is the original ghost in the shell movie dvd out of print? I've been wanting to get this, but haven't had any luck finding it any of my stores. I can get it online, but I'm trying to find it at B&M stores.

i would imagine when gits 2 hits on dvd, the first will see a boost, making it easier to find at b&m- as far as i know its not oop

Yeah I always see at least one copy of the original GITS movie at fye and Suncoast inside my nearby mall.

By the way I think Bandai is planning to release a special edition of the movie in December. Read this from a press release:

The year will end with a new beginning when, on December 7th, Manga Entertainment releases a Special Edition DVD of the movie that started it all. “Ghost in the Shell,” which was the first anime video to ever reach number one on the Billboard chart back in 1996 and has since sold over 1 million DVD and VHS units in the United States alone, will be re-released with enhanced audio/visual and language options in a feature-packed set that is sure to please even the most die-hard fans.

I've seen the original movie at various Targets for $19.99.

I would recommend it. Its got an understandable story, and even looks better.

Also, you can find either volume at some targets for 19.99

I wouldnt even consider purchasing this series.

Ghost in the shell 2 the movie is another thing.

*Drools to see it again on DVD

Stand Alone Complex are for the people who like action like me. The movies on the other hand are too philosophical and thematic for me.
