Biggest hauls/deals you've missed out on or messed up?

A few years ago I went to a yardsale that advertised GameBoy games. I got to the sale a few minutes after it started to see an older guy that just got an SNES with all 3 Donkey Kong Country games & Mario Kart. I don't know how much he paid but the crapy SNES games left behind were marked a buck each so I'm guessing he paid a buck for each game and something that's not completely insane but still good for an SNES at a yardsale like $5.
TG16 in great condition and original box +11 games all in original boxes for $45.
Wow... I cant believe someone snatched it up since so few know what a TG-16 even was... I had to rebuy that system after selling it off in college to pay bills... so hard to find complete games for this system too

Friday I went to a yardsale that advertised DS & Games. Got to the sale about 8:05. Was told that the DS went fast and all that was still out was 3 cart only GBA games marked $8 a pop (Kingdom Hearts COM, Final Fantasy Tactics) A guy was on his phone asking somebody if they had Pokemon Fire Red which he had in his hand and put back after he got off the phone.

I got to the next sale and noticed a box with an N64 and 4 different colored 1st party controllers and about 15-20 games on top I noticed Mario Kart 64, a Star Wars racing game and something that wasen't too special that I forgot. The guy that was on the phone at the last sale was kneeling down right in front of it looking it over. I was hoping he would walk away but he ended up picking up the whole box and keeping it with him as he looked around at the rest of the stuff at this sale. I waited around until he paid and left hoping that he'd try and haggle or something and end up putting the N64 back for any reason but he didn't he bought it and didn't even haggle so he paid the IAP. I didn't happen to notice what that was either. Sucked as this is the first time I've seen a nice sized N64 bundle at a yardsale this year and to think that I just missed it by a few minutes or maybe even less.

I keep thinking I could have easily beat this guy to the sale, I waited patiently at the first sale until the sale runners were done helping someone before asking about video games which if I didn't do I could have left this sale while this guy was on the phone and beat him to the N64 at the second sale I went to, or that I got up about 5-10 minutes late and that if I was ahead by 5 minutes I would have been ahead of this guy etc. etc. Since I didn't see most of the N64 games in this bunch I keep trying to tell myself that it was probably abunch of games worth little to nothing and probably only 1 or 2 other good first party games tops and that the bundle could have had an IAP of $40 with all it included as to try and convince myself that it wasen't that great of a deal I missed out on.
What the heck does IAP mean? Initial Asking Price? Idiotic Asking Price?
Initial Asking Price but if you read my post in the Yardsale thread the sale I saw pricey DS, GBA, GB & Xbox games at it could stand for Idiotic Asking Price :)

For me it was probably seeing a used mint copy of Suikoden 2 on the shelf of a local EB Games literally for about 6 months. This is long before I ever knew it was rare. I had always wanted to play it, but always found something else more interesting to buy while I was in there. Kept telling myself I'd pick it up later.

*edit* omg is my signature out of date. Guess I should do more posting and less trolling >.

See, this is why I never even half considered having a yard sale and dumping my older gen stuff at it, since I'd probably reference final Ebay prices and price them accordingly. Mind you, unless it's something uber rare, I wouldn't price it at $30-40 for ONE game.

Saw a complete, very good director's cut SMT:Nocturne at Gamestop for $40 yesterday, passed it up because I'm not really interested in the game anymore. Bad move?

A shitload of sealed FFVII copies for $14.99 in Circuit City not too long ago. This was before I knew how much they were going for. I only got one for myself and about a year later I went back and got one for a "friend" who didn't even trust me with her money and told me to "bring back every penny and the receipt." Turns out she never even opened her copy and it multiplied in value :T I guess I should've just kept it for myself and sold it on eBay for $100 :T
I also remember EB had Marvel Vs Capcom 2 for like $29.99 not too long ago and Project Justice for $29.99. I also had a copy of Rival Schools which I gave away to a "friend" who I haven't seen/spoken to in years -_- I would have made so much money if I bought/kept all those things. It makes me so mad when I think about it.

Well probably the only thing that I really missed on was a a $4.99 sealed copy of Disgaea back when CC first started their clearance sales. I did manage to get a mint/complete copy of Suikoden 2 for $45 at EB once as well as mint/complete MVC2 PS2 back when it was going for around $40. Going 2 for 3 on good deals isn't too bad for me.

Story of my life right here..

About the biggest thing I've ever consciously missed out on was Skies of Arcadia: Legends new on Amazon for $15. Now it goes for a massive $20 used.

But my grandpa has tons of stories on stuff he's missed out on. I oughta bring him here to this forum. :p

that 100 free microsoft points one pissed me off.

The biggest haul for me was when a friend wanted me to go to his cousin's garage sale, I had to work that day. But he bought his cousin's NES, SNES, Genesis, and atari 2600 for like $50. Also a slew of games for those systems, that would have been awesome to get, I only have a NES and would have liked to reacquire a SNES and get an atari.

I am always ticked at my self for garage sailing in the wrong town for 4 years before i found out the town 10 minutes to the north had 10 times as many games and they only cost 1/2 the price of my old town.

I am also ticked that I passed up tons of Square-Soft SNES games when Babages was getting out of the format. they were all marked 2.99 and some were boxed!!

I remember having 7 dollars to my name one day in Target. I saw a copy of Ninja Gaiden: Black on clearance for less than 7. I was also hungry. Food won.. I lost. The end.

About two years ago, the Toys 'R' Us sale had bunch of games on sale for $10, I have got two Digital Devil Saga 1, big box along with Pikmin 2 and some other games. I sold them each for less than $20 shipped. Passed on the Twin Snakes at that time too. Had I known.

And around the same time, GameCrazy also had some sale, I was able to find and buy two copies of Nocturne, sold them for less than I should. :whistle2:(

Gamestop 75% off PSX-N64 games...sad panda.

Picking up about 2,000 dollars worth of DVDs from the Pepsi stuff fiasco kind of makes up for it :) About 1/12th through the box sets right now (On Season 3 of King of the Hill)

I'm still kind of pissed at myself. I needed some $$$$ back in the day(mid 90's or so) and the job market around here was pretty bleh, so I whipped out my one Atari 2600(having divorced parents, I got one from each of them when I was a kid).

I sold it, along with about 40-70 games(including about 5-7 copies each of ET and Combat) for a mere $15-20 to a neighbor of my one friends cousin.

That's ALL I'm saying on that.

Seeing the original MST3k Volume 10 on a shelf in Circuit City and passing it up since I wanted to see if I could find it cheaper then list price. Two days later it got yanked from the shelves and went up in price big time.

Another thing that later turned out to not be that big of a deal was passing up on a clearance copy of Rez for the PS2 at CC. Thankfully it got a reprint.

There are probably more, but the MST3K thing still annoys me to this day. It's the one sore spot in my MST3K library.

The guy who was selling them to me claimed that he was going to retire with his wife, and didn't care about these anymore. Unfortunately, with that old age, he died. His nephew email me telling me the news. Not wanted to offend anyone and possible ruin the deal, I asked him to email me back at the earliest convenience. He never did.
This is my tale of woe.
That guy was full of it, no doubt it was someone yanking your chain (take a look at the craigslist stupidity topic). Did he ever send pics of the factory sealed games and manufacturer's boxes? I doubt you lost out on anything.
TG16 in great condition and original box +11 games all in original boxes for $45.
Darkslime, I wouldn't be surprised if that was my original system (including the Turbo CD, manuals, boxes, 3 or 4 CD games and 8 or so of the card/system games, all COMPLETE) which I also parted with in college, sadly. BIGGEST regret of my gaming "career".

Perhaps it made its way from LA to Arizona...I'm still looking for another system.

What was the big deal about the pepsi stuff contest? I'm not about to read through a 100 page thread, but it just looks like you get the points off the caps or whatever and use them to enter sweepstakes for prizes? What's the big deal about that?

And what was the exploit? A way to generate codes that worked?

I'd actually really like to know as well. Kinda hard to believe that anyone can drink that much Pepsi.

Apparently there was a website not properly coded so you could enter any email address [email protected] and it'd give you like 5 or 10 pts. (whatever). You'd then clear your browser's cookies and repeat ad nauseum.

...I missed out on this as well. :whistle2:(

I was thinking about biting on this one, but decided not to anyway. This guy was selling 6 PS3 games for $70 on craigslist. Assassin's Creed, Ridge Racer 7, Genji, and 3 others I can't recall (I don't think they were sports titles). The ad is gone now, but I don't feel like I missed out that much...

That would have been very nice (your PS3 6 games for $70 deal), but you're right, I'm sure it wasn't that great, at least Genji and Ridge Racer 7 you can get very cheap now, along with the new greatest hits line.

I just picked up Call of Duty 4 for PS3 sealed for $20 about an hour ago. Guy had an ad for it on CL for $30, I emailed him that I only had $20. I think he works for Activision since he was in that area of Santa Monica and probably has a bunch of sealed copies, since he asked if I wanted it for PC, 360, or PS3 LOL.
