HI, Best Buy seems to have begun to mark down Anime that has been sitting on their shelves to significantly lower clearance prices. It hasn't been an isolated event as there have already been a few waves of new dvds going on clearance. As such I will keep track of the new mark downs here and continue to keep a running list. As far as the clearance items it seems that Best Buys do sometimes get them restocked as I have seen various clearance dvds out of stock one week and more copies the next. Below is what I can confirm i saw while at Best Buy and what has been reported with credit given to anyone who posted it first here. Online prices seem to be discounted on most of these items but less than brick and morter.

What's so bad about it? The show didn't look half bad from just the littl ebit that I read of it on the back of the box.

I don't think he was saying that it's bad, he's just suggesting that there are some elements of male/male love in it. I was wondering about it a little myself, so I looked at the reviews on animeondvd.com. They discuss it a little bit in this review, in the summary:

O.K. nevermind, I understand now what he meant. it's just that with the internet it's kind of hard to know what people mean.
 
i went to best buy today and can confirm that fruits basket 2 is 11.99 as well as 3 and 4 as previously reported. I will add it to the big ole list.

I've only had the displeasure of seeing the first few episodes, but I couldn't stand what I saw. It's like a less-interesting Detective Conan, with some of the most intolerably annoying characters I've ever seen.

Keep in mind that even a B+ on AnimeOnDVD.com usually means that the show is mediocre. What you really need to be careful of is the stuff that scores a B or lower. For $11.99 a disc, you'd be better off with Fruits Basket, or maybe some groceries.

I'll take those into consideration, but I'll probably make up my own mind when I see the show. Though animeondvd.com is a great site, I don't really trust their reviews all that much since they have a terrible rating system that makes it very difficult to come up with a good perspective of a show and whether or not the reviewer enjoyed it.

Found some new markdown stuff today. Tenchi Muyo GXP vol. 7 and 8 were 9.99. The Cased Closed original boxset (2 dvds) was 15.99 and a number of the Case Closed dvds were 6.99-7.99 (they appear to not number them so i don't have volume numbers). Also Fruits Basket vol. 1 is 11.99.

Thanks for the info on Tenchi Muyo GXP picked them up. Hopefully I can find 2-6 cheap now.

Wow, that's an awesome price for the second half of Big O. I'd totally scoop that up if I didn't already own it.

I wonder if the rest of Please Twins is as cheap as disc 1...

If yopu can find these get the Gundam Seed Box w/CD for $10. Wolf Rians discs 1-3 (4 is a recap disk. No original content I hear.) Big O Season 2. Gun Parade March Tin and Mirage Blaze Box Set. Oh, and definately get the Heat Guy J three disc box for $20. It's the first three discs in a best buy exclusive set.

Nice prices all around. might need to look into Wolf's Rain. Never liked it too much when it was on AS, but for $11.99 that's not too bad of a price.

Wow. That's an unbelievable price for Big O II. Too bad I already ordered it fromt he DDD sale for $24. Well, it's still on backorder so maybe I could pick this one up instead. Hmm...now to decide if it's worth the hassle of canceling and dealing with BB. Anybody know DDD's customer service number or how good are they in canceling just one item of an order?
 
Damn. I too ordered Big O II via DDD, thinking $24 was a steal.

meh. After tax, it would be 21.65, so only 2.35 loss. But, I succeed in 1) not giving money to Worst Buy, and 2) avoiding taxes. That's worth easily 5 bucks in my head.

I hate when I buy something, even when it's a deal, and find it cheaper later on. Damn you CAG and your penny pinching ways, alerting me to delicious deals!! What a cruel mistress you are! :B

I saw 3 and 4 of Please Twins there and they were still marked full price. Whenever anybody goes to best buy check and see if any of the other bandai sets were reduced. My local best buys only had Big 0 season 2 but hopefully some of the other bandai sets have been discounted as well....
 
MMMM Big O and Wolfs Rain are mine, now if i can only get a deal on Saiyuki and Argent Soma disks ill be very happy

yeah my best buy is completely out now so i can't check anymore. Quite a few of the earlier deals were strangely excluding dvds 1 though.
 
For those going to buy the BIG O II set, make sure you check to see that none of the disc inside are loose. I found a couple like that at Best Buy. For some reason bandai did not use the same case as set 1, so the discs can pop out easy.
 
I went to the Chapman Ave one and found Fruits basket marked at 23.99 each but I trust my intuition, go to the checkout and bam! I buy fruits basket 3 and 4 at 11.99 a piece-how it scanned into the computer. (Bestbuy.com says that the chapman ave ran out of stock of these dvds, but when i checked today i found them...i guess you guys should check B&M for yourselves and not trust the internet site.)

I never trusted BB's online tracker thing. it never tells the truth. When they say that it is in-stock B&M, it's not, and when it says it isn't in stock, it is. Better just to check in store like you said.

It's still 6.99 in store, saw it a couple days agoo. The online prices rarely matched up and if they were discounted on line it usually was at a point more than the in store price.
