Best music album...ever :o
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
Lawrence Arms - Greatest Story Ever Told
Dr. Dre - The Chronic
U2 - The Joshua Tree
A.F.I - SOS
Alkaline Trio - Maybe I'll Catch Fire
Mike Park - For The Love of Music
Operation Ivy
Beastie Boys - PB
While the Dr. Dre had me worried, it's still good to see other fans of the AT out there. I also hear Lawrence Arms mentioned a lot in the vicinity of AT...maybe I should look into this.

I like Alkaline Trio as well. Lawrence Arms is good, but I like AT much more. Then again, I only have one album by LA.

I am just floored that someone out there thinks the Sum 41's "Chuck" is the greatest album of all time. I know music is personal and your opinion is all that matters but I'm still in shock.

I guess it's like how I know that ZZ Top has been making records for over 25 years but I don't know a single person who owns one or would consider them to be the best band ever but those people have to be out there, right?

I have always thought that just about every band has someone who thinks they are the best. I guess Sum 41 has found it's one person. As far as ZZ Top goes, I'm still searching for him (or her....could it possibly be a her? Maybe that's why it's taken so long....). :D

I'm going to break it down into genres:

Best album overall — Jeff Buckley, Grace
Rap — Tupac, All Eyes on Me
Rock — Zeppelin, Zoso
Pop — Michael Jackson, Thriller

Maybe not the best, but Grace is a superb album. Definetely up there for me. Last Goodbye, Lover You Should've Come Over, and Grace are some of the best songs ever recorded. There's a part in Last Goodbye that gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it even after literally hundreds of listens.

Lawrence Arms is by far my favorite band (i'm really into the chicago music scene from Asian Man records. I'd go up to chicago atleast 3 times a month to see their shows.) I like LA a lot better than Alk3... i think just overall they are better in every aspect. Alk3 is really good when Matt Skiba is doing the singing but when Dan sings it loses something for me.

If you're into Alk3 you should check out: The Broadways, Slapstick, Honor System, and Baxter.

What Lawrence Arms album do you have?

LA's asian man stuff is fantastic but when they signed to Fat Wreck they really matured into a sound. Also check out the two splits LA has one with the Chinkees and the other with Shady View Terrece. Both are fantastic are really cheap. Also i highly recommend the greatest story ever told, it will blow you away.

Slapstick had Brendan from LA in the band, they were more punk/ska and only had one album before they broke up.

I'll look into that stuff. Thanks! I used to be real knowledgeable on alot of the Chicago bands when I lived here before (grew up just outside Chicago), but when I moved to Minneapolis I kinda lost touch and now that I'm back, having a little guy doesn't really allow me the time I used to have to go see shows. I used to see a Metro show almost every week (used to love those late shows during the weekend) and would sometimes go into the City three+ times a week to see a show. Good times.

Right on bro, i havent been toi a show in quite awhile. I always used to go to the metro and fireside quite a bit in high school and alittle bit in college but Alk3 got big enough were they were touring with Blink 182 and the Warped Tour so i wasnt able to see them as much. But its cool to see someone into similar music, me and you have pretty similar taste just like yesterday when we were talking about GBV.

You've gotta hear the digitally remastered Legacy Edition. It's pricy, 27.99 at Best Buy, but definitly worth the money for the bonus tracks on the second disc and DVD that's included.

Wow, 0/4. I take it those are four balls and not strikes.

yeah but they are all excellent albums I just don't know about giving anything the label of "best ever" - my tastes change with my mood....

Yeah, I've got that. ;) I haven't watched the DVD yet though. I am thinking about getting the Live at Sin'e Legacy Edition as well.

I have the Sin-é Legacy Edition as well, and it's more than worth the purchase price. There's a lot of Jeff's personality that comes out through those live recordings you can't get anywhere else. He had a very witty sense of humor, and you could safely say he was a likeable music dork. I listen to that album constantly in my car driving to classes 30 miles away. The DVD with that set isn't as great as it should be. There are only a few live performances, and the clippings of his studio work can be found on his live DVD, which is kind of hard to find in stores. Next up for me are the Grace EP's. I actually found them at Barnes & Noble here in Wichita, but 35 bucks is expensive so I'll have to wait for another mileage check from work.
One of my personal favorites:

S.O.D. (Stormtroopers of Death) - Speak English or DIE - made in 84 - way ahead of its time IMHO.
I love that album

Here are some of my faves:

Black Sabbath - Paranoid
Dire Straits - Brothers In Arms
Elvis Costello And The Attractions - Punch The Clock
Emerson Lake And Palmer - Brain Salad Surgery
Frank Zappa - Joe's Garage
Genesis - Abacab
Iron Maiden - Powerslave
Jethro Tull - Thick As A Brick
Moody Blues - Days Of Future Passed
Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime
Rush - Moving Pictures
Talking Heads - Speaking In Tongues
Thomas Dolby - The Golden Age Of Wireless
Devildriver - Devildriver

Killswitch Engage - The End of Heartache

Second'd.

I forgot to add the Silent Hill 2 OST to my list. Best soundtrack ever.

*sigh*

The Clash - London Calling
Explosions in the Sky - The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place
The Smiths - Louder Than Bombs
The Smiths - The Queen is Dead
The Smiths - Strangeways, Here We Come
Massive Attack - Mezzanine (a masterpiece of trip hop)
Radiohead - OK Computer
Moby - Play
King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King
Micheal Andrews - Donnie Darko OST
The Postal Service - Give Up (this one's iffy, but what the hell)

Some of your taste in music makes me cry. If one more person lists Sum 41 as anything other than the worst band ever spawned, there will be death.

Yes, the GS soundtrack is excellent. I would buy it, but my friend burned me a copy, so yeah. Good stuff. I have GS on DVD, as well. God what a good movie. I love the Simon and Garfunkel track, The Only Living Boy In New York.

Best music album ever
Sum 41 - Chuck

You can't beat hard rock

Up there with them is
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
Jimi Hendrix Experience - Are You Experienced?

Sum 41 has the best album ever? What the fucking hell is wrong with you? I can't believe that you admitted to ranking that corporate piss pop over Pink Floyd and Jimi Hendrix. Have you even seen the video to Pieces? It's like look I'm an Emo kid, I feel so shunned and disrespected by the world. How the hell can you call shit like that hard rock? It's about as hard Hue Hefner when his Viagra goes missing for a week. The saddest part is that in 6 months you will have found a new favorite album and thanks to idiots like you the radio stations will be blasting their shitty songs 24/7 until your 5 second attention span finds some other corporately crapped load to gobble up.

I mentioned New Order's 'Brotherhood' earlier. I'd also like to add:
The Cure - Disintegration
Jane's Addiction - Nothing's Shocking
Depeche Mode - Violator
the Pixies - Doolittle
Public Enemy - It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back
New Order - Technique
New Order - Power, Corruption & Lies
Prince - Sign 'O' the Times
Radiohead - The Bends
Peter Gabriel - Security
Cocteau Twins - Blue Bell Knoll
Coldplay - A Rush of Blood to the Head
Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures, Closer
Beastie Boys - Paul's Boutique
