BIG price drop on Blu-ray burners......

CAGiversary!
Most thought there would be a big drop in the price of Blu-ray players as the launch neared. It appears that process is beginning. Sony has a Blu-ray burner 5X selling for $700.00. Compared to the $1,000+ prices that Blu-ray players have been going for, this is a pretty good sign that the costs will go down as the market starts to purchase PS3's.

Well, with ramping up production of Blu-Ray drives in prep for the PS3, it sort of makes sense that they would be able to produce more drives faster and cheaper. I would imagine by Christmas or soon after we'll see stand alone Blu-Ray players closer to HD-DVD player prices.

I'm not sure, but can Blu-Ray burners also play Blu-Ray discs? I thought I read somewhere that they couldn't yet do that...
