Bioshock 2 - General Discussion & Info (Game now released!)

Yea I hate to ask too but if anyone wont use theirs please PM me. I promise to give something in return.

As for the game, Ill get it when it drops to $40. It'll do so like the rest of the games I bet. Hope it does well though, just because we have seen what Rapture looks like, doesnt mean the sequel aint that good or something.
 
Has anyone experienced a hissing noise when there is audio? I noticed it during the install, but hoped it would go away, but it has not stopped. None of my other games do it, watching a movie on my ps3 right now and I hear no hiss. My setup is with hdmi to the tv and audio from the tv to 5.1 surround sound. I really want to play the game, so I am at a loss.
 
I have been playing for a large amount of the day and experienced no such noise. I just have it running through TV speakers through HDMI. Don't know what it could be for you. That is no good though, that is for sure.
 
I'm getting this from Gamefly soon.. (got shipping notice today).. Any of you guys up for multiplayer right away or going to play single player first?
 
I have it coming in the mail from Walmart.com. In the meantime I just started a 2nd run through of the first Bioshock to refresh on the story since I haven't played it since launch on the Xbox 360 (I am now playing the PS3 version).

Not many people on here are talking about it, hopefully that's not a bad thing
 
I am about half way through the single player campaign, I think. It is an awesome sequel and really lives up to the original, IMO. I haven't played multiplayer, but should complete single player today (at least my first play through). So, if anyone wants to get on, I am game.
 
Not going to spoil anything for anyone game wise, but for anyone on the fence I'd say this is worth waiting for a price drop or renting it unless your a die hard BS fan. Having just finished the game, nostalgia got me going at first and I was loving every minute, then things began to slog and I felt pushed along by an overly scripted linear story. Although my interest began to peak up again and I started to finally get that BS vibe from the sequel it never really bloomed into anything and the game ends. It was nice to be back in Rapture and I had fun exploring it again. However that's about all I had fun doing the characters and story left me dissatisfied. Don't get me wrong some great concepts/characters but quantity over quality never really ends well.
 
I'm down... bout to beat this for the first time in about 20-30 minutes I'd guess. Still really enjoy it and think it is a great game.

Can't speak to multiplayer.
 
I would probably show up a little for a MP night depending on how much fun it is. I still haven't start the game up other than to let it install.
 
I was thinking either Friday or Saturday. Only these days because I usually work most weekdays and I would assume I would be able to get more people. If this is not the case and another weekday sounds better please tell me.
 
it only took me about 8-10 hours to beat this game.

using freeze + spear gun to the dome one shots the majority of enemies. it 2-shots alpha daddies, and you can re-pick up the spears
 
I didn't use freeze one time... I will use that on my next play through. :lol:

I probably took 12 hours... I can't say for sure. I took my time though and achieved almost everything. I am pretty sure I could do it in half that next time. And if anyone likes trophies, you can get all the single player trophies in one play if you want. The only one I didn't get was beat it on hard... as I wanted a laid back first play.

How big is the install? I think I have enough room, but I might have to delete some demos. Hopefully I will get my copy from gamely tomorrow.

4.5 gigs or so.
 
Started my survivor playthrough last night on the first game should finish that up by saturday afternoon. Then I can finally start playing Single Player on this one. Thinking I will go the same ways as Saint and just beat it once on normal/ easy then go back and run through it on hard.

I don't think this is true. It just has to be a ranked matched. And I found this over at 2K...

Nice there should be a CAG night for Bioshock 2 than.

Unfortunately, my copy won't be here a while, I am in a "long line" wait on goozex. Figures...

I played the single player for little over an hour. It's a lot of fun. It's almost exactly like Bioshock 1, which was one of my favorite games. I like controlling the Big Daddy, but he's weak as hell. I don't know how the story is going to pan out, but so far I like it.

I played one round of multiplayer and came in 2nd place. I enjoyed it. I don't see the longevity of it, but I can see myself playing it for a couple of weeks. It definitely didn't suck.
 
Finished it last night, I enjoyed it a lot. I thought it lived up to the first one.

I enjoyed the reverse plot twist. I know most people were thinking that Sinclair was going to screw you in the end, but when you got captured, he actually attempted to rescue you.
 
I agree with you. I thought the story had a more even feel throughout the whole thing... it didn't have a (Bioshock 1 spoiler)
mind blowing WYK moment
- but it was still solid.

You can still get it for $37.50 if you get the Steam 4 pack deal with some buddies, but that's probably the closest you're gonna get for now..
 
Anyone down with setting up a night? If not, I will probably jump on by myself in the next few days. If anyone wants to play, set it up. Was hoping to play with some CAGs!
 
I still have this for rent, haven't played multi at all, been playing single player, I'll be up for multi soon.

YES! I played some MP for the first time last night. It's a lot of fun.

How about Friday night? We could start around 9pm or so EST.

You have to play a ranked match to rank up/get adam. But you can invite friends to join you in a public match.
