Ive recently gone into a craze for purchasing and trading for games that require specific accessories or special controllers to be enjoyed in full.

Up till now, ive gotten my hands on Taiko Drum master with the drumset, Timecrisis 3 with Guncon 2, and the classic DDR series-haven gotten a red octane pad for half price. Im far from done yet--But Im having truble deciding what to get/import.

What are your faves? Theres something about having these special controllers that add such an awesome dynamic to playing games. Im hooked.

Don't forget about the fishing rod controller, the racing wheel, the Onimusha sword controller, and the eye toy.

I have a skating game called 'Yanya Caballista' (sp?). The game itself isn't really that great but it came with an interesting accessory. It was a tech deck type thing that hooked on to both the analog sticks so you hold the controller sideways and play it like it was a tech deck. Pretty clever.

I have that game! got it for 3 bux used, but with no "board"... :(

Hey Eclipse... Love the Matrimelee avatar... know of anywhere I can download it for emulator...?

[quote name='Eclipse']lol to that.
Theres this one game that has had my eye for a while. It seems to be DDR, but with something else going on.

Anyone heard of exceed?

Yep, that would be pump it up. Same idea as ddr, except you have 4 corner arrows and one center arrow. Changes it up a bit, some people prefer one over the other just due to arrow structure.

Now, if you're talking weird controllers I'm glad I found this. Thats my LIFE. I have an obsession with that. Off the top of my head I have drummania(actual drumset) Guitar freaks( yes, you play guitar) Seaman(microphone) Beatmania(dj set with buttons) a u force controller for nes (worst controller evar) power glove, 3d glasses for the master system, ddr, donkey konga, will be buying a taiko drum tomorrow, samba de amigo maracas, and... I think thats about it.

Thats pretty damn impressive nonetheless. Ive been looking for Beatmania controllers for a decent price for a while now..PLay-asia seems to be the only dudes who have them..for $90 and $400 respectively. Guitar freaks is something ive been looking for..but have had zero luck finding guitars or the game.

But drummania?? What the hell. Ever heard of keyboardmania? That is an insanely hard game..played it at a local arcade.

Are we allowed to count the games that have "accessories", but don't require them?

DEFINITELY Steel Battalion.

Donkey Konga

Samba De Amigo. You just cannot overstate how much fun a game is that you play with maracas.

Atari 5200 Space Dungeon. It had a heavy plastic contraption that held both controllers so you could use the sticks similar to SmashTV.

I always tend to have a lot of fun with light gun games. Time Crisis 3 is probably my current fave as far as that goes, of course for the time being I can't play my PS2 copy since someone stole my Guncon 2 :whistle2:x

Yeah, I've encountered all the bemani series at one point or another. I spent 2 months in Hong Kong and that stuff is everywhere. Except for DDR oddly enough, I didn't find one machine for it anywhere. Probably because smoking is allowed, so you'd die after one song. I couldn't take keyboardmania, I never did it cause there was way too many keys. Closet thing I came to trying was pop n music which has 9 brightly colored buttons that you have to hit. And I'm not sure if they are in any arcades here in the US but the Taiko drums on the arcade machine are HUGE. They really have a 2 foot diameter and probably 2 foot length too. I hauled the beatmania, 2 guitars and drumset back in my luggage on the way back. Oh and a modded ps2 to be able to play the games. Heres the kicker. those 4 controllers, cost me about 55 bucks. Asia is awesome.

what about the powerglove??...its so BAD (movie quote)

umm..wasnt there a gba game that had a sun detector? bonsai or sumthing or boktai : the sun is in your hands or sumthing..

Yes, though that was built into the cart itself. Kinda stuck out like the rumble thing on some GBColor games.

I'm not quite up to your caliber but I too have a unique controller obsession.

I have 2 ddr pads, 2 samba maraccas, 2 taikos, 2 kongas, guncon 1, guncon 2, eyetoy, mics for the xbox, ps2, and gamecube, and the big boy Steel Batallion.

the Nintendo Revolu.....I mean, U-Force! dunno if any games required it, but it's so weird that it deserves a mention. Anyone ever use one of these things?

I love virtual on, the ps2 game isnt as good as the saturn one but if you get the joysticks for it (kinda expensive) its supposed to be an arcade like experience which if you can recall is incredible.

Think it was the cartridge itself that had the detector.

That game actually plays better if you switch the layout to use the normal controller.

Besides, it's not a new idea... here's a surfing game from around 20 years ago that did the same thing. And check out those graphics:

There were ads for mike tysons punchout for it, I tried it, and the controller is so unresponsive since it has to do with moving your hand through a specific area on the controller. I own it actually. Very bad purchase.

Oh and I own both Boktais, the game is one of my favorite games and the sun is mixed in in unique ways. You actually need to have sun hitting the censor for some puzzles and others you have to block the sun from hitting it. The story has to do with vampires so it does actually make sense to have sun in the game.

Holy crap. Well-one of my vacation spots this summer actually is Hong Kong. But one thing dude...Are those controllers bootleg? I just remember Hong Kong being one of the most piracy riddled places on the planet. :0

Star Raiders for the Atari 2600. I have this one. It comes with a little extra controller that looks like a TV remote control and has a dozen little buttons on it.

They don't bootleg controllers. You can't really do that since its a physical object. In fact the term for it would be "3rd party". They only bootleg games there, and some little figurine toys and yu-gi-oh cards. You can tell whats bootleg and whats not too, the hardest thing to distinguish is GBA games though ps2 games come only with the insert and a disc, sometimes the disc only has a number on it and sometimes thats all you get is the disc with a number on it. Basically just make your way to Sham Shui Po and find golden arcade and you'll be in heaven. The controllers do look very similar to the official konami ones, but they don't have konamis name on them. They are all controllers that you can get at lik-sang. I got one of my guitars and the beatmania controller from them, I got the drumset from a different place cause it was cheaper (20 instead of 40) and I got the other guitar from where I got the drumset cause it was easy to buy them at the same time.
