual artwork and any inserts?

YMMV, but unless you get a real douche at CS, most won't care as long as it's in a case. (Generic DVD case will do)

10. I'm low on DVDs, any suggestions?

Dollar stores and places like Big Lots will occasionally carry $1 DVDs that you can get to trade in to Best Buy. Garage sales work as well if you can find one that is selling DVDs on the cheap.

11. Do coupons stack?

Nope. 1 coupon = 1 Blu-Ray purchase. Of course you can use multiple coupons in one transaction if you are purchasing the same amount of Blus.

Thought I'd toss this in here as well:
For anyone that bought the combo packs of Ice Age 1 & Ice Age 2, would you mind posting the SKU # for each item from your receipt? I ran by one BB to pick up the first two movies in the combo packs and they were completely gone. I didn't think I'd have issues finding them on BestBuy.com, though they don't come up by title search. Having the SKU # of each item would make it easier to search, especially when it doesn't come up.
Abeja, since you bought all three of the Ice Age movies, could you check your receipt?

Love these deals. My Dollar Trees do not sale DVDs, but I managed to get a few deals from a little store for $1.35 a dvd. I'll be hitting up some yard sales this weekend.

Managed to pick up : Green Lantern 3D combo pack (15), Dark Knight Steelcase (5), Batman Begins Steelcase (5), Hangorver Part II combo pack (8), and Horrible Bosses combo pack (8).

PLENTY of the Steelcases were still out on the floor.
Horrible Bosses was on sale last week, if I'm not mistaken but still rang up 12.99.
I tried to get the Inception Steelcase as part of this deal but was denied. It rang up 19.99 and I didn't feel like fooling with the manager.

My BB had plenty of the steelbooks. I was worried they wouldnt but had atleast 15 copies of each movie.

Was that the 3 disc edition? I saw some people talking about it but I tried picking it up today at it was like 30.

EDIT: Nvm it is the 2 disc version. Might go back later this week and grab a few more movies.
Sucks that both Robin Hood Men in Tights and Enemy at the Gates aren't in-store, as far as i can tell. Those are my top 2 wanted for this deal.
I found a couple movies at my local store that weren't listed as in-store. The in-store listing goes away when the quantities are really low, so you should do a walkthrough next time you're there just to check.

I've checked (scoured) my two closest stores already for them, and no luck. Gonna have one of the goons check the system to see if any of the other stores in the area have them tomorrow. Thanks!

Today I felt really stupid wasting my time trying to find a title that the website said was in stock. Didn't see it anywhere under the right letter so I was scanning nearby to see if anyone moved it. Then I checked the end caps and the shelves that they devote to titles on sale.

Turns out it there were a bunch more Blu-rays on sale on a mini rack display full of DVDs and the Blu-rays were on the other side facing AWAY from customer traffic.

picked up all blu ray.......

beauty and the beast, $25 after promo
the lion king, $13 after promo
dumbo, $13 after promo
date night, $5 after promo,
and super 8, on sale for $7.99

Well, I feel pretty good about what I was able to get tonight. Most of my DVD cases are in storage, except for a few movies that I had already upgraded to blu ray and planned on trading on Goozex, but nobody ever wanted them, lol. The best part is one of the DVDs was a 300 bonus disc preview thing that I ironically got from Best Buy for free years ago, which had a ticket to see the movie in it. I wasn't sure if they'd take it, and the girl kind of hesitated when she looked at it. But she didn't say anything, and gave me my coupons. I also did the phone upgrade check. Unfortunately, my store had mostly been pillaged already, and only had a single copy of Ice Age 3 (but strangely, a million BB and TDK's...which I already own). I ended up walking out with:

Ice Age 3 - $5
Red Riding Hood (actually found one with a slipcover, which was surprising) - $5
Green Lantern Extended Cut - $8
V for Vendetta - $5
Butterfly Effect - $5

Not bad for $30.

Same exact situation for me yesterday. Was trying to find Blade II and had to get an employee to help me out. Searched on the computer and he said there's only one left in the store and it didnt list the location. Spent 20 min scouring the shelves, endcaps, etc until I finally found it sitting on a mini display that was right near the entrance of the store that was kinda far away from the movie section.

Was able to pick up:

BB Steelbook
TDK Steelbook
Blade 2
Happy Gilmore
Full Metal Jacket

All $4.99 each after coupons, also used a $10 coupon from the instore pickup deal so ended up paying $17. Best part was I returned my old BB and TDK steelbooks when they were on sale for $10 about a month ago so I was able to save even more.

Extra bonus is, even if you wanted to buy the digital copy from Amazon, it's only 9.99, so you get an extra 5.00 in credit. Nice!

EDIT: And you can double dip, just in case nobody has mentioned it yet. Same code can be redeemed for Amazon, and again for UV.

Ended up checking the online ad (duh, should have done that in the first place), which thankfully had the SKU #'s.

IA1 - 4262059
IA2 - 4262068
IA3 - 9559998

Those, of course, didn't come up on BB.com either. :wall: Time to call my usual store tomorrow morning and see if they can put IA1 & IA2 aside for me. Hopefully, they'll at least match in RSS so they can get pulled. They're not orderable on BB.com for in-store pickup.

what does bestbuy do with these dvds they are taking in? are they just going to recycle them or sell them to some company like NorAm? i'm thinking this is just a promotion to get people buying blu rays.

I'm sure they sell them off, I doubt they get $5 per DVD but I'm sure they have a decent deal in place.

I picked up Batman Begins (steel) for $5 today but I forgot to bring more then 1 DVD to trade in (doh!). Gotta go back for these movies...
Matrix
Dark Knight (steel)
Happy Gilmore
Sherlock Holmes
Troy

I think it isn't worth it to get the 3 discs version because they haven't put that one on sale like it suppose to do.

The odd thing is, both the 2-discs and the 3-discs (BB Exclusive) were the same regular price (29.99) when it wasn't on sale.

The best deals are the ones on sale for exactly 9.99 and you can drop it down to 4.99 with the trade ups.

It is disappointing to limit to price that were 9.99 and up only otherwise it would be awesome get Super 8 for $2.99.
Does anyone know if you can trade in HD-DVD's for this promotion?
YMMV. Some stores have accepted them
I have from last month the Dark Knight Steelbooks (listed as BB Exclusives) and the new batch say "with Sneak Peak of DKR". I'd like to return and rebuy w/$5 off but I see that they are DIFFERENT SKUs?! I think CS is going to give me a hassle when in fact it's basically the same. (ala MI:GP exclusive). Anyone with sucess?

I thought i was gonna have that problem too. The ones i bought didnt have the sneak peek but i returned 2 that had it. It went fine for me tho on the return.

Has anybody figured out a reasonable way to track down the Ice Age movies since their store availability isn't listed on bestbuy.com? I know the SKU's were posted, but that doesn't seem to help nuch with the website.

Check Dollar Tree if you have them where you live, they have some cheap ones.

Pretty much. They all get wrapped up and tossed into the same bin where they toss all the other recyclable stuff (old tvs, laptops, etc).

I don't think they can re-sell them, otherwise they'd have to tracking personal information like they do for video game trade-ins. I think they just recycle them.

They just want people to buy blu-rays (probably so they can eliminate carrying DVDs).
Yeah, that's kinda what I figured. Thanks, shrike.
Called my local store with both the SKU # for Ice Age 1 that Abeja posted and the one I had from the weekly ads section of BestBuy.com and the rep I spoke with couldn't find it via either SKU #. :whistle2:s

They eventually found them via the old fashioned method of checking the stacks for the item and put IA1 and IA2 aside for me.

has anyone tried doing the phone upgrade at multiple stores for the coupon and done so successfully? i've run out of dvds to trade in from the previous promotions.

You go to the site where you redeem the code on your insert and pick to redeem at Amazon Instant Video. That will get you a second code to redeem on Amazon.

Your digital copy insert should be in with your movie. Just follow the instructions on that insert for "How To Get Your Digital Copy".

The site you should first be going to is:
www.paramountdigitalcopy.com/missionimpossibleghostprotocol

There is where you'll choose Amazon Instant Video.

Was wondering this myself. I don't have any of the other blus though to check. Go to www.paramountdigitalcopy.com to see if you have any of them.

Titles for the lazy:
Tin Tin
Footloose
Hugo
Puss In Boots
Transformers: DotM
Paranormal Activity 3
Kung Fu Panda 2
Super 8
Captain America
Thor
Rango
True Grit
Justin Bieber Never Say Die
No Strings Attached

I had the same issue but they (finally after some arguing) just adjusted the price. My Best Buy had no green copy. The copy I got is sku 5072261. At my store this is the one they put out and had a $9.99 label under it. On the site it still shows this sku as being $14.99 but there is no other sku for another version as far as I can tell. If they had decent CS they would have just adjusted it.
