The biggest differnce for me between the original PS1 version and the GCN remake is the atmosphere. The original did a decent job of creating spooky effects, but the remake does a much better job than I thought imaginable.
RE 0 was pretty good, but I found myself laughing at most of the creatures rather than being freaked out by them (ie. those absurd monkeys).
Didn't get REmake because I figured it would be exactly like the PS version with enhanced graphics, but based on what I've read in this post I may have to reconsider.
Definitely reconsider. I think its even better if you played the first one. They play with your expectations with the changes. And the crimson zombies are freaky as hell.
I like almost all the RE's about the same. That's basically why I got a GC. For REmake, 0, and of course Resident Evil 4. The only one I don't like is RE 3. I only finished that game cuz of the Resident Evil license and story.
Yes, toss in my vote for #1 RE game as REmake on GC. Close second, Zero, also on GC.
REmake will have you so immersed that it's actually freaky in many, many parts of the game; if not entirely. Haunted house experience true to the max! (recommend = play at night, with all the lights out, and with headphones.) You will grow paranoid.
I'm okay now, I play SuperMario Sunshine. no...j/k!
I guess there's supposed to be an extended/true ending to Eternal Darkness if you beat it w/all 3 alignments.
As for the REmake, I ing loved it. Especially the final battle. Holy crap. If you've played the original and think your rocket launcher is a sure thing, watch out.
