Did I miss something? This is the first time I have ever seen Sony not release a BF bundle. I was expecting a HZD PS4 Pro bundle or 2 games bundled with the Slim. I guess they are leaving it up to the retailers to make their own bundle.

Wtf is with this whole "save $$$" instead of just showing the prices?!
Yeah, seriously. It's very confusing. If they are honestly trying to say that these prices are simply what comes off of the MSRP, none of those deals are even worth pursuing. Which may be for the best. Toys-R-Us is a waking nightmare on Black Friday.

Wtf is with this whole "save $$$" instead of just showing the prices?!
The primary reason is their stores have different prices depending on location. In high traffic/high rent areas, things will cost a bit more. For example at a high traffic TRU near me, Wiimotes were $41.99 as opposed to MSRP $39.99. Skylanders were also $1-2 more expensive when they were hot. Times Square TRU also was a bit more than that. This is probably their "clever" way of maintaining those premiums even during Black Friday. It also has the side effect of people seeing the savings and not factoring in the actual cost until they have waited in line at TRU on Black Friday and will just buy rather than worry about finding it elsewhere.

They can also remove any previous price drops and restore games to MSRP, so if you have a game that is now $39.99 instead of original $59.99, they can say $30 off, then restore the MSRP for Black Friday and while you are actually only saving $10, it is technically correct. Not morally correct, but it still keeps them on the right side of false advertising laws.

With their current predicament, I would imagine they are trying to eke out money wherever they can. They could try to directly compete with the competitors, but it isn't going to make that loan payment.

the management wants to draw you to the store but too embarrassed to tell you that the sale is a scam and purely sh1t.

It's a cheap trick but most ppl are so gullible, they will just go
I was kinda thinking that they want us to be curious and walk on in. Well I'm not curious!!! Unless I'm going to the Acme market next to Toys R Us I'll pass.

I was hoping for some sort of PS4 Pro Bundle.
People need to stop expecting this. The PS4 Pro just came out a few months ago. It isn't the money-maker for Sony. As their newest hardware release, it is going to make them the least amount of money per-unit. It is also expensive enough that it is unlikely to be an impulse-purchase item, even on Black Friday. It makes a lot more sense for them to push the base PS4 unit. It also makes more sense for retailers to push the standard PS4 as well, and none of them are going to be eager to discount the PS4 Pro or the Xbox One X. Brand-new hardware releases almost never get discounts on Black Friday. Their sales are usually strong enough that neither the manufacturer nor the retailers feel any need to discount them. You're just going to have to wait until next year.

On the plus side, it looks like there will be plenty of PSVR deals, for anyone interested.

Sounds like the weekly sales on MajorNelson's page and what they do on Xbox for their sales. So annoying.

https://majornelson.com/2017/11/13/this-weeks-deals-with-gold-and-spotlight-sale-106/

I don't want to know how much I'm saving, just give me the prices. I don't want to have to guess what their regular price is and figure out the prices.
Precisely what I was thinking, it sounds like his updates. Deadpool for 80% off sounds great, until you realize the price of the game is $49.99 digital when it goes for at most $19.99 at retail new.

I could be wrong but what you said sounds like price gouging... but I've seen something similar to that one and I was in a wealthy area in Northern Pennsylvania and the stores there were higher than well I would pay in my state in Delmarva.

Still waiting for gamestop to drop before I finalize my list.... I bet they price match all the best deals this year and try to be competitive.

I could be wrong but what you said sounds like price gouging... but I've seen something similar to that one and I was in a wealthy area in Northern Pennsylvania and the stores there were higher than well I would pay in my state in Delmarva.
That's not price gouging. Not even close...a simple Google search could have told you that.

A few months ago? PS4 Pro has been out over a year.
Huh, I suppose I'm starting to show my age. You are correct sir. In fact, the PS4 Pro has been on the market for one year and five days.

My point does still stand. The PS4 Pro is either being sold at a loss or a very narrow profit in its current form, while the original model PS4 has benefited from economics of scale, a major hardware revision, and is currently the best selling home console on the market. The original PS4 (and by extension, the current slim) are making Sony and their retail partners fat stacks of green, while the Pro is a fringe item for people who just bought an expensive TV. (and those kind of people aren't going to be turned off by a $400 price tag) There's simply no incentive for them to push the PS4 Pro at this junction, and that includes hefty discounts, or holiday promotions. We're more likely to see deals like that next year, or the year after, once the PS4 Pro has become cheaper to produce, and sales of the PS4 original start to dip.

Yeah, it does. But price gouging laws tend to only apply to necessities like food, water and gas. Otherwise Ebay would be constantly in court for allowing that stuff. Toys R Us has long had the model of items being more expensive, but having frequent sales. Get the customers in for the deals, sell them regular price stuff while they are there.

There is some history for stores being taken to task about things like this. JCPenney got in trouble a while back for marking up jewelry to account for weekly percent off sales. I wouldn't be certain they would mark up games for Black Friday to account for discounts, that would be definitely be questionable. The My Pillow company that you see on tV also got in trouble for similar "sale" shenanigans, their "half off" deals they advertised weren't really a discount because they were never not on sale.

Probably being re-printed after their whole implosion of the Power Pass earlier this week
This is actually a really good guess. It's likely that they were planning on promoting their Power Pass rental service over the Black Friday weekend. Now that they've pulled the plug on it, it's entirely possible that they're having to pull any reference to it from all of their Black Friday listings. They would have to do this on all of their printed materials, as well as their on-line listings. The logistics for such a turn-around this close to Black Friday are staggering. I don't envy anyone working on that project.

Curious if anyone has seen anything about Elex being on sale. Haven't seen it mentioned or shown in any of the ads(Though not surprising since it didn't review well)

There was a used copy near me so I picked it up this past weekend during Gamestop's Pro Days sale. Returned it the next day. It's really, really bad.

There are a couple OK prices in the TRU ad. I think $30 for Persona 5 matches the best price elsewhere at least, and no games are tied to doorbuster times. We don't usually have many decent sales on games, my big seller in electronics is usually whatever cheap tablet there is, which looks to be Nabi this year. The only thing different from normal is the lack of by one get for $1 on the $20 games.

All in all it looks like a completely average TRU BF ad and doesn't seem to be affected by the bankruptcy, in my opinion.

Sorry if this is a dumb question but does Walmart's "All Day" online thing mean midnight, or 6 PM? Looks like I could get everything I want there.

Dude, it came out a year ago.

Edit: Just saw the earlier response. My bad.

I'm not sure I could justify buying a PS4 Pro even with a 4k setup.  It doesn't read 4k UHD discs.

I'm still waiting for the next hardware revision.

The Pro was an under the radar stealth release that was announced shortly before the holidays last year.  I fully expect it to happen again perhaps next year.

Thanks Cheapy! Definitely in the market for a Stream Deck!

The reason Sony isn't discounting the Pro is because MS foolishly set the XXX at $500. Why bother when your competition prices too high and has nothing to show with it but a racing game?

Man, the moment Spencer announced that price, you could hear the collective laughter from the Sony offices.

I hope come PS5, MS gets it's shit in order. After the solid 360, what an absolute mess this gen has been for them.

I'm looking into the Elgato. I'd love to record my gameplay. I didn't know the HD60 had that many variants. I'll keep researching.

What is the Stream Deck? Any opinions on S vs the Pro?

Any deals expected on an Apple TV 4K? I'm about to order one but figured I'd check here before pulling the trigger. I checked BFads for the usual places but so far I haven't seen anything.
Directv is offering the Apple TV for free if you pre pay for 4 months of their streaming service which is $140. People say it takes 2-3 weeks to arrive but has been available in ATT stores in the past.

Ooh good find. Looks like the promotion might formally start this Friday. I may as well go for it since it would be cheaper than even eBay prices for an ATV 4K. Even if I end up using PS Vue instead (DVR seems good while DTVNow's is not out of beta yet), it would be worth it. Perfect way to justify getting an extra Apple TV for the bedroom, haha.
