Hey guys what's up... here's what I bought tonight at Blockbuster

GTA: San Andreas (PS2) x4
Moto GP (Xbox) x2
Ninja Gaiden (Xbox) x2
Splashdown (Xbox) x1
Sonic Heroes (Xbox) x1
Legacy of Kain: Defiance (Xbox) x1
Top Spin (Xbox) x1
Crazy Taxi (Xbox) x2
Robotech Invasion (PS2) x1
Splashdown: Rides Gone Wild (PS2) x1
Dragonball Z: Budokai 2 (PS2) x1
Street Fighter Anniversary Collection (PS2) x1

18 Games for $119.15

This is the promo where the game only comes with a case without inserts and game manuals. The lady that rang me up gave me like 14 of the games at $4.99 and the other 4 at $9.99. I am sooo lucky! I'm probabaly going to trade these games into Gamestop for some money/credit.

I'd guess a little under $75. GTA: SA complete with box and instructions gets about $6 or $7 now, only because everyone else is trading theirs in.. without the case, it'd be like $4 or $3 per.. good luck though, let us know how it goes.

Actually, i'd like to lower that to a little under $50.

This is only a good deal if you like the games and want to play them. You wouldn't get as much credit as you spent in cash, that's for sure.

I got some great games from Blockbuster a few weeks back as well. 6 games for $45. (2 for $15, since they were buy 1 get 1 half off, and all were normally $9.99)

Great way to build an instant collection of great and recent games.

GTA:SA gets $12 credit right now. The amount of credit doesn't change regardless of whether the case/manual is included or not. If he trades all 4 GTAs right now (with the %40 bonus), he'll get almost $70 for those alone.

In summation, you're waaaaaaayyy off the mark on this one.

Since when does it not matter if there's no case or manual? The $12 in credit is YMMV, but I really don't think i'm off the mark at all. I guess we'll see when he tries to trade them in.

We're talking GameStop, right? I've been working there over 3 years, and NEVER has the amount of credit changed when the case/manual is missing.

Also, trade amounts aren't YMMV, they're company-wide. The amount I see in my computer is the same amount seen in Washington, Hawaii, and the Moon. For reference, that $12 amount is what I saw the last time I worked, being this past Wednesday.

Here's my breakdown of what he'd get if he traded everything.

GTA: San Andreas (PS2) x4 @ $12 = $48
Moto GP (Xbox) x2 @ $6 = $12
Ninja Gaiden (Xbox) x2 @ $9 = $18
Splashdown (Xbox) x1 = $5
Sonic Heroes (Xbox) x1 = $6
Legacy of Kain: Defiance (Xbox) x1 = $4
Top Spin (Xbox) x1 = $6
Crazy Taxi (Xbox) x2 @ $6 = $12
Robotech Invasion (PS2) x1 = $4
Splashdown: Rides Gone Wild (PS2) x1 = $5
Dragonball Z: Budokai 2 (PS2) x1 = $5
Street Fighter Anniversary Collection (PS2) x1 = $8

Including the extra %40, I'm batting him at around $180. Call me crazy.

EDIT: This also assumes that the games are in resellable condition. A $2 deduction is made for each disc that needs to be repaired; is this what you were thinking of Scorch? The refurbishing fee?

Nope, EB, Rhino and GameCrazy take off some credit if the games aren't complete.. YMMV, I guess.
How come nobody is bitching at this guy for hoarding? Or does that only apply to Circuit City sales?
what game did they hoard? the grand theft auto game? if thats the game your talking about dont worry about it your Blockbuster probally has 30 used copies of it i know mine does

Well, I guess I will be the one to say why don't you just post the games on here and make some cash instead of trading them in.

You could easily make about $200 bucks if you sold all of the games for at least $12 bucks a pop.

I haven't traded games into a Gamestop/EB in a long time. Those tradein prices suck. If you have a Gamerush, you can get a lot more credit for the games especially from the trade in 3 get $5 extra each deal.

I realize. I have Blockbusters and Gamerushes in my town.

And since when have they not taken in disc only games. Maybe in the store you run, but where I'm from, I get the same credit for a complete or disc only copy.

There is no way people here would pay $12 a pop for any of those disc-only, besides GTA:SA and NG.

Just got off the phone with my store, and here's what you'd get for each as of right now.

GTA: San Andreas (PS2) x4 @ $12 = $48
Moto GP (Xbox) x2 @ $9 = $18
Ninja Gaiden (Xbox) x2 @ $11 = $22
Splashdown (Xbox) x1 = $4
Sonic Heroes (Xbox) x1 = $7
Legacy of Kain: Defiance (Xbox) x1 = $5
Top Spin (Xbox) x1 = $7
Crazy Taxi (Xbox) x2 @ $5 = $10
Robotech Invasion (PS2) x1 = $6
Splashdown: Rides Gone Wild (PS2) x1 = $5
Dragonball Z: Budokai 2 (PS2) x1 = $4
Street Fighter Anniversary Collection (PS2) x1 = $9

Including the extra %40, and assuming they're all in ok condition, you'd get $203 in store credit. Not bad for $120 spent.

Still standing by that $50 prediction Scorchy? ;)

OWNAGE...sry, someone had to say it...
There's no 'flood' of GTA:SA's around here. (I still need a cheap copy, but I want mine complete...)
I would jump on that too, if it was also under $15 of course since it is going to be a GH title soon.

Oh, I forgot to tell you all about this dumbass the Blockbuster manager told me about when I was buying my games.

This guy bought a crapload of games, little over $100 I believe. Then, he removes the $9.99 stickers and trades them in to another Blockbuster in town. He gets over $500 credit for them (he must have hoarded the really good, recent games). The manager of the Blockbuster where he got the credit noticed something fishy, and discovered that the guy was abusing the system (buying the "clearance" games and then trading them in again). So, the manager calls the other Blockbusters and warns them about this.

It was found out that the "hoarder" was the manager of one of the other Blockbusters, and now he's probably going to have his credit revoked, and be fired over this!

Geez, I didn't think people were that dumb, trying to cheat the place they work for. If Gamestop does take games with no case/manual, he should have just tried there. He still would have made a profit.

Those trade-in prices are pretty decent. I always thought Gamestop's trade-in values were closer to EB than Gamerush.

I've heard that stealing items and then returning them for cash is very popular with stupid managers. None of them seem to figure out how easy it is to track inventory.

Um nice finds?

I was happy when I went into Blockbuster today and got a complete T'ai Fu Wrath of the Tiger for $2.99.

Dude you're exactly right! Well close enough, no joke. I got around $224 after all of those games! I going to drive to another blockbuster to look for more GTA: SA and Ninja Gaidens.
OP, interested in selling Ninja Gaiden or Moto GP?
Hey dude I can get another Moto GP at that price easily. The question is NINJA GAIDEN. Um... PM w/ a price and we'll see.

Any chance my BB or GR would have a similar deal? I have collector's editions of halo 2 and mk deception without the game discs (I traded in orginial game disc only, not the collector's edition extras, at GR when credit was still high on these games with the intention of buying a disc only copies when their prices dropped)
