Best Lie/Buy Customer Service Review Surveys

How much credit are the surveys given that they email you the day after you are on the phone with Best Lie customer (lack of) service?

I rated the lady I talked to with mostly 1/10 and 1/7s and made the comment of "you should either fire her or teach her not to lie"

Will I receive a followup or anything?

damn, that's harsh. It's a shame that her manager probably instructs her to embellish the truth to customers, but that she'll probably get fired for doing just that. Rather than the company making an effort to change, they'll find someone who can play the game better.

I try to never take anything a CSR does personally...they've got shitty, shitty jobs that force them to be dicks.

This wasn't an in store one, it was a phone one. (just to be clear)

Anyways, I call them Best Lie now due to being lied to by managers at two different stores, and by the phone CSR now.

If you're throwing around the "F" word in this freakin' economy, you'd better have an amazing reason for threatening someone's livelihood like that. I'd like to hear your story because I'm already judging you pretty harshly.

At the retail stores I have been lied to about penny guides being a "mistake in the system" and an "incorrect price."

The CSM lied to me about multiple things including that the guides were never a penny on the website, that they were accidentally priced that, and that the guides were going to stay on the shelves and the prices fixed.

Wow, she SHOULD be fired!

While we're playing with names, I'm gonna call you "dabumhurs"from now on since you're so butthurt over this.

CSRs aren't CAGs, they don't know what the fuck penny guides are or how that system works. It's basically a loophole in the system that customers have a tiny window to take advantage of. Not sure why they don't fix it, but there's a reason why people get turned down from buying them all the time.

I sure hope you put a bunch of stuff about how this CSR should have known about penny guides so the people reviewing them can have a laugh and write you off as a typical dense, and possibly crazy, customer that takes EVERYTHING personally.

What the hell is wrong with you, wanting to get someone fired from their job just because you couldn't take advantage of loophole.

Believe it or not, not everyone who works in retail gets to learn the penny item system... most of the time, the items are gone before that happens. It's entirely possible that the people you ran into didn't know, or that the store's policy on penny items is 'charge full price'. Where I work, the policy for penny goods has jumped around from 'sell it' to 'mark it back up to full price' to 'take it away' before finally settling on the current ideal situation... if you bring it to the counter, it's free, but no going back for more once we know (they have to be removed at that point.)

And yes, sometimes it is just a mistake! We got in a shipment once of a formely discontinued item that was still ringing a penny when it arrived. I stuck it in a box in the back for a few days- it went back to full price.

Quit being a jerk- it's awful to say someone should be fired becuase you can't get free game guides (and don't tell me 'it's the principle', that's just BS and we all know it.)

Hopefully you included a link to this thread in your response so they can understand that this complaint is coming from someone who thinks "Best Lie" is the most cleverest thing ever.

Is something so petty really worth trying to ruin someone's job? Not every single person you talk to is going to know every exact policy about every item; expecting that is just unreasonable. Blame management for not having enough training if you really need someone to blame, but certainly not the employee. Many employers prefer to have someone give out an answer that sounds right, instead of second-guessing themselves if they're not positive on it. It's just how it goes.

I hope you're happy with yourself, but apparently you are if you're making a post here about it.

LOL.....penny guides. Seriously? You are pissed and want someone to get fired because you can't get something for basically free?

For something like that, they probably won't take your side. Publishers don't like their guides being sold for a penny and BBY would be held liable if they sold you one (if the publisher found out). So they're probably going to anything to avoid selling them to you. Obviously, it was their mistake for leaving them out but that's not going to matter.

And if you're thinking of complaining to the publisher about this guide, you might wanna reconsider as they would probably warn BBY about slacking off and it would further reduce your chances of getting penny guides in the future.

Having worked in customer service before I can attest to how shittastic these jobs are.

I worked for ICS/Thompson Education Direct/whatever the fuck bullshit name they're going by now and let me tell you I was more or less an overglorified telemarketer. People would see the commercials with Sally Struthers or whoever at whatever time and they would call in wanting more information on X or Y program or to sign up for said program.

However it was my job to convince them that I could let them know about it over the phone and to try to sign them up for whichever program they only wanted info on.

I couldn't even tell you all of the misdirected customer service calls I fielded from people who went through these bs programs and found out NO ONE would take their 'degree/diploma' for whatever job they were applying for.

Personally, I say to give the CSR's a break since it's not their fault they have to feed people the bs. At least they have a job in this shit economy.

Wait. This is over penny guides? And I wasn't the one to create the thread whining about how they should give them to me if that's what they ring up? Wow.

Seriously dabamus, we don't need any further attenton being paid to pennied guides and corporate deciding to further drop the hammer on these things. The way it is now I can only find 1-2 per drop and sometimes I don't even find that many. I don't know if I have competition locally for them or they are just getting better at pulling them or what, but the last 3-4 drops I've been lucky to get any.

Please don't make a mountain out of a mole hill and get penny guides completely and totally shut down just because you couldn't get any. I've had my moment(s) where I've argued over them giving me them but in the end is getting something for a penny for just yourself at the risk of blocking EVERYONE from here on out from getting ANY of them actually worth it?

Not to me it's not, which is why I don't get up in a nerd rage over them denying me them anymore. Besides which the local shop gets them in from time to time and sells me ones I need for $1 each. It may not be a penny, but it's better than risking this good deal for everyone else by being a lil bitch about it by writing to the company.

My girlfriend is a manager at Best Buy and we frequently get guides for "free".

The reason it happens(if anyone cares to know that doesnt know) is because the guides are at end of life and are supposed to be sent back to the manufacturer.

The Guides are marked down to a cent in the system, new product is put out on Thursdays(truck day for her store at least) so sometimes customers(or employees) can get away with it if they happen to find them on the shelves before the stock people get to them(Best Buy doesnt wanna deal with law suits I assume).

It happens on other media too(CDs, Blus, ect), but we've only gotten away with it on rare occasions(3:10 to Yuma!!!!).
