Best CC clearance classic games for 360?

My brothers birthday is coming up and he recently got a 360. I thought instead of one 360 game, I would instead get him 3 or 4 of the classic games that are on sale/clearance for $8.96 at CC lately.

I only have a Xbox1 myself and I know some games work on the 360 (seen the compat list), but after doing a little reading (about HL2, my first choice) it seems like not all the games on the list are necessarily a good choice.

So I thought I would ask and see what you guys (who own 360s and have probably tried a few classic games yourselves) think. Thanks for any advice!

You're pretty limited on Games from the CC clearence list.

I'd say just get him the Halo Triple pack and make it look like you spent 60.00

Half Life 2 is great.. Not many other BC titles on sale though.

Of course neither of my CC have it available. So maybe I'll just grab HL2 and Halo2 and a 1mo Gamefly sub...

Note: YOur CC might not even have any of the games. Like, when HL2 was 10 (about a month or 2 ago) it was in a bin with one other.

Don't get him Half Life 2 because they are developing a version of it for 360 so I wouldn't buy that one.

I'll third Hulk, that game's awesome, also agree not to get Half-Life, and definitely get Halo if you can find it (you probably won't)

I'm personally waiting for HL2 on 360 also, but I don't think it'd be a bad gift buy for $9...

From what I hear the frame rate has a fairly tough time keeping smooth. If you only plan on playing once then either get the PC version or 360. Otherwise the experience from the Xbox version won't be worthy of HL2.

Don't forget the GameRush sale. It has a somewhat different title selection, so it may help expand your range of compatible choices.

Seeing as HL2 for the 360 has never been confirmed and has o release date or even a hypothetical one, I wouldn't rule out the Xbox version. It's cheap and available now. Two fine qualities that for gift giving purposes trump the superior version whose availability, if ever, is a long ways off.
