Bionic Commando: Rearmed
They look fine to me. These rooms are ridiculous. I'm having trouble with the normal stages, as well. Man, I used to be good at this game when I was a kid. Now I'm terrible.
Well I dont know.. I was playing the 360 demo and it looked a lot cleaner, easier to see the walls/floors.. I have my 360 going through VGA and PS3 going through HDMI.. and I left the video settings the same so I don't know what's up.
But I ended up buying thePS3 verion anwyways because of better controller and remote play :)
the game at this time doesn' have trophy support yet? right?
It's coming and probably backwards compatible.

I played a few challenge stages. I'll need to get some BC players on my friends list so I can see other times to compete with.

Since I was honor-bound to buy this, having slaved away so many hours of my life on the NES version, I snagged it as soon as I could this morning and I regret nothing. It does feel a bit slower than its 8-bit pappy, but it works here. The action feels like it has gravity, unlike Megaman X8. I'm also glad I'm still able to exploit the crate ledges in the waterfront stage.

I can't wait to get home and play some more. Really digging Shinkiro's art too!

That's really odd. I see everything fine on the challenge rooms.

Yea I'ts weird, maybe tomorrow I'll take a pic with digital camera to compare of both 360 and PS3 versions

ahhh this game sucks!!

lol, I guess these are SKILLZ in training

The demo level is nostalgia-tastic. How do you beat the 2nd challenge room? I can't figure out how to grab the ceiling once I get to the top of the room.
yeah, the challenge rooms are smartly done but take NES skillz which I partially lack :(
It's like playing a rhythm game without the music to help.

This is making me even more excited for mega man 9. I never played the original BC, but I loved NES mega man games.

anyone know where you unlock the helmet? I have the shin guards and shirt, just need the helmet now...

also, this game has alot of lol moments. The health pills still crack me up. Also, the main character + super joe are becoming some of my fave characters in gaming now.

I have a couple questions... (spoilers if you aren't very far in the game)

What the fuck is up with the all-dark second level? Area 4? Should I come back later with some kind of light?

and..

To beat the crane boss at the end of the construction zone, do I first have to shoot out that one orange spot on his treads?

Thanks.

I can do this.

The level that's all dark, one of the nearby safe havens has the flares. Once you get the flares, then you go into area 4 and it lights it up.

And for the second one.

Yes you have to use that orange weak point first. After two or three hits of that weak spot with your grenades, he tries to ram you. You run all the way to the left and he crashes. You use your bionic arm to take out the screws.

Sweet.
I got pretty far in area 4 without lights using gunfire/grenades for light but I wasn't having much fun.

Yeah it's a pain in the ass. An even bigger pain in the ass then the nes version. I beat that level without the flares on the NES. It was such a huge pain in the ass though.

ok I'm stuck on the last level
where you are outside after you pull all the switches... how the hell do you move on? I see a ledge far to the right but it seems near impossible to get to >_<
the challenge levels were obviously done for the lulz.
I'm certainly not "lul"ing while playing them. I haven't been in "throw the controller" mode since Tony Hawk 2, and now I'm back with these friggin' levels. I'll have to add all of you to my friend's list so I can see how I'm doing compared to you.

Try the "secret" challenge levels. NO ONE has finished number 3, and only 4 people in the world have finished 6 (those are the only ones I have). They're impossible. At least I can see that the regular ones can be completed.

I'm on level 07 in the regular game. The boss is a pain in the ass. Any tips? (spoiler tags)

level seven? Tell me. I'm already at the final level. I just need to turn it on and finish it.

sweeeeet! add me or I'll add you... competition up in this bitch!!

I havent played this game since friday... busy w/ Uncharted... but I'll be back soon!

I'm stuck in area 06. Maybe I'm doing something wrong,but...
Don't you drop down to that door at the end. It seems like it impossible to get to it.

Thomas should really update the title of the thread. ;)

Level 7 is where you rescue Super Joe. The Boss is some other bionic guy who is shooting big stuff at you. He moves too fast for my Rockets, and is just a general pain in the ass. I can get him to the second room, but he's just very annoying. By then I have little health. Any tips for this fool?

Ok just replayed this boss. The main weapon you want to use to take him down is the SHOTGUN. Do not constantly swing around with him. When he's charging his shot "it's a energy ball" thing, he does two shots. Try to climb up to him. If he does his first shot, dodge it and then continue climbing and shoot him with the shotgun. You should get at least one good shot in. Two if lucky. Also right after being shot, he will swing. This is a good opportunity to SHOOT HIM AGAIN. If you're really fast though, you can switch to a bazooka and hit him with that which does more damage. You do this in two rooms. After you take half his life, you go to a seperate room. Do it slowly as he has those poke spikes to get you. If you do it right, nothing here will hurt you. The second room where you fight the other half of his health is a lot bigger though.

That door is the halfway point. You want to swing on the top most lights to get there. If you do it right, you'll have no trouble. After you get in that door, there's a door to the other half of the level.
more challenges and better loading + minor plus of no screen tearing?
And better D-pad

I'm past that part I'm talking about where you drop down at the end. When there is a tiny door at the bottom, and that is it.

I got this off gamefaqs... hopefully sum benefit to yallz:

the blue things you collect determine your initial score, then theres a time bonus, a difficulty bonus, and a bonus for not getting hit.

Well I thought I was getting decent at this... but then I got to area 6. fuckin hard. And there are no other levels I can access at the moment either... Maybe tomorrow I'll be able to beat it.

Stupid question.. where does it show how many lives you have? I never noticed it on the HUD, and I know you an collect the extra lives in some of the levels..

press select.

ok, just beat it. damn the game is tough but good.

the ending took me really by surprise even though I knew what would happen... it was just more over the top than the original

I played some this morning and found the remaining secrets, but am still getting my ass kicked in the final stage. I went in with 15 lives and managed to beat the Helicopter with 2 left, but then the other boss afterwards kicked my butt since I didn't beat him fast enough. The final stage needs a respawn point after you continue that at least puts you after you activate the 3 switches.

Yeah yeah yeah. I know I'm whining about it but dammit, the other stages in the game can all be finished in like 5 minutes, so it isn't as annoying, but with the length of the last stage it gets really frustrating.

Even theGame Boy version of Bionic Commando gave a respawn point at the outside of the Albatross if you had to continue it and it made things a lot less frustrating (I'm talking about the original Game Boy one (NOT Elite Forces the GBC one) which is the first and apparently almost completely forgotten remake of the NES one). Out of curiousity, did anyone else here ever play that version of Bionic Commando? In my opinion it is better than the NES one, and I think I might still prefer it to Rearmed.

Maybe I'll try again tonight...

Well while I still stand by my assertion that they should have a post continue respawn point for the last level, I finally beat the game yesterday on medium and finished the last level within 4 or 5 lives (hit all switches on one life, died twice on outside area, once against helicopter, and once with the "final" battle).

I'm ready for the next-gen version with all the unlockables from BCR (I'm almost 100% positive I'm going to use the classic skin instead of dreadlock boy).

Someone else knows about the GB version of Bionic Commando? You sir are a hero. And yes it is better then the nes version.

Woohoo! I'm a hero now!

Although I am glad that others out there have played it. For those that enjoyed Rearmed, I would recommend checking it out by whatever means. The graphics are pretty good for a GB game and the swining gameplay is tighter than Rearmed (assuming my memory isn't playing tricks on me).

I was extremely dissappointed when I went looking for my cartridge the other day so I could compare physics with BCR and couldn't find it (I think it is in some as of yet unpacked box in the uncharted realm of my apartment's spare bedroom with a number of my other Game Boy games).

Extra challenge rooms to unlock for those that want some more to play through:
To access the hidden Challenge Room, just enter the following code at the title screen, where the BCR logo is shown, before the intro starts again. You can use the D-pad or the analogue stick for the directions, and they'll work on the PC version too, provided you have a controller.

Aaron Sedillo's Room

Xbox 360: Right, Down, Left, Up, Left Bumper, Right Bumper, Y, Y, X, X, Start
PS3: Right, Down, Left, Up, L1, R1, Triangle, Triangle, Square, Square, Start

We've also hooked up (hah!) with several different websites and games publications to offer their own exclusive rooms too - and whereas I could beat Aaron's room without too much fuss, these have the difficulty level pumped all the way up to "Devil May Cry 3". Downloadable content? Bah! This is how we used to give away extra content back in the day! Be warned: you'll have to re-input the code when you restart your system, and these work in English language only.

Eurogamer Challenge Room
Xbox 360: Down, Up, Down, Up, Left, Left Bumper, X, Left Bumper, X, Y, Start
PS3: Down, Up, Down, Up, Left, L1, Square, L1, Square, Triangle, Start
