Best racing wheel for 360?
Official MS one is pretty decent. Never tried the Madcatz.
The MS one is decent but doesn't provide that 900 degree turning radius I desire. Best wheel hands down is the G27 but unfortunately it's not compatible with the Xbox 360. Best option as it stands right now is the Official MS one. You can find one pretty cheap nowadays.

The best wheels for the 360 are the ones by Fanatec. In fact many argue that they are better than the G25/G27s as well. The clubsport pedals certainly are the best available at their price point.

The cheapest one I've found is $549. Are we thinking of the same wheel?

Wow really. I was seeing them clearanced a few months back around here for $50. I remember when they cost $100. I didn't know they skyrocketed in price.

A quick look on amazon shows the MS wheel listed for $130, so no I think you are thinking of different wheels. Who would pay $550 for the MS wheel when other wheels in that price range are so vastly superior?

P.S. Why is the Logitech G27 listed for $999? Did they stop making it or something? The new thrustmaster wheel is like half that, retail price.

OP, look at fanatec's products. I know they released a lower end version of their wheels recently which might be more fitting for your budget. Basically they took their high end wheel, swapped the leather rim for a plastic one, swapped the motor for a weaker one, and changed the belt drive mechanism to a geared one (like the Logitechs have). Only issue is that the budget wheel might not be 360 compatible I dont remember. Seriously consider buying piecemeal and getting the clubsport pedals- they add as much to the driving as the wheel does- particularly with the load cell brake. They're easily a $400-500 pedal set for $200 or whatever. A great price for a quality product.

A pretty decent site for reviews is insidesimracing.tv- they have shown/previewed/reviewed a fair amount of racing hardware on their video podcast.

The MS wheel has been discontinued but somehow my local best buy and toys r us still had a couple sitting around. I'm not gonna lie about a clearance item.

Maybe you should think a little harder. When did I say the wheel was not discontinued or not on clearance? All I said was that you can find that wheel for $130 on amazon and that I did not see why/where it was being offered at $550.

JCJT- fanatec's first 360 compatible wheel was the turbo s model, which they only produced 10,000 of. That wheel has since been sold out, but they had a lot of unexpected demand for more 360 wheels, so they released a second version of the wheel called the GT2. I don't believe there is a limit on the production run this time.
