blood in poop also a question about ulcer?
Yeah, last summer I was taking 15+ pills a day. Now I only take 9 a day. and soon to be 11 a day when they get me on the right dosage. But it sure beats colon cancer.
I am interested on what they have you on. Pentaza, Azason / (Immuran)?

Have they injected you with the arthritis drug? For the life of me I cant remember the name now?

If you strained too hard you may have created an anal fissure. Colon polyps and hemorrhoids can also cause bleeding. Also, stomach and colon cancer can cause rectal bleeding. There are other things like ulcers and other stuff that can cause bleeding as well, so it can be possibly anything.

Whenever you poop you always have a small amount of blood in your stools, but if you really bleeding from the asshole then you most likely need to see a gastroenterologist about it.

I am not a doctor, but I worked in a family member's doctor's office when I was a teen. He happened to be a gastroenterologist, so I would talk to him about patients and stuff all the time. Actually, someone I used to work with found out she has Stage 3 colon cancer after she got a colonscopy because her rectum was bleeding. You should definitely get it checked out.

I'm not trying to scare you, but given the fact that excessive blood in the stool or bleeding from the rectum can be so many different things, it is important to get it looked at to make sure it's nothing serious.

So you're either going to get colon cancer from not taking the pills, or your colon is going to fail after processing a metric ton of medication?

Tough choice.

Well, I've gone to some medical sites (I had the same issue myself). If it's bright red, odds are not serious. Hemmroids or others.

However, you said mostly bright. That's worrisome. You should go get it checked out. If it's nothing, it's nothing. No one wants stuff going up their butt, but I wouldn't want to be dead either. What if it's cancer? Not to scare you, but that is a sign. Ignore it long enough, and you could get the lovely, 6 months to live nothing else we can do line. All of a sudden, blood in poop won't be quite as funny.

Right now I'm on Mercaptopurine once a day and 3 Pentasa's twice a day, working my way up to 4 twice a day. Is the Arthritis drug Prednisone? It's used for asthma too I think. It's the one that makes your face like inflated.

I'm not a doctor but I'm pretty sure there's a big difference between inflamation and tumors that are cancerous...so I have no idea how one would get colon cancer by having Crohn's...They'd probably die of not getting the nutrition they need. Unless there's been a new discovery where if you have something inflamed then you are going to get cancer?

I had this 2 months ago - if the blood is light red, its more than likely only an anal fissure... nothing to worry about in the long run... it'll heal fine on its own. I got mine from playing Nintendo DS for 45+ mins on the toliet at work... I was told to stop taking stuff to do on the toilet, and dont strain to hard... another thing I do as I never drink water...

If the blood is brown or even black, then seek some fucking professional help - as that is a something wrong on the inside.

You'll be fine, just stop fucking around on the shitter, and drink plenty of water and you'll never have it happen again.

I keep bumping this.... oh well.

I was thinking of Remicade not prednisone:
http://www.remicade.com/global/index.jsp

I will have to look into the Mercaptopurine.

I am guessing 1000mg of Pentasa dosages + so ~ 4000 mg a day?

Haven't heard of Remicade...But I take the 500 mg and 3000mg a day. At first I like broke out in hives and started throwing up so they had to lower my dosage...Then for the first few months my stomache would hurt really bad and I'd sometimes throw up (It sucked so bad) but I got used to it I guess and they're slowly increasing my dosage.

Do you have Crohn's or know someone with it? Just wondering about your interests

Crohn's disease does increase the risk for colon cancer (though not as much as ulcerative colitis which is a related disease). I think the mechanism is that with the repeated damage/inflammation in your colon forces the mucosa cells to continuously replace themselves which leads to a higher risk of DNA replication errors which can lead to cancer.

Crohn's disease is a tough disease to have, more so because of all the immunosuppressive drugs you have to take which isn't fun. Best of luck to you.

Yeah I have it truth be told. I have been on all sorts of drugs.

Currently I am prescribed 4000 mg of Pentasa so 4 pills 4 times a day (16 daily) and then two Azason 75 mg tablets.

So beyond my normal vitamins I am taking or prescribed to take 18 pills daily...

My new and current doctor (long story with that one) said that the pentasa is not mandatory as the azason is suppressing it enough.

so I typically take 4 pentasa (1000 mg) and an azason at about 7am and again at 7 pm with 4 more pentasa.. so in all 10 pills before vitamins.

I have noly been diagnosed for 3 years but have lots of stories to say about those years. Most everyday life is fine (besides the hit and miss short term memory loss). The immunosuppressive drugs make me a little more tired than I used to be but other than that I rarely (maybe 1-2 times a year) get sick. My immune system is apparently a monster!

I developed an alergy to Remicade it happened to be on a nite my wife decided to come down and sit with me for my 4 hour treatment. If she would not have been there to see what was happening I might have died.

Anyway..

Looks like we hijacked the topic...>_>

But I was diagnosed almost a year ago, sometime in the mid summer. What are some of your stories if you don't mind to tell? I'm curious as to what kind of stuff is going to happen other than "Flare ups where it hurts" or something...

Step right up, ladies and gentlemen! Become the next CAG to talk about your very own "blood in poop" incident!

Be sure to describe the exact hue before posting, though... it might be helpful to stop by Home Depot and pick up a paint color chart.
