Best price for all (or most of) the seasons of The X-Files?

CAGiversary!
Uhhh...I guess basically the topic title. Been watching some of my old taped episodes and the show is still just awesome but these box sets are too expensive. Maybe their is something like a combo like BB had for the Friends series?

Probably not likely since stores usually run those combo deals when a new season comes out. I believe they have released all of the X-Files seasons already. I picked up Season 1 for $34.99 when Amazon had it on sale a few months ago and am waiting for any of the other seasons to drop as well. I think $40-$50 would be a reasonable price to pay for the other seasons as they have been out for a while now and I don't think they're hot sellers at their current prices.

I did the same thing Josef did: grabbed the first season at Amazon when they had it for $35. The others haven't come anywhere close to that price, though, so now I'm just biding my time 'til deepdiscountdvd has their next 20% off sale.

IIRC, there's a dealer at my local Flea Market (Allstate Arena parking lot out in Rosemont, IL) during the summer who sells DVDs at crazy prices and gives pretty good deals. I wanna say he was selling X-Files seasons for no more than $40-50 each.....b/c they were always sold out by the time I got there!

Is there something special about the X-Files season DVD's that justifies the $100 price tag? I'm a huge fan of the X-Files but it seems absurd that they're trying to sell it for almost triple what other tv series DVDs go for.

I have seasons 1-7 (waiting on a deal for 8 & 9), and there is nothing special about the sets (other than it being a great show) to justify the $100 price tag. It was just one of the earliest TV DVD sets and Fox felt they could get that much for them. Of course, these days that price seems insane when you consider what other TV season sets go for (other than Star Trek, that is).

What you said.

I agree with everyone that the X Files and Star Trek DVDs are too much. I want to get all of the X Files and Star Trek seasons, but that would cost me more then $3000.
It was smart of Amazon to drop the price on Season One of the X Files for a little while. I bet they got a lot of people hooked, which made them buy the rest of the series at full price.

Here's a little something I found to be "special" about the first season:

Ah! My eyes!

(is confused of above poster's post)

Anyways, es these are hella expensive. I bought like half of the seasons used. Thats the best way of doing it. of course one of the discs of my season 4 like skips on like 2 episodes.....but oh well. I'm still happy to have them all.

Lets see....bought Season 1 new for like $75.00 I beleive at Best Buy, after all the season came out. Bought Seasons 6 for like $85.00 new cause I found it at the store I work at and got a 10% discount. :)

Than got seasons 7, 8, and 9 for like $95 to $105 a piece. There good X-Mas presents. heh

Bought season 2 and 3 used for like $70 a piece at FYE. i know its pretty costly. This was before I realized EB had some used to.

Than got seasons 4 and 5 for like $40 used each at EB. This was after my discount for being a Edge member.

So I've spent about $700 for all 9 seasons.

Sadly I've gotten all 7 seasons of Buffy and all 5 seasons of Angel for like half that price.
