I am considering buying a 360 for christmas, but i am unsure where can I get the best deal. I read that microcenter offer 100mir for 360 system. And when i read coconut circular, it say 40 dollar mir and a free controller or something. Overstock percent off is good as well? Also, if i am given a choice, should i buy in store insurence or buy the replacement plan from microsoft direct?

The best deal IMO is Micro Center because you can get $100 MIR through 12/3 and if you open a credit card with them you'll get $100 reward points that can be redeemed for $100 credit on your statement. This makes the $399 premium system cost you $199 plus tax. Since the credit card deal requires a $399 purchase, it won't work with the core system, only the premium system.

I'm pretty sure Dell.com is still having the 15% off any purchase above $400 going on right now with free ship. I scored a Premium 360 system for $360.40 after tax earlier this week thru them.

Yeah, it's a few dollars more than the Overstock deal but if you are looking to buy some games & accessories with your 360, Dell is the way to go since you'll also get 15% off on those items as well.

that's not so bad, too bad i cant combine it with my EPP discount (looks like it only works from the home office site).

Still, i am a week off from moving back to near a microcenter and am narrowly going to miss that deal, that really bothers me, i wonder if anyone knows one as good as that elsewhere.

I also wonder how long the Dell deal will last, since in the meantime before i move i'd still like to try and find something more comprable to the microcenter deal.

I think I am personally going to pick up the bundle we have at work (Costco). It is $449 + tax, but comes with an extra wireless controller, a plug in charge kit (or whatever it's called) and XBL Arcade Volume 1 Unplugged. I am still considering the Overstock deal, but I haven't decided yet...

Costco always has good bundles. If you like Football games CC is giving 360-buyers there NCAA Football 07. I dont know if that's any good but it'll save you $50

i'm less interested in bundles that give you more for a little more on top, but rather a hefty cost cut, and then i decide what else i want to buy.

The MicroCenter deal has been extended until December 31st. Source:

Are you kidding me? Has anyone actually successfully received the rebate and the credit to confirm this deal is legit? Last I read in the other topic was that the MIR doesn't ever show up...
so am I going to get better deal online or offline? also, in store insurance or buy microsoft direct insurance.
If you're concerned about it breaking down, get it at Costco for the return policy. Or, do what I did and do the Overstock deal and then spend the money you saved back into Microsoft's 2-year protection plan (comes in the box).
doesnt work with video games
It does if you add a non-videogame filler into your cart. Look into the Overstock thread in the VGD forum.

so people arent misinformed, at this point now that the deal has been extended the microcenter deal does seme to the best, although i imagine you're discussing the less economical dell and overstock deals still because yall arent near an MC store, it being extended makes it now doable for me because i move back to minnesota (and the st. louis park MC) in mid-december.

The rebate hasn't been going on long enough for it to show up for anyone yet. And the $100 rewards on the credit card might take a billing cycle or two to show up as well... I didn't intend to get a 360, but this deal is so good it really has me on the fence. At least it sounds like they are extending it through the end of December, so I have some time to mull it over.

i've tried doing this like ten fucking times. Each time adding a non video game item. Books, pens, movies, whatever. Never worked. I tried it with the 12% off, the 10% off and the $40.00 off and none of them fucking worked.

This it what it looks like each fucking time:

Subtotal:$405.98Shipping Charge:*$2.95 Tax:$0.00

Grand Total:$408.93

I'm still looking for a good deal. I have yet to see one and be completely convinced that i can warrant the purchase of a 360.

I just got an email from overstock that offer me 15% off my order and 1 dollar shipping. Is it an overall better deal than the microcenter deal?

It would come to $341 (w/o tax if app.) so it more than the Microcenter deal but I personally try to stay away from MIR. Its up to you.

For the life of me I can't figure out why this guy is selling the whole thing so cheap, but you end up paying an extra $25 (as opposed to $430 after tax in-store) for four 360 games, a charging kit, and a gamecube with games and controller.

Of course, with this you don't get a warranty.
It's all broken, and it registers you as a sex offender

If you have an American Express card you can try to get a wish certificate on the wishlist site...www.mylifemycard/wishlist. TRU is 25% off any purchase, as is Amazon. Best Buy gives you up to a $150 gift card depending on how much you spend. The only stipulation is that you have to use your card for the purchase. (I got my PSP this way last year from TRU)
