Samuel L. Jackson isn't good enough to make me want to see a movie... but this one looks like it could be good. Still gotta wait for reviews though.
 
I have to imagine he reddens Ricci's buttocks at some point. I can go along with that initiative.

But seriously, folks, I was browsing around Metacritic and Rotten Tomatoes, and it seems that it's a love it or hate it kind of movie, but the majority of reviews -- good or bad -- praise Christina Ricci's performance.

I just got back from it, very good film but very misleading commercials...it's a much more slow, disturbing, but ultimately nice film rather than the "AWESOME IT'S SAMUEL L JACKSON AND OH SHIT HES CHAINED UP CHRISTINA RICCI TO BE HIS WHITE WOMAN SEX SLAVE" type film it seems to be from the ads
 
Just came back from watching and I thought it was pretty damn good. I'll have to agree with WHM on the fact that the trailers almost make it seem like a different movie but it was a good movie overall. I'll definitely be adding it to my DVD collection when it comes out.

Went to buy tickets at an indie theater and it was sold out. Hilariously enough, the line for it seemed to be filled with young, frat boy types talking about how great it was gonna be to see "that chick from Casper" naked.

You're right about the ending. It's like the writer thought, "And that's all I have to say about that!" and typed THE END without finishing the scene.

Black Snake Moan isn't the best movie I'll see this year, but I liked it a hell of a lot. Christina Ricci and Samuel L. Jackson have this great chemistry that makes their interactions ring true, even though the circumstances surrounding them are ridiculous. And that guy who played the preacher was great.

It bugged me that
it took Lazarus almost all damn day to wash the blood off of Rae's face, though.
I know he was in a rush to get to the pharmacy, but come on!
