VS.

D-Link #DI-524

I have been using the Belkin for a few years now with no issues that could be blamed on the router at least. But I also have a sealed D-Link DI-524 that I have been sitting on for a few years that has a big "X-Box Live Compatible" sticker on the front. I recently had some internet issues with my modem dropping its connection for a few seconds at random times of the day. But Verizon which is my provider said that it was a issue with my line and has said that they have fixed the issue. Ever since I have had the problem I have had my modem hardwired connected to my PC and have had my router disconnected. Its been connected now for four straight days with no issues so I want to try and hook up a wireless router back up. In my set-up I always have the PC hardwired to the router and than use the wireless connection for my X-Box, PS3, and Wii which are only about 12-15 feet away but because of the layout they cannot be wired.

I guess what I am trying to ask after I typed all of this is a dumb question to ask because the Belkin has been working fine for years at it makes sense just to hook that one back up. But I was just seeing if anybody had a better feel on the D-Link because of its so called "X-Box Live Compatible".

Thanks,

I have no experience with the Belkin, but I will say with confidence that the D-Link (that particular model) is a piece of junk. Stay away.

Been running the DI-524 for years without issues, in fact I tried to upgrade but the router did not perform as well. So I went back to the DI-524 again.

I'll second the DI-524. Used it for about 4 years and did plenty of gaming on Xbox Live and PSN without any issues at all. Very reliable from my experience.

I just recently upgraded to a newer N router, though. Only to get more speed. If all you need is 802.11g then the DI-524 will do you just fine.

I had the DI-524 for a while, and that big fat "Xbox Live Compatible!" sticker is a bit fat lie, even after trying different firmware versions. I would stay away from D-link if I were you.
