So, it's 2007, which means "90's Music" is kinda like oldies for my generation (I'm 22). I've been watching the 90's channel of my digital cables music channels, and every once in a while, they'll play a song I haven't heard since, well, the 90's. So, this is a list of all those great 90's songs, regardless if they were 1 hit wonders or not. I'll start with 1

Primitive Radio Gods - Standing outside a broken phone booth with money in my hand

Nine Inch Nails, "Closer"

Once NIN hit with "Closer" the record labels scrambled to sign as many "industrial-lite" bands they could dig up...here's four of my faves:

Stabbing Westward, "Save Yourself"
Gravity Kills, "Guilty"
God Lives Underwater, "From Your Mouth"
Prick, "Animal"

That Primitive Radio Gods track is excellent, btw...too bad the rest of their CD was a fucking trainwreck.

Here are some of my favorites from the 90's. Ok they might not be one hit wonders but who the fuck care, they are all great songs.

Early and mid-90s music was so much better than 95-99% of the shit going on today. How did that happen?

Blind Melon - Soul One:

Because everything was allowed it's fair space on the radio and wasn't dominated by one particular genre like it is now. There was way too much good music then that I liked, but here's some.

Soul Asylum - Misery

The 90's were a pretty mellow time for me, but the music was pretty great and holds up well I think. :) Sorry for the number of videos, couldn't help it.

Some personal favorites:

Guitar Wolf - Jet Generation
H2O - Guilty By Association
Mindless Self Indulgence - Tornado
Anything off Where You Been? by Dinosaur Jr
Anything off No Gods, No Managers by Choking Victim
Swans - Failure
My Bloody Valentine - Only Shallow

Amazing how I hated a lot of 90s music during the 90s, but I actually enjoy listening to it now.

Must be because I can't stand the shit on the radio.

For me personally, The Pixies pwned the 90's. ANYTHING by them is in the running for best song of the 90's. (Edit: Unless it was released in the late 80's, like the video I originally had in this spot, "Here Comes Your Man", which I just realized is from 1989. I'll replace it with "Dig for Fire", from 1990 #-o )

Archers of Loaf- Web in Front (one of the worst videos ever made, but a great song)

They Might Be Giants- Birdhouse in your Soul

Violent Femmes- American Music (unfortunately, this clip has a sort of video watermark on it)

Garbage- I think I'm paranoid

The Cure- Pictures of You (the album was released in 1989, but I believe this song wasn't released as a single until 1990, so it sneaks under the wire)

Click the M button on the reply toolbar for tags, and just paste the Youtube video address between the tags.

Nice pick with Poe above.Britpop ruled the 90s.Pulp's "Common People" was probably the most accessible, and most universal.
Chumbawumba - "Tubthumping"

*video*
My first exact thought. I think it was the first ever album I bought when I was about 7 or 8 years old. It was on cassete.
Thread over.
Weak; try again

Tonight, Tonight - The Smashing Pumpkins

Nada Surf - Popular

Candlebox - Far Behind

Pharcyde - Can't Keep Runnin' Away
Pete Rock & CL Smooth - T.R.O.Y.
2 Pac - Hit 'Em Up, Hail Mary, No More Tears
Biggie - Juicy, Big Poppa, Hypnotize

There are a lot of other hip hop songs that I could name, because the 90s were the peak, so far of hip hop, IMO.

But a song somewhat out of my box, that I actually didn't really listen to until the 2000's is Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit.
