I've seen promos for this blockbuster flip it thing all over tv, magazines, buses, etc...

Now why would somone want to pay 49.99 for 3 months when you can only get one game at a time and deal with blockbusters lousy service, when you can join GameFly and rent 2 games at a time for 21.95 or RedOctane for 18.95 a month?

Any one agree with me on this? or am I just a BB hater?

I've never heard of GameFly or RedOctane, but are they online store? Do GameFly or RedOctane have local B&M store where you can go and exchange for another game at anytime? Do GameFly or RedOctane mail you new game even before they receive the old game back from you? The amount of time the game is in the mail system could add up to a large time especially if you play a lot of games.

with BB you can walk in and get any game you want...i rather do that then have to wait forever to get the games though the mail...plus i live right near a BB...i like to own games more then rent but it seems like a good deal for people who just like to try games out and give them right back

For now Gamefly is pretty much the only decent service around.. and their only warehouse is in Cali. So for those of us on the eastern side of the country, it takes 3 days to get the game back to them and then 3 more days to get back to us.

So for $20/month they can run up to their local blockbuster as soon as they're done with the game and get another.

It's not a bad deal in some cases.

I'm temporarily on the East coast, and I think I got 6 games in a month from Gamefly. It was free with that deal that was posted here a while ago so I'm not complaining, but BB is obviously the way to go unless you live on the West coast.

Apparently, noone agrees with you. I know I sure don't. The convenience of the location of Blockbuster and the fact that it is cheaper than the other two makes this a good deal if it is your thing.

It would appear BB is doing this as a direct reaction to the online rentals. They don't have as diverse of a selection but a local B&M where they also get movies is very attractive to many people.

As already mentioned, this is a great way to stuff your 127 GB to the gills. Likewise for some Xbox mods. So long as you're willing to erase the games at the end of the month or three month period you aren't bending the law too badly.

there is a thread devoted to rating online rental sites (its buried somewhere) the point buying there are quite a few online rental sites, almost all of which are decent-with the strong exception of deepshark and all have better pricing plans than ths bb one. as people have said the advantadge is you can walk right in and get your game, but most bb have a worse selection than online.
additionally, the latett issue of gamepro had a $5 off coupon for there $20/mo unlimited game rental plan, which, math majors, is a better deal than $50 for 3/mo

You can't use that coupon on a renewal though vherub. Knowing blockbuster's screwy coupon system though you could likely cancel the plan and go back in a day after your pass expires and say that you want to sign up again.

Not $20/month its more like $17 a month which is cheaper than both Gamefly and Redoctane and you can return the game as soon as your done with it. I can see where if maybe they are like 12 and can only make it to a blockbuster like once a month where the BB deal is not as good.

Plus, I have *heard* that some of the online rental places are rather quick to say 'Whoops, you lost/broke the game, give us 50 bucks.' I'm no fan of Blockbuster, and I pesonally wouldn't 'flip' it because
A. the selection of the BB nearest me is rather lacking,
B. I have enough games I haven't played/beaten yet, and
C. 'flip it' just sounds stupid.
But if one is convenient to you, and they have enough selection/stock that you're interested in, I can definitely see a market. Plus a lot of parents might not want their kids signing up with their credit card on the internet, but they'll buy a 50$ 3-month card, and run by BB on the way home from work or school or whatever. And if something goes wrong, it's easier to talk face to face than deal with an unknown entity over the internet.

I've been with Netflix for three years, and there's a distro center 80 miles from me so stuff gets there in one day; but I would not pay the same if it had to go to California.
I signed up for the flip card.
I can walk to BB in less than 5 minutes.

-Moron out!
exactly. instant gratification always wins. do I really want to wait about 10 days between the time i put a game in the mail and another one gets back to me?

dont get me wrong, i use gamefly and its great, but i also tried the monthly blockbuster card to fill in all those week and a half period when im gameless.

yeah..the card isn't for me..i hardly rent games and I enjoy owning them because normaly i play a game then forget about it then come back to it and beat it....

I bought one of these cards as part of a deal to pay off an enourmous debt that was in my Blockbuster account (which I'm still convinced was a mistake).

It is a good deal but I can only use it a BB that is two cities removed from my own and while it's not a problem getting there, the bus and train fare is like $5.

Not to go off topic but does any know if Hollywood video has a similar deal as the Flip it card or Game Freedom Pass? I passed by one last night and saw a banner that said 'unlimited game rentals' and I think it was called an Access card.

I don't like the $50 for 3 month game rentals at Blockbuster (I rather join two to three times with about 6 months in between for newer games) but it is a good deal if you have a lot of new games that you want to play during that 3 months. I prefer gamefly because they have the games I want to play. Gamefly have better game selection than Blockbuster but you have to wait for the games to come.

The Flip-it Card is good if your Blockbuster has some good games. The one located near where I live usually has only 1 or 2 copies of new releases, and most of the time they are gone.

It's not a bad deal if your blockbuster actually has a selection, and has very few customers. Otherwise you are stuck with a tiny selection, which gets rented out fast by other flip-it pass users leaving you with pretty much nothing. Unfortunately the BB's by me are all like this, thank god I don't have one of those passes or else I'd be pissed.

Seeing how this topic is not a deal why hasn't it been moved to the controversial section??

Have the mods gone lazy now that Cheapy has returned?

I had one of their game passes for a while, it was nice cause I could get multiple games a day if I decided I didn't want one and I did many times. The thing that sucked was that their selection was rather lacking and the more popular games are always rented so its good in some ways and bad in others.

It is more CC burnout for me. After a certain point you just get tired of moving shit and locking dup. threads

As for this deal, It would be much better for me to use Blockbuster than an online serivce. It takes forever for me to recieve any type of mail in Raleigh (first class takes at least a week)

yea ill agree with u that stupid thing is pretty damn gay!!!
Theoretically, you could get and play more games in the three month period of time cheaper with BB.
okay but then you have to pay gas going back and forth seeing if they have the game you want when they dont you end up renting a suckass game. and you keep going back every day looking for the game and it always gone someone else has it out for 3 months BB always has low stock, gamefly almost never has a wait.

I think the flip card is a good idea. You pay 50 bucks for 3 months, you can take one game out at a time, games theses days takes what, 20 hours tops to beat? thats about a game every 3 days for me, and since its right down the street from my house if I don't like it in the same hour I rent it (Which has happen to me before) I can just take it back and get another, plus no late fees. GameFly is just 10bucks more than the BlockBuster in those 3 months, and with GF you would have to wait until they ship the game. I don't see why "Shit Heads" would only use the card, Its a great idea. I spend about 60 bucks on rentals every month at block buster so this is a great for me, and is the reason I got one.
