At a local GameStop there was this particularly cool female cashier, who I'd always end up talking with. One time I picked up Mario 3 for NES, along with one of those 4-way system selectors from MadCatz. My total rang up as $10.86 (which was the price of the system selector + sales tax). She flat-out didn't charge me for Mario 3! I even reacted to the low price after she rung it up, but she was all like "hey man, don't question it!"

Naturally I appreciated that... I got a nice cheap ass deal, considering that Mario 3 had a $7.99 price tag on it.

Incidentally enough, that cashier was fired shortly afterward. Dammit. But anyway, post your best "Nice Ass Employee" stories here.

You should have got a phone number, and you probably would have got more than a free game.

In gamestop, i have friends that give me free stuff. Sometimes in stores I've never been to before I get free stuff, So I'll say South Side Chicago area Gamestop employee's are Nice Ass Employees!!

12 months of Xbox live from a Blockbuster employee.

"We don't have any use for that (the SCPT trial card). You can have it if you want."

WIN

Actually I did get her number later on... good call

A lady at a garage sale was selling all of her son's games and game systems because he was going away to college, so I got the following:

Nintendo 64 w/ Ocarina of Time, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Mario Kart, Mario64, Waverace, and various other titles

Dreamcast w/ Soul Caliber, Shenmue and some other games that I haven't gotten around to playing yet

PS1 with some games, none of which look that good

and...

A FRIGGIN' ATARI! It had pong, two star fighter games and a game in japanese that I don't understand

all for $30. It was, indubitably, TEH WIN!!!11

Weapon X - Which South Side Gamestops you frequent. I, too, am a south side Chicagoan and have gotten some decent deals (as well as some awful ones). Most recently the gamestop employees have been giving me some free leftover giveaways...I've picked up quite a few t-shirts and demo disks and music cds...
FREE PS2 games from gamestop, was my friends last day there and i and many other ppl got hooked up!! I know its bad right!!!
Haha they probably haven't even made up the losses yet!

I went to EB, and got the Zelda OoT/MQ disk for 1 cent if I signed up for their magazine. But I got the magazine free. So that's 12 issues of a game magazine and a game for a penny. Score!

Not sure if this counts, but...

Sonic Advance, $6.50. The only reason I got it for that price was because I managed to talk an employee into getting the game out of the case and checking the price for me.

Not related, but it's fun having people think you're too stupid to read a price sticker...and then watching their face when the item scans at a much lower price.

Heh...My friend Rob, Ex-Gamestop manager (great guy) would give me some Free promo shit all the time. Nice guy.

A lot of price errors people have given to me in the past. People are usually nice. Its the people who DONT give it to you after they find a bad price (or in my case a GOOD price) that piss me off.

What do you mean they don't give it to you at that price? I would have words with the manager over that issue.

There were these times ago that I used to go to a certain local EB before they went bankrupt because a certain employer (i think he was the head of the store) was fired for sellin burned cds to sonmeone. (he was on one of those feautured for the questions in April's CGW Articles.) Well another employer there had to move somewhere else to a new EB. I went in that EB for about the first time, and he probably recognized me. He gave me a free GMR magazine. Free deal, yep. :)

Of course, I figure that one is likely a harbinger of things to come, and just about every other "deal" and scam that has been pulled and talked about on this site will surface eventually.

Most of the other ones are completely benign, but I have a feeling that the mood and content of the post could shift very rapidly.

This thread could very easily be fertile ground for a flame war, and I don't want to be the one to spark the first match.

You may have been by making that poster...still, if it gets out of hand, the mods can lock it down. I wouldn't worry until it actually erupts. :)

today at office max 100 dvd-r spindle for 29.99. this ladie was awsome. i didnt say nothing just payed and ran out of the store.

40 dollars from a game shop I used to frequent for...

Dreamcast, two controllers, rumble pack, VMU, Spirit of Speed 1930, Street Fighter Alpha III (JP), Game Shark, Street Fighter Third Strike, Monaco Grand Prix Racing, and Soul Caliber (JP).

Same shop:

Opened and used Harvest Moon 64 (double) for brand new Romance of Three Kingdoms VI and credit.

Biohzard: Code Veronica slip case and Space Channel 5 (both JP) 10 dollars.

The employees liked me.

At the end of January, I went to EB to see if I could take advantage of the buy one SNES/Genesis game, get one free sale. I didn't find anything on the floor, but the assistant manager grabbed a pile of SNES games from behind the counter, that he had saved for himself. He had decided he didn't really need them all that much, and said I could buy them if I wanted to. In the pile, I got copies of Final Fantasy II, Final Fantasy III, Super Mario RPG, and Super Mario All-Stars, all for $81, with the deal, as well as my EB edge card. Needless to say, I'm always very kind to my friends over at EB.
