Best Current Foreign Rock Band?
Does Muse count as "rock"? I can't think of any other "foreign" group I listen to more, currently.
Yes, anything with a bass, drummmer, guitar and Singer is rock in my books (even if I can't stand them). :)

dragonforce is great. is amon amarth even big in the states? i mean im all for pagan viking metal, i just didnt know more than 50 people bought it here.
Dragonforce is Webster's definition of "gimmick band." No way in hell.
how is dragonforce a "gimmick band"
But Flogging Molly isn't a foreign band. Now are they the best band listed? Of course
Exactly and that's all that matter in the end:D:lol:
how is dragonforce a "gimmick band"
Dragonforce is "eh" to decent, but have you ever heard of Rhapsody? So much better and they did the speed/power metal thing a thousand times better.

theres nothing speed about rhapsody, they are "film score metal".

From Rhapsody's website...

In 1997 a holy thunder rolled through the international metal scene as the Italian metal band Rhapsody released their debut album, Legendary Tales. Incorporating classical music and baroque sounds, they invented a completely new genre, “Film Score Metal”, in which they blended the styles of movie soundtrack composers such as Danny Elfman, Hans Zimmer and Basil Poledouris with modern melodic heavy metal and themes from the fantasy genre.

Why would I make something like that up, I love these guys, I know them well.

They sound too similar to Dragonforce for me to consider them in their own made up separate genre.
Not foreign, but best band of all time AUDIOSLAVE

and The Nightwatchman (Tom Morello F ing Rocks) FTW!!!
lol. viral marketing?

Dragonforce is alright but there are a million better power metal bands.
How about ah ah Labyrinth, Angel Dust, Gamma Ray, Luca Turilli's other bands, Ayreon, etc.
Kamelot (US), Virgin Steele (US), Symphony X (US)
I love Magnum (UK) too. Pride of Lions for AOR.
Since when is Flogging Molly foreign? Sure the singer came from Ireland but they formed in L.A.
Just because some asshole ex-assrock band sings in a brogue, people think they're foreign.

On that note, I suppose you could add Rancid to the list. They're British, right?
no Guitar Wolf? psh.
Have they released anything since Bass Wolf died? The last release of theirs I have is "UFO Romantics."
Film Score Metal? That's such bullshit. As are most "subgenres".
Agreed (to an extent). Rhapsody (or Rhapsody of Fire, whatever that stupid shit they changed it to) is simply power metal. They're fucking awesome power metal, but they're just power metal.

But still, Boris > everything mentioned here so far. Except maybe Guitar Wolf.

Lover Rock was the last full album with him (that I know of) but they did get a new bassist and release a greatest hits album.

I'll classify metal as rock for this poll. And also, my choice for "Current" is as follows. All time best is Black Sabbath.

Other - Children of Bodom

Well, I already mentioned that in my post up above.

Said that already, but I agree with your point of their new name. I was actually kind of shocked when I stumbled onto that bit of information one time looking them up. Oh yaeh, Guitar Wolf is great and so is that movie they were in. What was it again, Wild Zero?

If you mean "Unknown" foreign rock band., there are a ton of great ones. The best would have to be Radiohead.

I would check out the Guillemots. They're more popish but they're better than Coldplay. And I don't mean, "I think they're better." I mena that as a definitive. Check their myspace and first hear Trains to Brazil and then We're Here.

Did you guys really expect me to include every foreign rock band ever, that 90% of people haven't heard of and instead only included the most popular ones?

Although not including In Flames or Children of bodom was a huge mistake on my part...

since when was amon amarth one of the most popular foreign bands?
They sound too similar to Dragonforce for me to consider them in their own made up separate genre.
oh cmon, dragonforce and rhapsody are very different. dragonforce is far more technical and rhapsodys production value is so much bigger.
Since when is Flogging Molly foreign? Sure the singer came from Ireland but they formed in L.A.
I don't get it. He's Irish, they formed in LA, and they sound like some Boston pub band.

And this poll is stupid, there's like 10,000 foreign crust bands that are so much better than any band YOU think is cool.
