So I just went by my local Big Lots after reading here that some were carrying cheap Wii accessories, and was surprised to find some cheap Wii, DS, and Playstation 2 games. In all honesty, nothing I saw was worth much, but Samba De Amigo (Wii) and Desktop Tower Defense (DS) for $8 ($10 normally) isn't bad. I also saw Dance Dance Revolution X (PS2) behind the counter for $15.58 (12.xx with 20% off).

In addition, when the lady pulled Samba De Amigo out of the bin, I saw a few games I didn't recognize as being on display, the only one I could make out being Lego Batman. I asked her if I could look through the bins, and she said no. I asked her why where the games that weren't on the display I was looking at was. She said those were the only ones they had. I asked her why there were games in the bin they didn't have on display. She said they didn't. Since there was a line of people behind me, I didn't contest it any more, but I'll be stopping back by later today and see if I can find anything else.

Yeah- there was a big banner outside my Big Lots store stating "EVERYTHING IN-STORE 20% OFF". I'm 100% sure.

EDIT: I'm pretty sure the lady at the register scanned that coupon, actually... So stacking would be a huge YMMV.

I used to work in my local Big Lots Furniture Store a few years ago. This deal would pop up off and on during the duration of the year for Friends and Family deals. This is the same coupon as posted online for the 20% off. No stacking, not even for employees as they have 20% off every day, except for the first day of an ad. Hope that helps.

This just sounds like your store is honoring the coupon early. ymmv before 5pm. no ymmv after 5pm. any good deals at big lots right now? I'm guessing there aren't too many good sales in lieu of the coupon.

The way console games works at Big Lots seems to be that they get two boxes for every game. One is empty and one is factory sealed. They put the empty boxes out in the display as an indicator of what games they have in stock and how many. As they sell the games, the sealed boxes in the glass case get replaced by the empty boxes. So...if they get 10 copies of game XYZ and sell out, then there will 10 empty XYZ boxes in the glass case and none on display. That is probably what you saw.

That makes sense, but I'm 99% sure these were factory sealed copies of Lego Batman for Wii, and there were 4 of them in the same bin she pulled Samba De Amigo (my sealed copy) out of. I figured they probably had pulled a Sam's Club and had the games behind the counter, but no displays for them so customers didn't know to buy them. The same thing goes for the DDRX bundle- it was behind the counter right next to the game bins. Unless a customer was specifically looking for stuff behind the counter, Big Lots couldn't sell it. It's stupid that stuff like this happens.

probably some employee hoarding the deals for themself

So I went back again this afternoon. I double-checked the displays to make sure there were no Lego Batman cases before I went to Customer Service- there weren't. The store was pretty dead, so I didn't have any trouble approaching the counter. I asked the lady behind the counter (who was different than the lady who was there before) if she wouldn't mind letting me look at the games behind the counter, as when I had bought one before, I noticed there were some games in it that didn't have display boxes. I was fully prepared to contest her if she said that there were boxes of everything on display, and that I couldn't, but she seemed all right with letting me look in the Wii box (which was all I really wanted.) The only games that were in there that didn't have boxes were Lego Batman and Big League (maybe Beach?) Sports. I asked her what the price on Lego Batman was- it was $18.88. Needless to say, I passed, and told her to have a good night.

Something else I noticed, though, was that despite how empty the store seemed to be, the place where I had picked up a box for Samba De Amigo to buy was still empty. None of the employees bothered to put the case back out. So I guess in a best case scenario, the employees simply hadn't put the cases for Lego Batman after people bought them, but I'd say that's unlikely.
