Blockbuster Online to lower prices as of 10/25

Scrubking

CAGiversary!
I just got an email from them. This is what is says:
As of Oct. 25, 2004, you'll pay only $17.49 a month, plus applicable tax, to enjoy up to three DVDs out at a time. Keep five movies out at a time for only $27.49 a month or eight out at a time for $37.49 a month. As always, there are no return dates, no extended viewing fees and shipping is free both ways.
The coupons good on games definitely adds value to their membership plan. Actually, that almost makes it worth while right there; my BB charges 6.50 or so to rent a game for a week.
I assume they're good at any BB?
I had the GamePass at my local store for one month; in that one month, I played every PS2 game they had that I was interested in. :(

I would if i had a DVD player send everyone dvd players so we can join :)

Also, for those concerned about slow service: I emailed them and they said they are implementing a system where the post office notifies them that you mailed your dvds and Blockbuster will immediately ship you the next ones in your queue before actually receiveing them. Hopefully this will speed things up considerably.

Let me know when they do this because, I would be willing to sign up for there service when this happens

Netflix drops their price to $17.99 as well on Nov 1st.
Meaning if you join now, you get 2 free weeks before the lower price.

Wow, that would be amazing, but I don't see the post office going along with that, but who knows. If so, even more reason for me to keep the service.

Yea. Mine charges 7.03 after tax. Its pretty crazy.

Do you think they will ever start renting out games through this service as well?

I was disappointed when I found out they didn't do that, as far as I know. I don't see why not either.

I would say PROBABLY....maybe for more, but who knows. It would be worth it though....I feel they will want to corner the market for online rentals.

Hmmm I just signed up for this a week ago do you think they will send me an emails aying the prices dropped after my free two week trial ends?

Probably....or CANCEL when you are done with the trial and they will PROBABLY send you an e-mail to come back at a lower price. Currently, I have a 6-month deal for $16/month

Who is the shipping company for the movies. If it is the US Post office I call Bull Shit. I do not believe the USPS will do this for a business.

Yes, it is handled by USPS....all rentals companies are. It's the only way you can put them back in your mailbox for free return shipping (without making life difficult)

Netflix used to have a system where you could log in and tell them you send a disk back, and they'd send you the next one. Maybe that's what they mean? I can't see the USPS doing this without requiring a Proof of Sending or something, which of course would increase costs/prices.

my disks seem to have some kind of tracking number on them. Maybe the BB computer scan automatically scans the USPS data base for tracking numbers from this promotion

Yeah, they took that away. BlockBuster kinda has that system, but it is SUPPOSED to be used for telling them that you sent the disc back and they never received.

Netflix will make you wait 7 days after the ship date to report anything. BB you can do it whenever it seems. Like, I was supposed to get a DVD on the 22, never came and the weekend passed....so I assumed Monday...NOPE. So I reported it NEVER RECEIVED and they sent the next DVD on my Queue

I canceled my membership yesterday and sent back the dvds. Today i got confirmation that my next 3 movies has shipped. Whats going on here?

I think the Walmart DVD rental service had a similar feature. I remember seeing something like that mentioned when I did their free trial.

I think I might just sign up, but just for you cheepy ;)

FYI if you go online and go to the screen on your account to cancel the program. it gives you the choice of an additional free month or a price of 15.99 for 3 dvds

I have been using Blockbuster Online for a month now and sometimes the next day after I place my dvds in the mail 'll look online and it'll say they shipped my next one already. Althought after renting a lot they seemed to delay a bit but, they still ship my movies before they receive them on average.
