Bestbuy Reward Zone 10,000 Bonus Points (Double Dip Deal)

A $5 dollar reward zone certificate is 15,000 points now, and your total usually has to be over $25 before taxes for it to work, since the Reward Zone dosen't recognize tax.

Sounds fiendish .. I like it. How are you gonna get them to pm Bard's Tale w/ EB? Do you have a flier or something. I'm just curious cause I think you're plan sounds pretty solid .. although I might go for Kirby instead and use my GGC.

Unless you are buying a high dollar item, Best Buy's Reward Zone is pretty much useless. It takes way to many points just to get $5.
No way Best Buy would match EB. Not mine at least.
I price matched Custom Robo at best buy some time ago when EB had it for $10 new. The biggest problem I had was too convince the the person at the front desk that not all of their deals are on used games.

Or unless you buy a ton of smaller ticket items. ;)

Bingo. I've had it for a little less than a year, and quite frankly, its kind of depressing how many certificates I've gotten. I never realized how much of my money I throw at BB every year

But its certainly a good deal, especially if you are planning on buying even one high ticket item (at the time, I think my iPod netted me $15 or $20 in certificates).

I recieved about $60 worth of gift certificates when my roomie and I bought a HDTV, and now I too notice that I get a lot of gift certificates (I buy too many new games there, thats why I joined up here).

I have never had a problem price matching at BB as long as you have a printed ad. They won't match online pricing. I have pricematched CC, Target, Sears and Gamestop ads. I don't see why they wouldn't for EB.

just buy RE:Outbreak 2... use a $5 PSP/PS2 coupon. I think i have an old $5 reward zone certificate laying around somewhere.... so it'd be like $10... maybe get Bard's Tale like you said.

Not really I had one and got about $100 in $5 off coupons. The best thing to do is go half with a friend and just tell the cashier you lost your card. Then they ask for the phone number and just give them the phone number you signed up with and they can punch up the card. So you still get your rewards and just split the coupons in half with a friend. I get this one and you get the next one type of deal.

I got an e-mail stating DOUBLE REWARD ZONE POINTS on any purchase....this would be better if you plan on spending MORE than $100.

I might pick up a PSP game or something though

Here's the thread for the double RZ points: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1143194#post1143194

The coupon's only good for one item though, so choose wisely. :D

The RZ program works out pretty well for me since I usually get most of my electronics purchases from Best Buy. If something's cheaper somewhere else, I can always PM. The one snag is that they limit you to $60 of RZ coupons a transaction (I had a recent windfall of coupons from a HDTV purchase). Not that big of a deal overall, but something to consider.

Also, can I use a $10 RZ coupon along with this 10,00 coupon on the SAME transaction?

Like if I buy a $25 item:
$25-$10(RZ) = $15 + 10,000 BONUS

Yes, the reward zone coupon is basacially the same as a gift card, or cash.

It's not considered a coupon, basacially.

Bard's Tale is an awful game. Stay away at all costs.

Dont knock it until you try it. Those DVD purchases can add up. Its basically like getting a 4% discount on every purchase. Not bad if you ask me.

Since when? Last year when i bought a computer there, i got $80 in rewards certificates back.

The break-even point's $300 a year.
The break-even point's $300 a year.
That is true, in general, but there are often bonus point items and events that can bring that amount down.

Can someone take that header from the coupon, that says to print out the coupon, and smack it on one of the $5 PS2/PSP coupons? Because I heard a lot of people being asked where did the coupon come from, and they will think it's from their own page :p

But it wasn't from their own web page. Let's not take an already somewhat questionable deal (printing our own ps2/psp coupons instead of using the photocopied ones that were originally given out in the store) and make it truly fraudulent.

actualy its like getting a 3.4 percent discount.

150 * .034 = 5.1

i am a little confused.
So how much does this Reward Zone 10,000 Bonus Points translate into real dollar value eventually?

Thanks for the info.....I didn't use my $10 RZ yet though. I bought a bag for my PSP though....Got my 10,000 bonus points. Maybe I'll use the double point coupon for some other small things I need.
I think he means $60 in RZ certificates to spend per transaction.
That's not true either. I bought a DS/w Mario three weeks ago with $140 in RZ certificates. I had to pay the final $10 +plus tax for a total of $10.66. They let you use RZ certificates until the balance left on your transaction is under $10.

argh, I wish I waited until this week to buy Killer 7, I used the GGC $5 off coupon but that would have netted me 10,000 points.

maybe i should finally pick up taiko drummaster

$3.33

But if you were going to buy something anyways, might as well get it with the promo.

I always tell my friends that unless they're buying an expensive electronics item, it isn't worth signing up/paying for membership. However all their little DVD and CD purchases sure help me earn points. Myself, I wind up buying there and PM-ing competitor's ads just because I'll earn points. It's a bit of a hassle, but it works out in my favor in a few dollars or cents savings and building up points.

or wait for the free memberships that have once in a while... that's how some CAG got in on the RZ membership a couple months ago.

Good Lord, you had $140 in RZ certs? I'm guessing big screen TV.

Really? I use it at my local BB for all my CD/game purchases - I get a $5 coupon about every month.

I do the same.

And that 10,000 bonus points coupon, from how i read it, is NOT for one item, its for ONE PURCHASE. That should make it easier to get the bonus points.
Unless you are buying a high dollar item, Best Buy's Reward Zone is pretty much useless. It takes way to many points just to get $5.
You gotta do what I do, I bought a membership and I share it with my sibs and we split the reward coupons!

Not quite true either. There's no limit to the amount of RZ certificates you can use, but the final price MINUS tax has to be more than certificate value you hold. So, if you want to buy a CD costing $4.99 + tax, you can't use a $5 certificate since that's more than the pre-taxed $4.99 (RZ certificates don't get taxed - which is ALSO nice). If the CD cost $5 + tax, your $5 certificate would work fine, and you'd just walk out with the CD and not paying a penny.

Hope that makes sense.

stupid question:

do purchases made with gift cards(or RZ certificates) count towards RZ points?

for example:

I buy something that costs $20 with a $10 gift card and $10 cash.(gift card can be interchanged with RZ certificates)

does all of the total go towards my RZ points or only the amount paid with cash? I would assume the former, but you can never be too sure with best buy. thanks.

actually, since the price of most things end in .99 and these are in X.00 denominations, the cashier told me he was going to charge me an extra cent so that it would be even. Maybe he was just a nice guy.

If I remember correctly, the RZ certificates are actually used in the computer as a coupon (as opposed to currency like a gift card). If this is actually the case, it's good in that you're only paying tax on the remaining balance of the purchase, but it's bad in that you're only getting RZ points on the remainder as well.

Can anybody confirm this?

I just called BB's toll free #... the CSR said the RZ certificate is basically treated like cash... and you can stack with another coupon. YES!

However - if you get a free item for being a RZ member (like the lithograph with The Incredibles), the value of the item gets deducted from your account.

But think of it this way - I'm doing the "Buy 2 Greatest Hits for $22" tommorrow... I'm saving $18 dollars total. My reward zone card paid for itself and then some off of one transaction, so all the coupons I get is pure profit.

Not to mention Best Buy renewed my card for free, as well.

Best Buy has started done Reward Zone membership deals on DVD's and games recently... it's working out pretty well.
Not to mention Best Buy renewed my card for free, as well.
How did you get BB to renew RZ for free?

I used that coupon a couple months ago to start a new membership but I wasn't aware of a free renewal deal.

Thanks to the OP for posting this... I only got the "Double your RZ Points" promo in the mail but this deal is much better since I only planned to spend a little. I got Sid Meier's Pirates for $28.99 (after PM Fry's and 10% difference) and got the 10,000 bonus RZ points. I should be getting another $5 RZ certificate in the mail soon! thx.

Just keep using it, and they should renew it for free. Mine was going to run out in August, and they sent me a letter about how I was a valued customer and they renewed my RZ membership for free (ends on 8-2-06 now), as well as giving me a coupon for double reward zone points.

I was completely shocked.. made a thread on it in the deal forum, and apparently they did it to some other people too.

I've had the card for a year and a month, and have gotten $110 dollars in RZ certificates.... these last couple of months they've gotten *very* generous about the points and promotions, as well.

Sabin, I saw you said in another post you had your reward zone certificates sent by mail... I'd change it to email, if you could, they come ALOT faster.
