BIOSHOCK - Gen. Discussion & Info
So for anyone who has played the game can you tell me why it is rated for "Sexual Themes"? With as little spoilers as possible.
No true spoilers, but to be safe:
At least one reference to a character having sex with multiple people. There is also a strip club.
Is the beginning of the game exactly like the demo? Or was the demo sort of truncated? I am specifically wondering if it actually gives you a reason to pick up a strange hypo needle and jab it in your arm in the full game. I find it so odd in the demo they aim for so much realism and hit so many things right, however just walking up to a needle and jabbing it in your arm without any motivation is a bit silly.
The game never comes out and explains this to you, but once you get far enough, it will make more sense.

If you really want to know. . .
Your character was essentially created in a lab. As it turns out, you are being controlled, somewhat explaining the characters' willingness to jab a needle in his arm.

Well I just beat the game just now and I realized why I like this game so damn much. My favorite game of all time is Super Metroid and Bioshock has so many things in common with Metroid its not funny. Below are fucking major spoilers so read at your own risk!!:whistle2:#

The Big Daddys were similar to Metroids. They really aren't evil and are used for someone's greed and etc. Plus, the way the levels are presented, backtracking is rewarded because you can take down some of the earlier Big Daddys with better weapons and such you get later in the game. I fought the last guy at first with about 8 Big Daddys/Little Sisters left and got owned. So I went back and harvested the remaining sisters, so I could get more Adam for health and plasmids. I have three problems with this game however....one the way you respawn takes some of the urgency out of the game, cause you know you will eventully get past any encounter (except for last boss lol)......two this is what Metroid Prime 2 should have been like and it saddens me to think that Metroid could use this engine if a true "next gen" Metroid was made (think how fun grappling would be in Bioshock)....and lastly now that I've got the crappy ending from beating the game and harvesting the little sisters, I'm going to play this again and won't have time for Two Worlds:cry: Btw, I wish Samus would turn into a Metroid

I actually recommend starting on the hardest difficulty level. The game is very easy on normal, in my opinion...plus, one of the achievements is only available on hard difficulty.

The Big Daddy is extremely easy if you:

1. Have the shotgun fully upgraded with electric bucks.
2. Have any explosive weapons.
3. Have Big Daddy fully researched.

BTW, has anyone found every single Accu-Vox (tape diary) yet? I checked every area extremely carefully as I played, and I still didn't get the achievement. I also seemed to have missed one weapon upgrade station...what a pain.

I found out late that I could take pictures and do more damage lol. I took out the Elite Big Daddys (the ones who are fast as fuck lol) with the crossbow mainly and by leading them into a turret trap that I hacked. The other ones (the ones without all the eyes) were very easy to beat...I used my phasmids to throw their grenades back at them. I think I'm going to take your advise on my second playthough and try it on hard. Btw, I havested every little sister and double checked on each level b4 I beat the game and no acheivement. Is the one that you have to follow, one that I need to kill? Or is it because I went back and killed them after I got all powerful? I'm going to save their asses this time because the evil ending sucked balls:cry:
If you guys want a good laugh then check this review out haha.

If your site is called "Sony Defense Force" what sort of credibility would you have reviewing anything?

Not to mention 2k has explicitly stated Bioshock is a 360 and GfW exclusive.

Exactly, but I don't think the webmaster is serious. Unless it's chadwarden or something.

You only get the Little Sister achievement if you
don't harvest any of them
.

Does anyone else feel bad when you harvest them? It just feels totally wrong...and it is.

You know...i've read all of the spoilers people have posted today/night and i think its making me even more excited to play the game! I mean, the little tips from each person are already adding up in my head as i make note of what i want to do when i play this. I think i'll stick to Normal for my first time through since i don't play FPS's at all...

What is the difference?
What is the difference?
You get more Adam if you choose to Harvest a Little Sister. You get less if you choose not to, however, your kindness won't go unnoticed :)
What is the difference?
I believe the difference is;

Bad Ending - you Harvest them
Good Ending - you don't harvest them and you get the achievement

there's actually a site for the Sony Defense Force? I thought that was just a CAG joke...
God damn, now I want to read all the spoilers.
They're fun. Go for it. (Although they do a really great job of spoiling a lot of the game... good job on the pointed spoilers, guys!)

I don't think it will ruin the game considering it is about 20 hours long. I'm sure once i start playing i'll be completely consumed by the story that what ever happens will still be a surprising/interesting :) And as i said, reading the spoilers should help me during my first time through.

Holy crap. Folks do you realize this game is on pace to be the best reviewed game of all time?!?!

I am stunned by these reviews, every single site with a review has absolutely loved this game. I enjoyed the demo but man oh man am I looking forward to this game now.

It's also going to have a negative effect, because it will get peoples hopes up way too high. People will be buying this game a few months from now simply because "everyone was raving about it" and they are bound to be disappointed from having expectations set too high.

Actually I expect a number of people, after Tuesday, to be saying "It was good, but not as good as everyone made it sound". Mark my words.
Man, What a :newbie:
The funniest thing is when he says how the DVD format held back Bioshock's graphics, when the PC version, which includes Direct X 10, fits on one DVD.

I highly doubt it really is the best game of all time. But I am more excited b/c the quality of the demo seems to hold true through the whole game. If that is so I am sure this will be one of my favorite game experiences in a long time.

You are exactly right about people saying good but not that good. Same thing happened with gears of war. The only way for a game to be the best of all time is personal opinion. There are great games all can agree on, but best game comes down to personal preference and just what tickles your fancy.

Hmm, I do have one single complaint.

I've noticed that the subtitles are terribly out of sync with the dialogue...typically the subtitles dissapear before a character finishes speaking. And this is the only game where I've turned the subtitles on, since it is really hard to make out what the characters are saying sometimes, in the midst of the SFX.

Maybe a patch could fix it.
So....Xbox has yet another killer game. Halo 3 isn't even out yet..Sony has some catching up to do.
Pretty sure 2008 will be Sony's year; MGS4, GT5, FFXIII. Right there are three games that will sell consoles for them.

This won't be the best game ever. everyone knows that's FFVII and it'll never be dethroned ever.
This won't be the best game ever. everyone knows that's FFVII and it'll never be dethroned ever.
I preferred FVIII way more than VII...

no VIII sukked. cloud is teh kewlest. I'm totally serious too.
no VIII sukked. cloud is teh kewlest. I'm totally serious too.
OMGZ no you didn't! I dunno, i just preferred the look of VIII over blockly Cloud. I enjoyed the story of both, but graphics-wise, VIII hands down. I actually liked IX more than 7 i think...but everyone seemed to have hated that game :(

Everyone knows the king of all games is Daikitana! Mutant frogs! Mutant FROGS, MAN!

Ok... maybe not. ;) But I think Bioshock will be at least more than moderately fun for an FPS... (too many times we get crap for story and ooh look! shiny multiplayer!) Honestly, how many times can capture the flag be _that_ fun? :) That's just me, of course.. ;)

I'm going to hold out for a couple of months... let the hype soak in more... and maybe get some of my other backlog done before buying it. Of course Heavenly Sword's coming... and Lair, and Mass effect in November... and possibly Two Worlds... (if it is better than the European version, I suppose). Oh, and Folklore... (is that this year? )

Great to be a gamer. :)

Does anyone think they can add multiplayer via DLC/Patch? I mean, the demo alone would have been a great level for a multiplayer battle. 8v8 perhaps or 1v8 (Big Daddy vs. Main character and look alikes/You versus Big Daddies)?

No, it won't happen. If we get multiplayer, it will be in Bioshock 2.

Ugh I can't believe I'll only get to play this game for acouple of days before I have to go back and start classes at PSU. I don't want to rush through the game I leave for PA on the 24th. If only this game came out a week sooner haha(I'm getting the LE version, so the normal version from TRU is out of the question), what a great way to end the Summer I guess.

I start on the 27th...1 week from today :(

That's expected, with almost all of them coming from regs on the PS3 board.

I dunno know, I was just joking about VII. haven't played 8. ;)
I guess this game is not very good. 5 out of 10

http://www.sonydefenseforce.com/?p=83
I read the "review" and i fid it funny how a site called "sonydefenseforce" is reviewing a 360 game. And the fact that almost all the commments on the page are saying that the game is great and the ther "reviewer and site" are for lack of a better word retarded. Now i havent played the game or the demo yet but from what i have heard from the revirews and my friends it kicks A**!! So i wouldn't even listen to that fanboy.

Didn't read the spoilers, but just got the demo downloaded. Methinks I will wait until later this morning to actually play the demo.

I thought the Sony Defense Force was just a term we used here on CAG for Mana Knight and others who defend Sony and their products against all comers. I had no idea there was actually a site called that. Are any CAG's involved?
