Best Xbox 360 premium or elite deal? TRU $50 card deal still active?

CAGiversary!
Hey guys, Ive been holding off on picking up a 360 for ages, (was waiting for a price drop but now I doubt that will happen till sometime around or after Xmas if at all,) but finally decided it is time. All my concoles (except N64) have broken on me, and I'm fiending.

So anyhow, when i found this site I felt like I had come home. Im a cheap ass all around, so you know I'm trying to find a deal...but Ive decieded it's time to make a move.

So if anyone knows of any deals better than the TRU $50 card, or if thats gone (in which case I will have to wait for some kind of deal :D ) let me know...Im still pissed that the elite came out instead of the price drop...

Thanks guys!:applause:

Don't, wait until they include the 65nm chips (around October), which HOPEFULLY will keep them from breaking constantly. I want one badly myself, but I'm waiting until their 30-50% failure (not official, but god damn it is high) drops to around 1-2%.

It's not worth it to buy a $450 console that will break repeatedly after a few months of CASUAL play, and then shell out $140 per repair, only to have it come back and break again.

Do some research on it, there's far too many "horror stories" for this to be an isolated issue like Microsoft is trying to play off. It'll save you a LOT of money and stress later down the road.

However, if you truly insist on buying one now, buy it from Costco (if you are a member or can find one), they offer a standard 2 year warranty on all electronics for being a member. You'll lose your data each time it breaks, but you'll get a brand new 360 every time, as opposed to the refurbished units (i.e. someone else's, not yours) that Microsoft repair will ship you when yours breaks, and assuming it wont be broken by the time it reaches your home.

Thanks for the input I might just do that...either Costco (used to have a membership) or wait...I went through the refurb game with my original xbox (I had a launch unit that went 3 years fine, failed, and turned out to be a recalled serial #, so I got free service on it, but the damn refurb they sent me kept breaking & I got sick of paying shiping just to have the damn thing break a week or two later.)

I don't think that $50 giftcard deal from TRU is still in effect. I'm pretty sure that was just for last week. From time to time, BB or CC will have similar deals, either a giftcard or a free second wireless controller (that normally costs $50)

I'm in the same boat- I've been waiting on a price drop since the 360 launched, and my patience is running out, too. I agree with HotShotX, though- after waiting this long, it might be worth waiting a few more months if the new chips can cut down on the failure rate of the system.

One other option if you just can't wait is the system that BasketCase1080 is selling. http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=142813
