Best gaming rewards credit card ?

So I was looking for a new credit card that would offer any kind of good rewards useful towards gaming.

I pay my bills off at the end of every month so im not concerned about APR and all that.

I was looking at the amazon.com card but it kinda sucks, spend 2500 bucks and get a 25$ gift card. (or spend like 833 @ amazon.com)

Is there anything good out there for gamers or would I just be better off with some kinda cash back card ?

I have the Amazon card and I have no complaints. Keep in mind that points triple for your first 90 days. I've had the card for maybe 6 months and have gotten maybe 5-6 gift cards (just guesstimating). I tend to put a lot of big ticket stuff on my card though.

In addition, it's a fine credit card generally, I've had no complaints other than that they're customer service will jerk you around if they can. So will any CC company.

Might there be better rewards programs for gamers? Yeah. I definitely think the Amazon card is worth it though, there aren't too many you're going to earn rewards much faster.

I'd like to see the details, since I always like to have more than one CC.

That said, if the benefits are better you'd have to think some of that would be offset by having to spend your rewards at BB prices rather than Amazon prices.

Best buy one sounds kind of weak. Its like you need to spend your money at best buy in order to get any benefits.

Great if I need to buy a plasma TV or something but outside of that
 
Amazon is slightly better than that. I'm going from memory but I think it's:

1 for each $1 on all purchases
2 for each $1 on purchases at certain outlets (dining, gas, things like that.. there's a pretty good list)
3 for each $1 spent on Amazon.

Tripled for the first 90 days.

I think you might need to reconsider what you expect from a rewards program. Credit Card companies talk up their rewards because that's often what gets people to get the card, but like all banks they're not really in the free money business. I'd consider this to be around industry standard, especially for cards which aren't "triple platinum, ultra gold, diamond" whatever.

That said, if you find something better I'd like to hear about it.
 
If you own a PS3, or would like to own one, the Sony card might be the best overall choice.

If not, either Best Buy or Amazon would probably be the way to go. Which one you choose would depend on where you think you'll spend the most money.
 
Cash Back will usually yield the lowest payout and have VERY specific zones of payout (starts low, gets higher, then caps out or drops down after a certain $ spent). If they can get you to use your reward on something more specific or company-owned, they tend to be more generous.

1% of general purchases is usually the standard on rewards, so find a card that will give you the most bonuses at places you spend at the most.

It all depends on what you'll be using it for, but in general: Gas stations, drugstores, and dining is a fairly common everyday bonus multiplier that will yield much better than one specific place. Also, having a card with gift card redemption is almost as good as cash, especially the ones that let you redeem for a prepaid Visa gift card...
 
Amazon card is the way to go for everyday purchases.

Get a Best Buy card if your going to buy a big ticket item there.

I bought a laptop cpu at best buy for $800 and opened a credit card to buy it and I got $60 gift cert back.
 
Sony card for us. I have soo many points its not funny. Probably grab a PS4 on release (shipping owuld suck here in regards to timeing) for free.

Its backed by chase so, so far i have not had that many issues.
 
I have the amazon .com visa and I got a letter a couple days ago telling me they are transitioning from only amazon.com $25 rewards per 2500 points to an amazon.com visa signature card that has many more options for account points redemption. i/e. other retail gift cards, travel etc.. The switch is coming mid October.

Thanks for the heads up, that's great news. Will you have to apply for the change or will it happen automatically for all cardholders?
 
Hmm I have a Sonycard right now and honestly the Amazon reward points system is more generous than the Sonycard even though they're both from Chase. For the sonycard you only get 1 point on all purchases, and 5 points at Sonystyle stores and 3 points for purchashing Sony product, and to be eligible for 3 points you gotta do some purchase confirmation form and send in receipt and stuff (alot of stuffs so I didn't bother with it when i buy my PS3). Though with SonyCard there are ways to get free points oscasionally, and sometime they offer 5000 points for opening a card. If you read the sonyreward thread you can find ways to get around 4000-5000 extra points by registering products I think. But I mainly use my credit card for gas and Sonycard is only giving me 1point for every $1 while amazon is giving 2points for every $1. I'm going to sign up for a amazon card to use for gas lol.
 
I would look into the Citi Forward card and/or Schwab.

Citi Forward earns 5 points per $1 for books including Amazon (anything but marketplace), fast food, movie theaters, and music while 1pt/1$ everywhere else and uses Thank You Points that can be redeemed for cash or giftcards. Gift cards are the best value but cash works out to about 3% back if you only use the 5 point categories.

Schwab is a flat 2% cash back every month into a brokerage account with them which is free when you link to the credit card. You can transfer the rewards out around 5-10 days after your payment posts.
 
Personally, I would avoid Amazon's card only because its run by Chase. I'm sure alot of people have never had major issues, but myself, as well as many of my friends, all have had experience with Chase and have seen how shady they operate.

Take that for whats its worth, not trying to pick a fight with those who like Chase, I just recommend from my (and other's) experience thats its for the best just to avoid them.

EDIT: Oh, and since Schwab was mentioned, I must say that I have nothing but good things to say about them.

EDIT 2: And just to put it in perspective, BB Rewards Zone Cashback is 2%, Their Credit Card yields 4%, and Amazon's seems to be 1%. So ya, not really very beneficial, as you can just work a couple of extra hours and get that.
 
I'm happy with my Amazon and Sony cards. It's almost inconsequential, but you can technically earn reward points without spending any money via Sony. It's slow as all hell, but it's like 20-30 cents worth a day for about a minute of "effort" if you could call it that. And every month you get bonus points for things, etc.

It just makes you feel like you're increasing the rate, even though you're not increasing it very much at all.

And I spend about 80% of my money on Amazon.com.

Have you tried buying visa gift cards off amazon? I'm hoping they also get 5x the points and use the cards for gas
