Best deal on a 20" LCD HDtv(under $300) and/or a CHEAP wireless router)???

I'm close to being in the market for an HDtv finally, but I have no need for one of those behemoths I see everyone else posting about just getting a 'deal' on in various threads.

So, are there any reliable, CHEAP 20" or so HDtv's with a built in digital tuner that I can get for three bills or UNDER?

Please refrain from the 'you need a larger tv to really appreciate digital broadcasts' and the 'you can't properly watch Blu-Ray movies on a 20" HDtv' comments, since I'm NOT wow'd by digital/HD anything and I don't really give a shit, I just want the damn thing to play my PS3 on and I don't want it to break the fuckin' bank.

EDIT: I'm also seriously looking for a cheap wireless router, one which will work with a 40 gb PS3 and push a mere 768kb DSL signal upstairs in my house approximately 30-40 feet from the modem.

I would optimally like to find a combo DSL modem/router with wireless capabilities, so I wouldn't have a modem AND a router going, but I'm trying to do things on the cheap.

Any suggestions on the router?

I picked up a 20" LG last year as a kitchen TV, and it works pretty good. Might be hard to find around $300, though you never know.

BB and CC have their house brand TV's around that price, if you take a look at those possibilities.

I saw a nice 26" one for $358 on clearance at a local Kmart last night, but the other even larger ones(which were bound to go down even further this month) were LONG GONE.

I mean I don't need a larger one, but if there's one on a super cheap clearance price that's bigger than the 20 or so inch size I only need for my room, I'll grab it.

Your name really fits you to a tee... Id buy bigger than 20" even if it was just for the PS3... Id save my money and go bigger, but that is me, my smallest tv is 30"

Id check targets from time to time... mne are known to clearance out odd things at odd times

... and if you dont care about digital broadcasts (excuse me... arent wowed by them) why do you want the built in digital tuner... on that small a size it wouldnt make as big a difference

I'd only want the digital tuner so I could tell Comcast to go fuck off about their newest plan to nickel and dime us. I was told when I asked about 'how Comcast would be with us during the switch to digital', that we would have to RENT THEIR BOXES for our tvs at a cost of $2 per tv per month. We have three tv's in our house, so $6 a month to keep them on Comcast's lately spotty service is a total ripoff. I know a bunch of stuff I could be doing with that $72 a year.

Even funnier was when I asked if I could just buy a box from the net from someone like Best Buy and OWN my own box and not have to rent theirs. They said they'd SPIKE the boxes and prevent us from using them, since they would view them as illegal boxes since they weren't theirs.

As for the tv size, I've always had a smaller sized TV and each of the SDtv's I've had have worked well for me for MANY years. I had a 13" RCA color tv when I first got a tv in my room as a kid, then I ended up with a 20" Sharp tv which lasted me 15-16 years easily. Now, I have a Panasonic 20" SDtv, which is good enough for me.

I mean, if I can find a good deal on a slightly larger screen(like someone pointed out to me on NewEgg in another thread)I might go a bit bigger, but anything outside of $200-300(tops) is pushing it on my spending limit.
Wrong forum?
Probably, but I noticed a thread talking about a deal someone got on an HDtv, so I figured it was allowed here since many equate HDtvs with games anymore, thus connecting the two.

Or at least that was the loose connection I needed to determine that this was an acceptable forum to put the thread in.

If it IS in the wrong forum, then if the mods want to move it, so be it.

Thanks for the heads up on an HDtv, SadClown. I know some may look down on off-brands and non name brands, but when you're limited on fundage, it's sometimes your ONLY choice.

I think the closest Sears repair center to me is Syracuse up in NY, which is about 2 hours or more drive from me, so that's definitely not worth it for me. But, I'll keep checking out my local CC and BB and I think my closest Sears had a bunch of display models really cheap recently.

Probably not what you want but your best bet to get a 20" HD display at this range would be a computer monitor with a upscaling VGA upscaling converter box.

You can easily find a 19" computer monitor for under $200 and that'll leave you $100 for a VGA converter box- I'm not sure how much you need to spend for a good one but I think $100 should be enough.

Hell, I have a 19" Dell analog LCD monitor now as it is, but I really don't want the display for more than the games. Now, if anyone can suggest to me a 20" or so LCD monitor which comes complete with speakers that'd work for the PS3 without having to jack in with a seperate sound cable, that's be just great. Thanks in advance....

OP if your looking for cheap I might suggest going to CC the one I work at has our brand tv the ELEMENT 22" for under 300 if you can find an open box. the one we got is like 250 and isnt bad at all. The model for you to search online is ELE FLX2211B. I was gonna get it until I found a 22" vizio at Costco for 369. It's alittle more but it has 2 HDMI in and 90 days to return to Costco if I dont like. Hope that helps.

edit: for the above poster you can connect ps3 to that monitor with either a hdmi to dvi connector or a cable that does the same thing. I did that with my monitor until I got my tv. It looked great.

Thanks bossman and bill123. I added to the OP, as I'm now also looking for a cheap wireless router. If anyone has a used/like new one they could let go for a good deal, let me know.....it also has to work with a PS3.
