Imagine if Hilary ends up being the one to run for President. Now imagine if she choose Bill as the VP. Do you think this will be an instant win for the Clintons?

Just curious. Throw out the ideas :D

No.

And I hope Hillary doesn't get the nomination.

Hillary/McCain is a ballot I wouldn't bother voting on.

it would be a tricky constitutional issue if that happened. Technically he would not be elected to be president if something happens. But also he is inelligble to be elected president, which disallows him from becoming vice president. It really would be just a hassle to deal with and probably more trouble that what its worth.

Ditto on everything.

Or I'll just write in Theodore Roosevelt on the ballot.

I'd laugh so hard to see a Obama/(Bill) Clinton ticket...and you'd better believe I'd vote for that in a heartbeat.

As for Bill being VP, he could not be acting President if something happened to Obama. As such, it would skip over him and move to the 3rd in line, Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi. Which, considering that she hasn't done jack shit as Speaker (she was mostly elected because of how adamant she was at impeached Bush/Cheney, and now refuses to do it). I dare say she may be worse as acting President than Hillary.

Now as one CAG has said .. Bill technically wouldn't be elected into the Presidency, thus would he still be able to become the president if something had happened to the President? (if he was VP). I believe the constitution specifies being elected, not inheriting (spelling) it.

I don't know, this all seems fishy to me and I think that's how it would look if they even tried it. Plus, they have to be from two seperate states -- so Bill'd have to officially be voting and living outside of their fake home in New York.

Yeah I remember reading an article or something talking about if it would be legal or not. It's an interesting question but I doubt very much they'd try it.

The P and VP candidates can technically both be from the same state can't they? I thought it was just never done because you'd rather spread out the home state/region boost.

It is an interesting Constitutional issue. I don't beleive the USSC could even hear a challenge because of the "Political Question Doctrine" which basically says they have to stay out of issues dealing with the republican form of government.

It does seem more like a constitutional interpretation issue so perhaps they would have purview over the issue. Interesting either way.

I thought they were required to be from different states...that was why Cheney bought a house in Wyoming in 2000 ;)

The electoral college has to vote for a president and vice president, who are residents of different states. This is why Cheney had to change where he lived to Wyoming in 2000.

Learned something new.

Obviously not much of a problem for anyone who'd have a legit shot at either office.

If Bill Clinto wanted to be President he could. It's very similar to Madeline Albright when she was Sec. of State. The legality is that she, like Bill Clinton, would just be bypassed for the next person in line.

There's just one little problem with that called the Twenty-second Amendment.

I don't really see what you're gettin at with the rest of the post about Albright.

The Secretary of State is fourth in line. Albright was born in Prague, therefore she couldn't have become president. She was still allowed to become SoS even though there was a constitutional impediment to her taking the higher office. If the people in front of her died she was simply skipped for the next person. If Bill Clinton became VP, and Hillary died, they would skip him and move onto the next.
