Well, I'm thinking about getting a 360 (well, I want to anyhow) and I just want to know which games I should get for the 360. I don't catch up with any of the news at all for the 360 so yeah.. Anyway, obvious picks for me that picked up mainstream popularity would be:

Assassins Creed
COD4
Halo3
GoW

Are there any other 360 games I should get that are decent? Also, is it possible to play like multiplayer online? For example,

2 Controllers Online on XboxLive on Halo3.

lol, well i guess you can get it for cheap somewhere, but the game came out a year ago, and most people have switched over to play halo or cod on live. it was a good game though

Halo 3, Call Of Duty 4, and Team Fortress happened.

GOW is still an amazing game. It has great graphics and an amazing story mode. If you have a friend to play with you can do coop over live or splitscreen, and that is just incredibly fun. I beat the game on the hardest difficulty and still go back to play campaign once in awhile. The only campaign better is COD4, but GOW is much longer. As for multiplayer, I didn't really get into it much but a lot of people really loved it. You may have a hard time picking it up because the people that play I'm sure are really good by now. Anyways, it is definatly worth the money ($40 or less) just for campaign, and you can have COD4 and HALO3 satisfy your multiplayer needs.

Other games I would highly recommend are Bioshock (game of the year) and Orange Box (bang for your buck).

Fun games in no particular order:

Gears of War
Lost Planet
Dead Rising
Saints Row
Ace Combat 6
Halo 3
Assassin's Creed
Mass Effect
Call of Duty 4
Call of Duty 3
Call of Duty 2
Guitar Hero II
Guitar Hero III
Rock Band
Forza 2
Dirt
Crackdown
Lego Star Wars II
Viva Pinata
Viva Pinata Party Animals
Eternal Sonata
Blue Dragon
Kane & Lynch: Dead Men
Burnout Revenge
Condemned
The Orange Box
Prey
Battlefield
Bioshock
Rainbow Six: Vegas
Splinter Cell: Double Agent
GRAW
GRAW2

Buy BIoshock... one of the best games I have every played. Also, definitely get Halo 3 and CoD 4, CoD 2 is fun and cheap, I've heard great things about Crackdown if you like GTA style action.

For what it's worth, I really enjoyed the 7 hours it took to go through Lost Planet. I only saw one other person mention it, so I figured I'd toss that out there. I'm in the middle of BioShock, and I can already say that it's definitely a game that every 360 owner should try at least once.

On a completely unrelated note, just because the first reply or so seem to indicate it... why is it that someone should 'forget' about Gears of War because new multiplayer games came out? The OP didn't say anything about wanting stuff to only play online, so I fail to see why that's relevant. It's the one thing that bothers me about this generation... for a lot of people, once a game isn't the hot new thing on Live, it's forgotten. So, we're saying that Gears of War, sans multiplayer, isn't still an amazing game? That it's not worth the money now that the only thing to do with it is to, gasp, play the campaign... you know, the main part of the game?

If so, that's sort of a sad statement about the industry, and the mindset of a lot of consumers/gamers. Online multiplayer is a nice addition to the gaming landscape, but let's never forget that it should almost always be secondary to the main expierience of the game, or at least that's the way I see it.

Like I said, random little sidenote, so just pay attention to the top part of my post. ;)

Gears of War
COD4
The Orange Box
Bioshock
Space Giraffe (XBLA)
Rainbow Six: Vegas
Uno (XBLA)
Saint's Row (if you're a fan of GTA-esque games)

Gears of War is still awesome. I put it in for the first time in months a few weeks ago, and there were still plenty of people online, and I had a blast playing online with my bro as a guest. Pick it up, just make sure to pick it up on the super cheap (~$30, at the most).

I recommend renting BioShock, as I doubt you'll want to play it more than much... it's not really worth the extra money just to own it.

Orange Box is an absolute must buy.

I think you'd love Call of Duty 4.

And I also highly recommend Dead Rising if you can find it for ~$20. It's definitely one of my top 3 XBX360 titles.

Rainbow Six: Vegas can also be had on the cheap, and it's well worth it. Though the sequel is coming out soon, so be wary, as usually when sequels come out the community for the original dies abruptly.

I would highly suggest renting Assassin's Creed, unless you get it on sale. I'm not even sure I want to take the dive on that one for $40. I've just heard too much mixed reviews about it.

i second the renting of bioshock. Game of the year, but not very replayable. Oblivion is definitely worth a purchase if you haven't played it before.

Gears of War
Bioshock
Condemned
Dead Rising
Call of Duty 4
Oblivion
Orange Box

All of these are must haves.

:whistle2:s

There's always a ton of people playing GoW online. I play it all the time. Sure, there aren't quite as many people playing it as before, but it's by no means as good as done.

Lot's of great games, I got my 360 on 11/5 and I LOVE it. Here's my list:

Call of Duty 4
Assassin's Creed
Lost Odyssey (2/18/08)
Bioshock

There's just too many to list.
